Best Seashells Poems
Like Easter eggs and seashells,
I collect them
scattered dubloons in gypsy gold
Brushstrokes of verse by hands more able
to decorate, and brighten
My barren table
Bountiful fruit from other fields
As smiles compel,
As lament heals
They are the beauty I borrow
The flowers I water
They are gems of titian embers
The ascension
Of alpine timbers
They are starshine's lilac eclipse
A caravan of kinship
At my fingertips.

The hiss of the sea,
From the hollow of a shell;
Soft ocean whispers.
Seashell Symphony,
On ear, rhapsody playing.

Dedicated to Raul...you're a very good teacher...tell me what you think?
While walking in the white sand by the seashore,
The seashells were many.
I liked collecting them,
There were shells of all shapes and sizes.
I was given a lovely shell,
Beautiful blue and green.
I collected shells of all shapes and sizes,
You could have a sand dollar which brings you luck.
There was a conch shell,
A large shell where you could hear the roar of the ocean.
What a good memory of Florida,
I put them in a basket at home,
There was a starfish,
Starfish,starfish in the sea.
What do i think of thee,
There were flat shells, fairly common.
The memory of our beautiful holiday in Florida.
The friends we met there at New Years.
The fire works that we viewed from the porch,
What a beautiful evening was had by all.

The tide weaves and wends
its' way among the pier posts
where I will dig for tiny
shark's teeth and whelks in the sand;
I love making genuine oceanside jewelry.
Last night I had a dream
I was walking on a beautiful beach
Watching the ocean, all by myself
I was collecting seashells...
All shapes and colors
Beautiful, shiny ones
They made me think of you
And how your eyes reflect the sun
Suddenly I felt you hand
Slowly grabbing mine
Your presence enveloping me
Filling me with love, safety and calm
I knew it was a dream
But I really didn't care
We were together at last
I had you all to myself
We walked hand in hand
We talked, laughed and cried
We made love in the sand
We proclaimed our love undying
I woke up alone in my bed
I could still feel your kiss
My heart still warm with your love
Until next time, my prince

Over the ocean
Pages of the story fly
Like birds above the sailboat
Words flow in the sky
Closer to the light above
They will spread like rays afar
Reaching new places
To be read by anyone
Messages carried by wind
Straight from a window
Of one’s soul along the beach
Where the seashells still echo

The seashore is seldom silent,
never mourning nor forlorn,
for relentless waves
called on the roll, roar in.
The play's cast of waves
cheered on by the wind,
stand up,
break into applause,
take a bow
and curtain call
together.
Whooping with delight
they crash, splash,
hiss and fizz,
peal endless
in crescendo swishes.

**I am a nearly seventy year old mother, grandmother, and great grandmother..I enjoy going to the seashore for vacation..I have always enjoyed picking up seashells and wondered if they all had names..Well, there are over 15,000 different kind of sea creatures that live in those shells and some have not been named..

Seashells are pretty
They are very colorful
Can be found at the seashore
By the sea
Walking by the beach
There, they show
For our very eyes
As waves lapping come and go,
With the ebb and flow.

The "Hotan", is a Japanese style, being a combination of a Haiku (hokku = ho) and a Tanka (tan).
Sister Susie sits shelling shellfish in summer
Shelling shellfish sister Susie sits
Shellfish scent secreted on Susie’s sundress…
Sadly sister Susie stinks!

It was almost like a summer ritual
To prance along the brightened shores of grain,
When balmy trees wafted as usual
Aunt Em’s hut glazed nearby lakeside's terrain.
Waxed seashells rose like buffed pods on the ground,
Dotted and curved, echoing of hummed waves played
As we gathered them on coast walks, spellbound
The array of tinseled humps were engraved
And strung together into bright marble charms.
While Aunt and I giggled, skirts fluttered on air
Knitting loops as bracelets on tanned forearms,
An enchantment draped by August’s fanfare.
…I revel now at the trance of seashells’ gifts
my childhood heart nestling magic that uplifts!

Seashells
Clear glass vase of shells
Reminders we walked the beach
Waves have washed away.
Our trembling hearts
Caught in wistful moments
The magic inbetween
Entwining time on lusters strange
Pleasant sadness
Arrays of sunshine
Warming their special day
We are suspended faeries in place
Then snatched
Dragged willingly
Away from the familiar shoreline
