Best Ripped To Shreds Poems
DIFFICULTY: -noun
a trouble or struggle; something that is hard to understand or surmount
I’ve felt hell’s fire and dealt with many circumstances I may confide-
But the most difficult thing I have to live with is being touched by suicide.
She brought sunshine to my rain and day dreams of true compassion-
That was my beloved sister - Karen…so full of life long dreams and passion.
-so I thought…
Truth be told the last six years have been the worst years of my life-
Remembering her final days on earth, so full of self-hatred and strife.
She went from a blazing fire to embers of ashes in all of one glance-
And I knew deep down inside she really never had a living chance.
-this I knew…
See, suicide is a tricky situation when I stop and think of her reasons-
Looking back, she seemed to have a different personality for every season.
The anguish I am left with bleeds my soul dry and heart ripped to shreds-
If only I could have given her a healthier life, more happiness instead.
-my only wish…
“How do I cope?”, one may ask when wondering how I still live in grief-
I need to say the greatest gift is my quill that brings me honest relief.
I had days of mourning and nights of weeping without a breath-
And many times when I wished I too, that I ended up leaving in death.
-sad days encountered…
Life is so difficult even when you are having the greatest of days-
But when dealing with such a tragic loss it’s worse in so many ways.
People always tell me, “don’t worry honey, time always heals”-
Well I say right back to them, “you just don’t know how it feels”.
-pain never passes…

The tragedy of a Miracle started today
Our Lord’s brutalized body passed away
Of all the tragedies in the history of man
This is one I try to grasp, but never can
For some reason I find it impossible to see
We crucified the greatest man in our history
Through all of the gain and all of the loss
It was a predestined coin man had to toss
I wonder how Pilot must have felt that day
He washed cowards hands in a cowardly way
Beaten and tortured, his skin ripped to shreds
As a thorny crown dug holes into Jesus’ head
While nailed to the cross he had one final goal
Through the mercy of love he saved another soul
He saved that soul and then our Lord Jesus died
Can you imagine the countless tears that were cried?
As we all know Jesus' body was placed into a tomb
To my minds eye it was no less than a spiritual womb
And from inside that womb salvation was born
For the tomb was found empty come Sunday morn
This is not how the story ends it is only how it starts
The Lord now lives up inside each one of our hearts
Even those lost in Prison, the ones like I used to be
Can turn to the Lord and then they will be set free
Freedom is a thing that I think we all strive to find
It is etched in our heart and engraved in our mind
I was locked up in a cell nestled tightly away
Facing several years that I would have to pay
Up inside of that cell I made my own decree
A true miracle was taking place inside of me
I was a very evil man and I was so proud to show it
In the wink of an eye I was transformed into a Poet
I learned there is only one way to truly be free
Ask of the Lord, “ Jesus please come unto me”
And just as the Lord Jesus Christ rose up out of his tomb
We can all live with-in the comfort of his spiritual womb
My world a chasm of utter darkness
Dreariness enveloped me like a cloud
Bound by chains in an abandoned fortress
Tormented body - a field freshly plowed
Accomplishments ignored; voice never heard
Wondered why on earth was I even born
Treated like clipped wings of a fallen bird
Ripped to shreds, I could no longer be torn
Unsettling to be taunted by others
When all you do is exemplify love
Why is it so hard to love one another
As commanded by the Savior above
I tried so hard to find favor in their sight
All efforts were unfavorably received
I began to pray and was bathed in light
Chains started falling, my sentence reprieved
God looks at me and sees a worthy prize
The Lord loves all of his children the same
I’m no longer concerned about man’s eyes
Ill-conceived judgments nor secular names
The name of the Lord is a strong tower
His mighty name is worthy to be praised
I thank him for his redemptive power
For being my light on the darkest of days
In times of despair God spoke from above
Through His Word, He counseled and He advised
Keep His commandments - Keep walking in love
I am His, I am loved, and I am a prize!
Have courage and be kind
Her mother's wishes still fresh in her mind
For she had not a single bone of hate
Leading her courage and kindness to seal her fate
The days turned to months and those to years
For only time could calm her falling tears
Then her father passed leaving her his name
Never realizing his latest wife would bring so much shame.
