They crawl out of the woodwork
Shedding lots of crocodile tears
Grieving for an ancient relative
They’ve not visited for many years
‘Auntie Annie’ is barely warm
But now you see the relations swarm
Waiting for the will to be read
They rub their hands with glee
Hoping they will be left
Lots of lovely money
‘Grieving relatives’ is rubbish!! Some are taking the mick ….
These mercenary vultures simply make me sick!

My loved ones gone
visit dreams of
cyan fields and
pixie cloud skies.
Is it a cruel trick
of the mind?
Or moments, out
of space and time;
caught in the weft
of our corduroy lives;
a small gift granted
to our past or
future selves?
Love that’s so warm and touching
Essence of her touch
Filled my heart from being touched

This wedding is hard-labor duty
(All the guests are acting so SNOOTY!)
A whole lotta' bunk!
Guess I'll get drunk
And pinch that thar bridesmaid's stiff booty...
For Joann's contest
Relativity says go faster
And time travel backward you master.
But no tempting your fate
Making out with a date,
Cause kissing your dad’s a disaster.
Aunt Boo posted everything on social media.
Misspelling words, never using Wikipedia.
Atrocious punctuation was almost laughable.
Her caustic posts were anything but affable.
She had warnings all the time by those who knew.
She never verified facts - not a great thing to do.
People were consistently threatening to sue.
For she posted libel hourly, without a clue.
Not caring to verify if things were true.
A big embarrassment, my relative, Aunt Boo.
before life begins
we accrue fictional sins
so guilt always wins
lest any deem themselves free
to alter reality
dollars and distance
do not measure existence
despite persistence
constant debt all but assured
within this credit card world
is living better
starting off as a debtor
shame's main abettor
always in the negative
when all else is relative
to death all succumb
becoming what we become
in part and in sum
being soon enough degrades
until last remembrance fades
like the dinosaur
the future won't fear our roar
care what we abhor
leaving only the remains
produced by once human brains

We live in our comfortable
‘anything goes’ world
where the word
‘tolerance’ is a code
word meaning
…don’t preach
I have no intention
of changing
Commitment is defined as
‘the mood’ of the
moment and truth too
‘complicated’ to pin
down emotion

Our modern day prophets
‘preach peace-love- peace’
in messed up worlds of
‘pleasant propositions’
with small minds

To stand firm on a truth
‘impaired’ world stage
generation full of
‘political leverage’
God’s ancient truth
…please preach
for our desperation
needs changing

But he is my cousin I insisted
He would not have done that
He is a great guy I said.
He is reliable and dependable.
There is no way!
My husband said, "Someone changed the check. It was not me."
I looked at the check. He was right, and it looked bad.
A check I had written to my cousin for $35 said $350
and it had been cashed.
I will call him, I offered.
He is coming over my husband said.
He said he would be here in twenty minutes.
We only saw him once after that, at a wedding.
He looked at his shoes

sitting outback

Emptiness is hatefulness
I once was hateful
Learn to let go of your hate

The hill of life
may start out easy
but I keep my eyes
on the summit in the clouds.

When the rocks start
they tell me
persistence in the best selector.
I grit my teeth.

The summit is not green.
The cliffs around it
call me to accident,
and my jaw now hurts.

Here in the depths
of the valley, I nurse my bruises.
One of the eliminated, looking up,
I laugh the laugh of the embarrassed.
Did you know Albert Einstein married his cousin?
It's a topic that makes for interesting discussion.
And while it may engender some negativity,
it gives new meaning to the theory of relativity!
