Winter’s Fantasies
Winter walks the mountain hills at nightfall
Breathlessly awaiting evening’s first flakes of snow,
An alpine carnival that rowdy clouds threatened to toss upon their faces;
When, at last, the brumaled storm releases a snowy masquerade
Sweet serenity fills dusky eyes with wistful fantasies of twirling snowflakes,
Visions of barren aspen arms embracing shivering jewels of glittering glitz,
A carnival of crystalline jubilee in wind whipped flakes.
Winter smiles as the evening sky slowly turns her dark side inside out
From black to white to turquoise and to blue
The moon slow pulls herself above these mountain hills in festival
To ride a winter sky watching over midnight’s silver shimmering earth
Alive with twinkling moonbeam stars, bright refractions of sisters in the sky,
When the mountains glimmer cold as midnight – blue as stars –
Wearing new ermine alpine furs -cloaks of argent sparkle.

"Light Waves"
we are bioluminescent
a glimmer of hope
stardust sentient
isolated in our fate
from and through the Sun
Light waves
echoes of sound
refractions of once were
transparent
born before begun
drawn back
through the loop
baptismal
on the killshot
towards the
equal
place
the open heart
of One

Spectrum speculations on particular waves
Prismatic refractions of straight beams of light
Showing rainbows of color division
Like octaves of notes on a musical scale
Mixing on palette of chordyllic vision
To play us a picture of moody rendition
On a canvas of mirrors and smoke
Do all these colors match speed in their flight?
Or is it a mad cosmic joke?
Red particles hanging their ten with delight
Surfing a light wave of blue
With purple and green flitting madly alight
At this speed they’re smokingly true
What’s faster the red or the blue?

Rainbow Heartbeat
Pour me a rainbow
let it float on the sea
As it flows from your heart
and become a part of me
Yellow to brighten
any cloudy day
As upon the waves
it effortlessly plays
Red born of desire
undulating motion
Salty on my tongue
a passionate potion
Yes, pour me a rainbow
let it float on the sea
As it flows from your heart
and becomes part of me
Blue as bright as the sky
a twin on the water
Twinkling refractions
Poseidon’s daughter
Green like in a garden
ripples tickle my feet
Liquid luxurious
a horizon to greet
Orange to tantalise
on waters once pale
Jack O'Lantern splendour
intertwining with whales
Let me savour your rainbow
as it floats on the sea
Flowing from your heart
becoming part of me
Indigo intuition
free flowing crystal clear
Your gift upon the sea
that draws me near
Violet imagination
A vision complete
Oceans of possibilities
Your rainbow heartbeat.

Refractions of a Soul.
Reflections of that spirit.
Wondering what ?, at the hands of man, did we create.
Wondering what ?, throughout one’s life, came from the hands of fate.
Wondering what ?, in the end, will one’s life truly state.
Wondering what ?, approaching the end, will be our destiny.
Wondering what ?, when reaching that end, will it be for you and me.
We are unable to live in the moments of yesterday.
We may only live in the hours of today.
Questions seldom provide answers, only more
that let us know we may never know what is behind that door,
or what will greet us, be our forevermore.

Rhyme
Reflections
Perchance refractions
On mirror of civilization
Unveiling deep furrows-
Nausea of despair!
Ugly shadows of innocence
Haphazard ruins
Harbingers to Africa.
Mother Africa
Unleash black juju
Denounce anaemic gods and
Sing blues to negritude
Dream with Senghor
continental dreams
Dreams individual-
Like Nkrumah
A touristo blackano!
And African huts
Where come rains
To water our negritude
Come clouds
To hide our wrecks, rubble.
Robbed of freehold rights
By mayor and corporation
At slum clearance!
Acclaimed sons and daughters
Of former freedom fighters
In our misery!
Mother Africa
Forget them
Forget a touristo blackano
Behind wrecks
Behind smutty, illicit stuff
Behind oblique natives!
Forget these loud symbols of welfare
Albeit feigned
Symbols of might
Albeit loaned
Symbols of unity
Albeit fictitious
Symbols of friendship abroad…
Forget these things!
They mask the essential you
Distorting your true image
The image truly befitting
Our motherland:
The world’s caustic kaleidoscope!

The Devil spoke to me
with glee about what could be, promising, possibly,
he thumbed a drum of hearts pulsing
so I could see the drug of love
that I was missing,
a tempo true and rude impossible to elude
took my breath to the hue of blue,
reflections of calm joy and coy laughter,
refractions violent and violet floating vibrantly,
demons and angels in the flesh fighting forever for admiration
of a clever and aloof Trinity demanding dues,
he said may your body be dense and follow the sequence
of the spirits with you and never miss your cue,
I was awestruck, rendering enquiry futile
as prayers in perdition,
the clouds were copious, his face lucent & sizzling,
nefarious and dangerous these galleys and valleys are,
gamble the gambit of your soul's sanctity,
In the cold stillness consumed by a gray melody
an ancient perfume of rose blood
inflated my mind moonstruck,
a woman wise and disguised like a brilliant bandit
with persuasive eyes presented to me keys to her city,
the Daughter of my Devil was indellibly pretty and sitting lonely saying,
believe me through love and find liberty,
try your luck in rivers red
and in deep seas soliciting felicity,
pick a course and secure your rolling rope
to this feather never to pluck,
horse power and a flower dower,
love your Mother always in hallways dark,
then I was born once more -