It was seen so clearly how she was jealous
Along with her two daughters, still Cinderella was zealous
Even when she was ordered to laundry and dishes
And cleaning the pond while feeding the fishes.
Still she always smiled with light in her eyes
For so long she was wrongfully mistreated though one surprise
Her dress torn and ripped to shreds
That is when Cinderella put down her head.
And as her sweet heart ached
She heard a voice that beautifully sang
"A dream is a wish your heart makes"
And that is when the magic became real, make no mistakes.
A pumpkin turned to a carriage
Her simple appearance would unknowingly find a perfect marriage
Placing her as queen, in which she deserved to be
Sometimes magic can exist; just wish and look and you will see.

The raw delight and
wonder of an eager
child-poet lay scattered
across the floor.
A baby's coo squeals from
the aging pages babbling
forth childish nonsense while
tired cliches wind lazily through
trite rhymes lacking lyrical luster.
Still, each precious verse endears
me to the memory of a precocious
youth when poetry was simple
and an unspoiled world
lay bare age old secrets
calling out to be discovered.
Author's commentary:
I don't remember what inspired me to write my first poems, but there was always something about
language. Something profound, something powerful, something pure.
I had no natural talent, and thankfully I didn't know it for I might have given up.
But eventually, and by sheer accident, I pieced together something that worked proving
poetry is not reserved solely for those with the predisposition but is also born of
passion, study, and discipline.
It was 15 years of frustration and tears as poem after bad poem was ripped to shreds by
seasoned writers with invaluable, albeit sometimes harsh, advice before I created anything
worthy of being read. But I am in love with poetic art so have persevered with humility
and gratitude in the face of rejection until finding a rhythm of my own. And though a bit
of time may sometimes pass before I am moved to write again, the words eventually spill
forth, and with a bit of luck and ingenuity, I will write a profound piece of insightful
prose stirring pride in the hearts of my mentors whose opinions I hold so dear.
For me, it has never come easy but with a deep-rooted love for the art and an obsession
for one day authoring a single, perfect verse, I hope to be unified in spirit with the
ghosts of poets past inspiring and encouraging others to keep the craft alive.
Where were you when my world fell apart?
The Sun darkened and the Moon just fled.
All had been done and all had been said.
And ripped to shreds was my beating heart.
Even the Seas began to part.
And the Mountain tops spread.
I lay there completely dead.
Even the Stars I could not chart.
If only you knew,
If only you were there,
If only you had a clue!
If only life had been fair!
I’d turn the clocks back,
Still standing dead in my track!
It’s like all air passage ways have sealed shut, and you’re gasping, reaching out blindly in search of a solution and, slowly, that little voice in the back of your head is getting louder and louder and the list is piling up and that pressure sitting on your breast is swelling and you feel as if you’re being pulled you inside out, torn to pieces, ripped to shreds, your mind in a tug of war of sanity versus insanity and the accumulation of **** just hit you like a ton of bricks and you collapse to your knees, gasping for air, grasping for straws, clawing through the dirt, reaching for what little you can still see before you and the damn just broke and the blackness has taken hold and the dark spots dance before your eyes, mingling with the ground before you and you're ripping it to shreds begging for it to just STOP.
Over 50 years ago the draft almost took my brothers soul
A Vietnam Battle that almost took his life
On Sept 16th in the year of 1968
While out on patrol a sniper was lurking in a tree
Pop was the sound that he heard that brought him to his knees
An AK-47 was shot from high above and
The bullet hit him in his head
As he laid on the ground he could not make a single sound
His voice had been taken away by this bullet on that day
With his jugular sliced and blood all around
He laid helpless on the ground.
His Army buddy with the name of David, went to rescue him
He drug him away to safety, a medic could see there was no hope to be,
David beside himself and he could not believe his friends life
Was coming to an end
He pointed his weapon at the medic and said: You save my friend or,
Your life will end.
As they bent over to place him on the chopper gun fire then erupted
The bullets just missing their heads and hit the chopper instead
A 1/2 hour flight to Dang and no one knew,
His jugular was ripped to shreds almost leaving him for dead
The doctors could not believe their eyes, that he was still alive
Sent to Japan to recover and a purple heart awaiting him
With a tube down his nose for food so that he could eat
A 10 inch scar down his neck yet, he never forgot for the rest of his life
How David had saved his life, he has now passed away some 45 years later
I only have one hero left, the one that saved my brothers life that day,
I will carry on my brothers legacy and keep his friendship,
Until my very last day.
