A Pair of Brown Eyes

it comes in rapid progression
parting reality with subtle lisps. brown eyes
a forest floor of fern
   ever changing with the seasons
	         (a smile, a smirk)

preying hands collapsing
across sable skin too soft to wear. desire
wanting nothing more than
a moment prescribed as birds fly northeast
	         ( a touch as noticeable)

just a sidewalk untraveled.	saturated
by the wishful wisp of morning
softness of dew fingertips, thrust of a pulse
wanting nothing more than to be inhaled
	        (breath chasing the calm)

sensation measuring the lazy waltz
of the second hand,
time calculating reflections.	frozen
in the simplest seldom fleeting look
	       (walking while talking)

our embrace mimic the trees
arm in arm--stride in stride
you have become myself.	scent
of winter chanting a glance mirrored by deflection
	      (welcome the bundle of fire)

twisting our words imitating sounds
nearby vultures at a feast. carnivores
circling our mouths with no purpose
wanting to say what we know
	     (speechless sleep)

awkward postures resembling
Greek gods bathing in spilled nectar.	measurement
of mathematical equations
     melding together thoughts through
                    (a passing glimpse)

A Pair of Boots

There was a day, a specific day,
When a pair of boots stopped walkin.
Leaving no average prints on the way,
That an average man could walk in.

Each step he trod was a step of faith,
All knew who walked beside him,
None were better or less than another
For friendship was this man’s fulcrum.

These boots had walked not an easy path
The hide battered from heel to toe,
By the rocks and briars of his past,
His battle, not letting it show.

Always found at other’s need
With a solution or a suggestion,
Sacrifice was his way of life
About that, there is no question.

To many, these boots all weathered and worn
Have no value at all to be told,
But the wise all know the boots strength is it’s soul
And Terry’s boots should be gold.
And Terry’s boots should be gold.

There was a day, a specific day
When a pair of boots stopped walkin,
They continue to lead me down a path of life
I daily strive to walk in.

Thanks Dad

peppered lust hot shake of cayenne -
beware palpitations' attack!

naughty ninjas, stilettos black
dainty daggers traipse teasingly
beware palpitations’ attack;

Two Different Pair of Shoes

She knew not of a simple life,
only a complicated oblivion-
She sought not material things,
just imagined a good world to live in.
She believed not in herself,
yet in other’s opinions and notions-
She was a compassionate woman,
full of love and devotion.

One day she’d cry,
the next she’d smile-
One day she’d comply,
the next she’d defy.

She wore two pair of shoes.
Each pair for a different mood-
She knew only joy then sadness,
her sanity turns into madness.

One pair red, one blue,
one very high, one too low-
Her inconsistency grew,
here and there, to and fro-
On which path should she go?

One pair shiny, one dull,
one very smooth, one too soft-
Each separate foot left to mull,
she was quite confused too oft-
Downward spirals then aloft.

She knew not of an elementary life,
but knew she had too much to lose-
for she was just a mother and a wife,
wearing two different pair of shoes.

A Singular Pair

A singular pair

Your feelings, your emotions,

Are they mine to share?

Your frustrations, your insecurities,

Is that my cross to bare?

Are we singular, a unit,

Or are we a pair?

Are your struggles my own

If our future we share?

Togetherness means one,

But are we not two?

Do I live for myself?

Or do I live for you…

A Pair of Fives

Hormones make the Endocrine System work
They’re always around, they always lurk.
And they do so many things
And to the body the blood always brings
So many chemicals all over abound
Each only binds to specific receptors found.
Sometimes they’re high, sometimes they’re low
And hormones always absolutely go
Via the blood until it finds,
Its special receptor, where it binds.
And no matter what you think you knew
There’s only five things they generally do.

Membrane potential, a hormone can alter,
And so a cell’s function will never falter.
When they alter membrane potentials we know
And that always means information will flow.

Protein synthesis, too, gets involved
And making large molecules soon gets resolved.
They can cause proteins synthesis in the cell
By turning on genes that work so well.

Enzyme modifications are also the norms
They can activate second messenger forms.
And when it does, it can certainly cause,
Enzyme activity or enzyme pause.

Secretions, too, the cell will spit out,
Due to the hormone, because of its clout.
And what is the importance of what the hormones’ issues
These cells spew out substances to affect other tissues.

Then there’s the last, reproductive in nature
Mitosis and meiosis, both important in stature.
Both types of cell division are obviously affected,
Another example of hormones, reflected.

