Samson and Delilah

Yesterday with its yearnings and sorrow
With shadows and sunbeams at length;
Have gone where the fears of tomorrow
Took a man whose conceit was his strength.

His transient raptures brought shame
From the temptress that ravished his soul;
Taking strength and tarnished his name
From the power he had that she stole.

Sleep on in the arms that still hold you
Let your eyes not shed all their tears;
For the hand that caressed has now sold you
To the sad treachery of defiant shears.

The Philistine put out his eyes
He was bound in fetters and chains;
The darkness that brought him captivity
Took the blood that flowed in his veins.

For the ransom of a corrupt Aphrodite
When strength was extinguished by desire;
The pillars are destroyed by the mighty
While his glory has perished in fire.

DISCLAIMER: This is a tongue-in-cheek, sardonic critique
of my own poetry from the perspective of a fictitious non poetry lover. This is not aimed at any of you wonderful Soup poets... please do not be offended!

Tell me who has the time for a poem?
If there's facts to know, I want to know 'em.
You enjoy sounding Ivory Tower-y
But I don't care for words super flowery.

Your analogies and your hyperbole
Like intense gnats annoy me disturbally
I will catch all your facts as you throw 'em
But I just don't have time for your poem.

All astonishing alliterations
Will arouse in me no titillations
Your undue fascination with meter
Is not shared by this philistine reader.

Your iambic pentameter’s boring
And induces in me rhythmic snoring
You may claim it’s Shakespearean rhythm;
But perhaps we should bury it with him!

Your obtuse meta narrative's yet a bore
Please remind again, what's your meta for?
Your insipid attempts to use simile
Are like choking on smoke from my chimile.

Your pursuit of profound allegory
Should be saved for your purple prose story
But as I've said before, I've no time
To be reading your 4-stanza rhyme.

Should you give me a gift of a sonnet
I’ll be scanning for pawn shops to pawn it
Though you say if I tried hard, I'd love it
What I'd love most is if you'd just shove it!

Reading poetry takes too much work
And I'm only a mid-level clerk.
Your quatrains? I suggest you forego 'em
'Cause I just don't have time for your poem.

Man of God

I have a sword and shield
For every land that I step
All kill , destroy all
I am a man of God.

I murdered a giant
I opened the belly
Exposed guts of every man and woman
I am a man of God.

Murdered, their bodies smashed
Burned the pieces in the oven
Open heads with ax
I am a man of God.

Stole sheep , cattle, donkeys , garments
I cut off every Philistine
I did not consider woman and child
I am a man of God.

They say the devil
It's who kills, steals and destroys
But did all this and more Holocaust
Because a man of God .

Premium Member The Battle Is the Lords

The Battle is the Lord’s

How many times, brethren
have you battled with the enemy of your soul,
and hung on to people and precious possessions of which
you just wouldn’t let go?

And after those battles are over, the ole devil would take some
more tremendous blows at you,
a few spiritual black eyes and several bloody noses did occur
only to name a few.

Why you have done your best at boxing with him
and you have tried even to keep the rules,
only to find out that he doesn’t play fair
and besides, he is very, very cruel.

You have this bout and that one
and have lost a mate, money and fame,
and then slanderous stories are spread around about you
causing you to lose the integrity and confidence of your name.

But, have you read God’s Word of how Israel accomplished
the greatest of their battles,
David defeating one of Israel’s worst enemies, the Philistine army
without his nerves even getting too rattled.

Remember this, my brethren,
as you’d do well to never forget,
the battle is the Lord’s, child of God
as He is the only One Who the enemy can never outwit!

Raven

I see Raven has come to the graveyard
To gloat on her Realm of the Dead
Beautiful death bird
Posture defiant
Ready to expand on her soul cache
Ready to do her bad deeds
Poets and painters and musicians
All lie there
A treasure trove of sound, magic and line
Michelangelo, John Donne and Da Vinci
Joined by Milton and Shakespeare and Keats.
She is greedy - our raven - a philistine
She wants all that talent and genius
To feed her own beauty - surreal
To make her the Goddess of the Dead World
Where she would be praised as it's queen.