I struck out on my own around a year old
life was so full of fun, so many things with
which to play, a leaf scuttling by, a rustle
in the undergrowth. I was enthralled.
I stood on a road watching intently
a little mouse. A car shot past bowling
me over and slicing off half of my tail.
It stung like hell and dripped blood.
Finding a cool stream I placed my tail
within, oh the blessed relief I knew
I had been lucky, one life now done.
My next life also flashed by as
hunter became prey, I ran for
my life from a pack of hungry
wolves barely escaping their
razor sharp fangs and hot breath.
Fishing for salmon I ventured
in too deep and got swept away
tumbling through rapids, banging
into rocks lucky to be washed ashore.
Bedraggled I lie in the sun
I swallowed way more water
than I drink in two days.
Shivering as I dry off.
Maybe four is the charm
as now I am much wiser.
Oh no I followed my nose
to an enticing exciting smell.
It led me straight into a mire
churned up by rooting pigs
I was being sucked down
exhausted I finally lay still.
Well a miracle happened
the muddy slime released
its deathly grip and I was
able to slowly wriggle free.
What a state my fur was in
muddy slime all over me
only one thing to do and
that's take a hated bath.
As I rolled in the shallows
I felt a change in pressure
and ran for my life chased
by angry snapping jaws.
Piranhas I had disturbed
Nearly ripped to shreds
I slipped away to rest up.
Unfortunately as I drifted
off I started getting stung
I was under attack from
angry bees I was lying
right over their hive.
Fast as a streak I headed
yet again for the river
and dunked myself again
and again till they were gone.
Seven lives already used up
and I was still only three years.
A few years past uneventfully
I am getting the hang of things.
One dark stormy night
sheltering in a leafy tree.
It got hit by lightning
knocking me to the ground.
Fur still burning I looked
a real fright, a cartoon cat
with hair on end whilst all
I really wanted was a quiet life.
Well I have used up eight
of my nine. I now mainly
sleep my days away. The
urge of adventure quietly rests.
My day will come soon
now as age takes its toll.
I am stiff and nearly blind
so I lay down a final time.
I opened my heart
A heart without walls
Fragile & weak
Tired … damaged
I bared my soul
My past, my fears
My ghosts.
We shared
We laughed
We kissed
Together we danced,
Like children without cares
In the rain
Under the stars …. I was hypnotised
Your sensual mouth
Words softly spoken
Securely penned for eternity
With meaning and with truth
Kind, affectionate, sweet and pure
We loved and made love …. Do you remember?
Your sensual red lips brushed mine
Your kisses … so passionate
Your smile, radiating the universe, converting dark to light
And your eyes… Oh God, your eyes
Penetrate me, sparkling like diamonds
We were alive, happy, together…. Just us
Smiles now forgotten, tears in their place
Your sensual red lips now speak venom, hate and rage
A once beautiful face now distorted, unrecognisable
Your dazzling eyes, dark, angry… Evil
Your words now destroy me, the agony too intense
What happened? What changed? Why? Why?
I try to forget you, the memories will not allow
I think of the happy times, I smile but the tears follow
My heart is now closed, the walls are back up
Ripped to shreds by the man I loved
My heart burns like a furnace, deep inside I am dying
I loved you then, I love you now,
And I always will
I never thought to see a man’s bones glistening white.
Nor see disembodied limbs flying left and right.
I never thought to see mud the colour of red
Nor see young men blown to bits or laid dead.
The rain isn’t water its blood mixed with tears
Trenches full of bloated corpses, lice, fleas and fears
No time to bury them all, but those that receive an earth overcoat
Are disturbed, exhumed by bombs, thrown in stagnant trenches to float.
Blown from their resting places scattered far and wide
Dodging, not only bombs and shells, but limbs landing by our side.
Men caught and ripped to shreds with razor wire and tracer shells.
Left to die hanging there, moaning, screaming, no funerals with church bells.