Epic
Others think my hair
wild, untamed,
needing a coif
when all about me the wind
rustles
through the fallen leaves…
red on gold,
stamped brown,
ethereal...
substance once there,
gone
like soup
cooked for hours
to fight the chill,
tang of parsnip…
that’s the visible crop,
bushy froth
while beneath soil,
fight
the war
for a strand or lock or two
of my being...
heart untied from children
hands freed
to tap or zizzle a bow
across strings
what a jumble it all is
after the clean
prepped
pampered
soul is emptied
scraped down to metal
my hair
unwound into myself
swelling
as if a clogged pore
and I’m wondering...
is there is any
who know
how I look
undressed.

“Dreams Coercing Memory”
You want cherries jubilee
with a little Krug champagne
but soft custard is just the same
when reality plays its game
by the spoonful
morphine comes
to save the day
the light changes
subtle refractions
of dreams coercing
memory
long elegant fingers
poised painted apricots
those false '70s fingernails
tremendous talons
for Tchaikovsky takeoff
gracefully shimmering
glamorously sparkling
eyes smiling, clicking keys
without fear, the notes become
a romantic Chopin mystery
pianola peddles
next to her laughs
and says with glee,
a good exercise
back then, we didn't
have the time, says
the matriarch smiling
just like a mother
come to collect
on the other side
her sister, hand on shoulders
sits next to her
a Nightingale Linnet
the number
at pianola
3
one number
most
profound
one number
devine aligned,
most hard to forget
or push aside
kept close
in Love and loved
for all eternity
this one
as 3
should never hide

Elegy
While the U.S. Delta aircraft lands,
moving toward Simon Bolivar Airport,
humidity assaults me like my own tropical country;
people like Venezolanos and other walks of life,
emerge on the horizon with smiles and thanksgiving.
Beyond my wildest imagination,
there's parallelism in the Caribbean experience.
Food, history, literature, and even human struggles
abound with stories and gospel cries.
Roads are narrow, long and winding,
but with leafy trees giving green and delight.
Up in the hills, houses could be seen piling up
like matches or the Italian presepio background.
Traffic congestion as an everyday expectation
roads seem to be like a moving parking lot;
converging at the center or passing through the light.
It's a common reality, a great deal of acceptance.
People's religiosity draws me to think back in my own land.
It's a wealth of life that champions relationship with God.
there's depth and meaning in their strong ties to faith,
another perspective, insight and moment to highlight.
Some refractions of their past as people who struggled a lot;
migration experience shows how they wrestle with life.
Being uprooted and strangers in their newfound land,
their dreams come to fulfillment through human sacrifice.
I see how commitment and focusing can make a difference.
amid the travails, disappointments, and sorrows in life.
It's an engaging pattern that brings me to look into
where faith and hope can be needed to be able to persevere.
In a nutshell, Venezolanos too have their own share to be human.

Evenings Light
Late afternoon, rainbow colours slither across my floor,
climbs up and over my audio, my video equipment,
streaks across the covers – between which family history lies
and lights up the frames, the pictorial history before my eyes.
Mother Nature’s breath, dances shadows of forest foliage
- with Father Suns refracted rays, his rainbow children,
his multi shaped Silhouettes, shadows of animated still life -
all throughout, permeating my four cornered room
as they sway, rock, weave, dance, crawl across my walls,
walls holding onto my history, my family’s history
as we look down upon me, me in games of solitaire.
As am I, and wonder why ?, there is no dance of life
in here, except from that which comes on light waves,
floating through – reflections of forest shadows,
refractions of light ( heavens rainbow children ) –
my living, dining room, my prison window.

Piqued by the aura of your gleam
You were the hum which broke my vertical solitude
Intruder within the interlude of my vacancy
Through refractions of your eyes, you pulled me in
The wild scents wrap you in silent threat
In no time you possess me through your alluring kiss
I feel the rhythm of my beat, which melting in enigmatic bliss
Manipulated by your shifty flexibility, you stole my universe
Moreover my sanity
Still under your spell, I draw the curiosity
I let my self fall as a feather blown by the wind
You are a natural sedative beneath my subconsciousness
An antidote for my heart, but a toxic to my brain
Inspired by the quote of ALLYWALLY94
an 18 years old female poet who I met in instagram
"He was poison. You were my antidote."

Seasons,
Perpetual refractions in the sunset of time,
Float along the flow of consciousness.
Specks of dust sometimes sparkle--
Mysterious crystals
Bedazzling the mind's eye.
Others are dull bits of dirt,
Barely touching down
Before they are swept away
To be discarded.
All eventually return to earth,
A miniscule portion of the whole,
Tumbling together to create life
As a new season begins...