Falling In Love

What a phlox in you I find,
What a Rose Flower, oh babe:
Bright like early morning sun of xmas.
Succulent “things” like the rightly ripe pawpaw at my backyard.

Oh Babe what a beauty you are to behold –
Making gawping heads not able to eyes hold back,
Goggling eyes round whole streets turning in ogle –
Stupefying sensations sending down signals into phallic organs!

And can I contain this fire of desire?
Down my frame, too electrifying, feelings ductile,
And whole system holding spellbound, as in phantasmagoria,
A deep chill of early harmattan morning.

Oh Babe, I can see the fiery flies of love
In your luscious orbs flying, beckoning for a dear.
But can I be your bee? my sweet sixteen!
To your sweet red nipplenectars suck? like a suckling?

What a phlox in you I find,
Oh Babe, what a beauty you are to behold.
And can I contain this fire of desire?
Oh Babe, I can see fiery flies of love,

In your luscious orbs flying, beckoning for a dear,
Down my frame, too electrifying, feelings ductile,
Making gawping heads not able to eyes hold back.
What a Rose Flower, oh Babe:

Bright like early morning sun of Xmas,
Goggling eyes round whole streets turning in ogle –
And whole system holding spellbound, as in phantasmagoria.
But can I be your bee? my sweet sixteen!

To your sweet red nipplenectars suck? like a suckling.
A deep chill of early harmattan morning,
Stupefying sensations sending down signals into phallic organs!
Succulent “things” like rightly ripe pawpaw at my backyard:

Nwanyi oma, my sweet Asaba Queen: delicious Xmas stew,
I sing your conspicuous beauty, your deserving love: for am no philistine:
What a feeling too conquering to contend, aphrodisiac! –
A philter too difficult to contain, down my vein, my marrow!

Sweetie, I adore your fine phizog amatory. Wow.
A wonderful mien irresistible, cloud nine delirium tremens
Down my pliant spine killing ardour sent. Figure -8
What a towering pulchritude, a pleasant statistics!

Caught In a Cats-Hat

Caught in a Cats-hat

You obviously admire the bestiality of a canine,
Hence , you probably find me rather asinine
And the confident swagger of a *****-cat
Is grossly superior to the airs of this pretensive plutocrat.

So you will , alas, never be my concubine,
Due to my propensity for the libertine,
(not to mention the table wine)
I do not have the means of an autocrat
And have only the sensibilities of a pornocrat.

Your disposition to adore the canine and the feline
Makes me feel like a philandering Philistine.
I will always be such a yellow-dog democrat
That I quite threaten to knock off your high hat.

And now for the denouement, my valentine,
For your humble blessings I repine
For the company of furry, felinous, feral Sumi-cat
I do so miss inhabiting her habitat.

Spite

Just a little word with
So many guises

Incoherent inefficient ineffective reaction
Inconsistent blame
Vengeful malaise
Conscious disregard
Blameless resolve
Sanctimonious irksome indifference
Creative revenge
Wreckage for sport
Intensive bigotry
Hyperbolic generalisation
Disinterestedness
Complacent autocratic dogma
Crass philistine opportunism
Nimble forgetfulness
Vigorous ignorant diatribe
Impotent nostalgia

All in a day’s work for those
Whose envy knows no bound

David and Goliath

The Israeli army was facing a giant
The whole philistine army on Goliath was reliant
Send one soldier to face me he was defiant
However no Israeli soldier was compliant

Then into the camp David came
He heard the giant's challenge and his fame
He saw the Israelites whimper away in shame
And the Spirit of God did David inflame

How dare this uncircumcised against God roar
David arose willing to wait no more
With a stone in a sling and his bag had four
He released the sling and let the stone soar

The stone struck the giant's forehead
Goliath fell down for he was dead
David drew the giant's sword and chopped off his head
In terror the philistines screamed and fled

The victory won because on God did David fully trust
And if God is your refuge and strength then victory is a must
All your enemy giants will crumble and fall to the dust
For God is almighty, all knowing, never leaves you and always just

Does nothing shy but care for many too and many shy.
Nasty nice is catchy wises.
Narrow senses are wealth and places or money ranks and up-boost as places.
Narrow nationalism all is militant.
Empty soap boxes have bubble sorts for political stages.
Some elements sink but some elements up as bubbled sentiments.