I never thought to see these things; I just thought victory, honour and glory
Not see death, destruction, waste and sights so disgusting and gory.
I only wanted to fight for my King, family and country
I never thought it would end, this massacre, mortal eyes should not see.

It is the centenary year next year of the beginning of the Great War, I was inspired to write this after finding out I had a great Uncle that signed up for the Army, for King and Country .. he died at the end of September 1918 in France, never to return.

Depression
There is no one reason, some remain depressed.
One could be, a fear to stand before – undressed,
looking at all their natural beauty – glory repressed.
Never to see, to feel, to know reality- their story supressed.
A dear john letter ?
I have moved on to better !, ?
Winter winds tearing at our relationship.
The fires of those winter storms, burn deep,
scorching the fragile fabric of spring,
of summer, of the decaying hours of autumn.
This, leaving me feeling, as the deserted beaches,
hammered by relentless waves crashing down.
The essence, the face, lost after being touched
by the raging, thrashing waves of spring tides.
Lost, after being caressed, fondled by summer waves.
Lost, after being cleansed by autumns thrashing surf.
Lost, after being ripped to shreds by winters door closing,
on all that once could have been something better.
Moving on
A coarse, I believe, you have always been taking.
It has been a long time, in fact, years in the making.
The earth upon which you / we have walked is shaking.
There is no longer, any good reason for you to be faking
all – that I feel – have been the reasons for this braking.
I do not – for one second – blame you for moving on.
I understand why what you may have had is all gone.
For the light you so desperately sought, never shone
upon the dreams you had of me.
The dreams that I would never see.
For they were of someone I could never be,
in this world of mine, where being free
from all that tears at this fragile heart,
of which I no longer want any part
of, and for many good reasons
of which, in my final seasons,
need not – ever again – want to become a part of my life.
For, at my age, and with all my experiences, strife
would only be the stiletto, a dagger, a keen knife
that cuts deep into the heart and brings nothing but rife
to this old man’s days and nights as he stands
at the threshold of new ways, in new lands
where there may be no foot prints in the sands
as life changes. moves on, is out of one’s hands

"I carry your heart with me(I carry it in my heart)I am never without it.
Quote _ by E.E. Cummings
Lovely Lottie, you were my heart and life
Living to make mischief never complied
Antics so constant she enjoyed the strife
Jack Russell terrier puffed up with pride.
Postman received a particular bark
Then quiet until those letters did drop
All hell would break loose the dog went berserk
Mail ripped to shreds until frenzy did stop.
Sneaking upstairs she would jump onto bed
Brown eyes shone with most sincere pleading look
In truth, no problem she slept like the dead
Smiling I settled with favourite book
So many years and such a faithful friend
Heartbreak so painful when her life did end.

You touched my face and said goodbye, and looking back you met my eyes. A spark of what, regret perhaps? You left me wondering why.
Who do I owe this heartbreak to? Another girl? Or perhaps, two? “Oh, it’s me, not you,” you lie. Save your metaphors.
My eyes filled up with burning tears, a testament to all the years. I never even had a clue, for all I ever saw was you.
How can a light that burned so bright, turn to darkness overnight? Can fall to pieces on the ground, my broken heart’s in tatters now.
Tattered, shattered, ripped to shreds, a broken thing now halfway dead. You left me gasping for each breath, drowning in this little death.
I rise up from the bed we shared, and look into the bathroom mirror to try and see what’s wrong with me, that you should walk away.
I look into wet eyes so blue and see the me, that you saw, too. My inner self stared back at me, and told a startling truth.
I see there’s nothing wrong with me, no reason why you set me free. No reason that you broke my heart. I’ve been the same, right from the start.
I refuse to play the blaming game, of wondering why you didn’t stay. I’ll live to love another day. My heart is good and strong.
So like a Phoenix I will rise to wipe the teardrops from my eyes, and never will I compromise the person that I am.
For I’ve been faithful all this time, loyal, true and always kind. A gentle soul and thoughtful mind, and I will heal this heart.
So walk away, is what I say. It doesn’t matter anyway. Another love will come my way, and you’ll be soon forgotten.
I’ll put my heartache on a shelf, and live to love despite myself. My head I’ll hold up proud and high. I will remain uncompromised.