Premium Member Those Pair of Latent Eyes

She has a pair of subtle eyes to brood in forlorn,
the vile tale of heart rending cacophonic dissolution.
Those eyes were meek, never crude
to yearn the ties of proximity longed!
Those meek adorable eyes have endured
the absolute phases of reckless decimation:
have witnessed the brutal armageddon
of its plunderers desolation,
who have thwarted her genial expectations!

She has those mystic musing eyes
to impulse in pensive disposition,
an amiable abode of assured assertion,
to recreate the invisible affable bonding of elation;
a placid reciprocating ambience of virtuous relation:
has flair for the protection, the care, the infallible affection,
despite, those hands' propensity for imprudent desolation!

Those pair of sober eyes longed to thrive in composure and attention; in delectation, never in aversion!
Oh! what a horrific sight, with the axes in the hands,
the slayers and usurpers of its tranquil serenity
are waiting like sordid savages for her dire extinction!

Her latent moistened eyes are witnessing the march of those executioners:
are sobbing in utter horror and dismay,
cursing and shrieking quietly her non kinetic endeavours,
to conserve the sacred entity in virgin forests; pristine,
from the unscrupulous callous ventures of the predators.

She has those whimpering eyes to foresight;
to remind the dire repercussions
of dereliction of reckless deviations;
Are wailing and mourning in utter seclusion,
the ceaseless thumps of the usurpers' annihilation.

Those Pair of Latent Eyes are Nature's Eyes, neither vague, nor obscured:
silently screeching and watching,
the relentless heedless ravagers' devastations,
Not yet any restoration, despite beseeching imploration,
needless to predict, will reveal in various manifestations!

Premium Member Love Is Like a Comfortable Pair of Slippers

True Love is like a pair of comfortable slippers
that go together, but don't quite fit
but have room to grow and give
when their lived in.

They get worn and a bit dog eared over time
but, become so hard to throw away
because they are comfortable and familiar
They are betterl as a pair
than in their own

Premium Member A Pair of Shoes

I tried to walk from my shadow
My feet faltered
     and walked the other way
My shadow stopped
     hesitated
     shuffled his feet

One pair of black shoes stayed behind

He waited
     tried to build up volume
     but didn't succeed
Every time his feet approached the light
     they appeared
     inanimate

The shoes remained hollow

I watched
     from a distance
I was going to lose
if I wasn't able to subdue the shadow
     and this
     strange fight for my shoes

Winter was coming
     and it would be cold

He frantically moved along the wall
his long legs slid across the floor

The shoes remained stoically

     without any feeling
     on the floor
     unused

I dived, struggled with the shadow
     and won
     captured him in the shoes
     now filled with darkness

I could never use them again
I faced the cold with shoeless feet

     didn't feel them anymore
     they might fall off
     or become relics

robins swoosh around
up and down the pear tree stands
gails blew pollen dusts

robins left the tree
fearing a storm will blow hard
the pear tree was sad

a new pair dropped by
finches revel with raindrops
pear tree smiled, birds soothed

Premium Member One of a Pair

It was a cold winter day on the Fundy Bay when the wind and the Ocean Raged

You were a child with the sweetest smile who walked through a storm for a mile

Over the frozen sand as I held your hand, we made our way to the land

Up over the banks past the shipyard tanks and a pile of old wooden planks

Homeward bound as the snow fell down and wood shavings blew all around

I held your hand like a grown man the way that your Mother planned

Keeping you warm from the day I was born together we weathered the storm

I was made by a hand, with wool from a lamb, with love knitted in every strand

As soft as a kitten and Oh! So smitten, I...Just one of pair of mittens.

An Unlikely Pair

An Unlikely Pair

Two animals were flying through the trees.
Happily singing were they, a bird and a bee.
Effervescently fluttering like magic fairies.

Before the sun had risen very high,
Iridescent wings beneath the sky
Raising their bodies each one spry.
Delighted wafting on the wind two fly.
Soaring as new heights they defy.

An adventure shared by an unlikely pair.
Nevertheless, an implausible friendship was in the air.
Dipping, diving, buzzing and chirping with flare.

Together enjoying all that nature had to offer.
Hummer was a princess and Tweedy a bachelor.
Eagerly, they explored excited by love’s flicker.

Before long, they were talking about birds loving bees.
Everybody knows that bees do not marry birdies.
Each one wanted to know more about the birds and the bees.
Since the subject is touchy…they flew home and asked their mommies.
