Notes About The Poem

Where There's a Will There's a Relative

They crawl out of the woodwork Shedding lots of crocodile tears Grieving for an ancient relative They’ve not visited for many years ‘Auntie Annie’ is barely warm But now you see the relations swarm Waiting for the will to be read They rub their hands with glee Hoping they will be left Lots of lovely money ‘Grieving relatives’ is rubbish!! Some are taking the mick …. These mercenary vultures simply make me sick! 28th January 2017

Oh, Jan, I'm glad this has never happened in my family. Funerals should unite families in times of loss, not serve as preludes to inheritances. Poignant and powerful writing! Hugs, Carolyn

I have cousins that disowned the family after my grandmother died thinking a fortune was taken from them...I got a Hummel that my gram thought looked like me and it made me happy.

Grampa was silly, but lots of fun//spent all his money, until he was done//With a twinkling eye//he'd say, "When I die//let it be a sad, sad day...for EVERYONE" (or something to that effect;-) Huggerdooskies ~ john. ps. I don't think I'm in anyone's will, but I'm probably in their "won't." ;-0

I've seen brothers and sisters become blood enemies over broken worthless furniture. It's disgusting! I can assure you one thing, if they don't come around while I'm alive, there'll be no need to come after I'm gone. Love the poem, Jan.

That is so sad. In the end money is just money. You can't take it with you. Relationships with our loved one's is priceless. So happy you have a relationship with your mom. Maybe one day you and your sister will reconcile- Alexis

I used to work in an insurance office and people would come in with 'penny policies' and be so disappointed when they got just a few pounds or even worse find out the policy had been cashed in before it matured!:-( hugs Jan xx