The Final Argument

I am not a hater , I am a man with causes
To have peace , to set pigeons free , to share roses
The government of US , I want you just to take a guess!!
Philistine , Philistine ,Philistine is what we miss
Give it back , then may peace be
or, the friend of my enemy
is my enemy . So let it be
 So let it be.

Assyrian Babbler

Emerald shiny baubles
attract wizard eyes ...
Balaam al-Oz
Assyrian acquisitions
be kryptonite-colored vanity
Ownership is an Alexandrian transaction,
a Grecian war rhetoric reaction
Gehazi greedy ...
take all that your Philistine soul see,
as much as your twelve fingers can reach
Sennacherib eyes bald eagle beady,
tilt the full treasure chest pirate empty
Hard diamond negotiator sue for peace,
brook of deceit bubbling sulfuric words acidly
Assyrian babbler
baring the saber sharp tiger teeth
Asking for more and more
shiny baubles ,
more than a Rab-shakeh heart could ever need
Baal belly lust consume:
Pure Pul gluttony, covetous Jareb vomiting
Iscariot greedy ...
betray any and everybody
for the precious metal blood money
Venusian discovery:
Jupiter begat Mars,
typical mythical anti-hero morality
Pharaoh pyramid schemes,
beryl baubles
shining in Caesar’s coffer coffin dreams
Kill the Tyrus body ... then kill the Magog zombie spirit arising:
don't vow pitbull loyalty to a low-born licentious liege
Count the death cost for the Sisera hostile takeover campaign,
calculate the Tartan war price for the protracted siege
Assyrian babbler
don’t wanna pay for the Wall
No more dead presidents
jaded green leaves gon windfall
Assyrian babbler
you’re gonna pay for the Wall
Taxing dead presidents
levee green sacks gon Jericho fall
Assyrian babbler
give the last tour of duty trump call

March 18 Relationship to God Bible Meditations Based on 1Samuel 17-20

Key Verse– 1Samuel 13:37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

LORD GOD, YOU ARE MY DELIVERANCE CHAMPION

Lord God, You are my deliverance Champion
Who prevails against my pride
Thank You for rebuking me in engaging in worldly ride
Forgive me not following You with holy stride…
I draw near to You; in Your presence I abide.

Lord God, You are my deliverance Champion
Who purges my heart’s haughtiness
Thank You for securing me in Your gentle kindness
Forgive me not pursuing after Your righteousness…
I obey You; privileged to serve You with willingness.

Lord God, You are my deliverance Champion
Who protects my soul by Your loving
Thank You for correcting me of my vanity-craving
Forgive me not behaving wisely along divine striving…
I delight in You; dependent to You for my spiritual thriving.

Lord God, You are my deliverance Champion
Who purifies my faith in Your testing light
Thank You for illumining me about truths’ insight
Forgive me not praying with sincerity’s height…
I rejoice in You; clinging serenely to Your heart, closely tight.

Lord God, You are my deliverance Champion
Who presents my work wrought in Your hand
Thank You for allowing me to abound in Your ministry by Your command
Forgive me not fleeing from slothfulness toward diligence-stand…
I come to You; yielding to Your life-transformation that’s heavenly grand.

Lord God, You are my deliverance Champion
Who pacifies my mind, cleansed from iniquity
Thank You for granting me pardon for my sin-confession by Your grace-verity
Forgive me not claiming Your assurance of security whenever I’m guilty…
I hide in You; trusting Your guidance toward peaceful safety.

Lord God, You are my deliverance Champion
Who pours unto me Your favour
Thank You for upholding me in my faithful stewardship-endeavour
Forgive me not complying to You with my best commitment-fervour…
I cleave to You; blessed to enjoy doing Your perfect will of compassion-savour.
