Best Overpriced Poems
It makes me sad
to read such wonderful prose
hidden only cause many seem impaired
lighting dimmed
softness fades
missing true gems, for glittered dreams
Like ones travels
explore
discover hidden Lanes
quiet places are better to savour
wine and enticing poetry
taste better than overpriced grapes
Many are fooled by
by the popularity of bellwethers
who could swindle the pence
out of their mothers purse
actions and words completely reversed
poetry escapes them, rants are not verse
Seekers of praise
purchase their attention
I rather true poets
expressing life's true reflections
nothing has changed
time passes, is always the same
Stained ink on meaningless pages
Elderly man’s fishing net hangs in his shed
The fish he caught in his backyard stream multiply
Net use was banned; he couldn’t afford a pole
Joy and sustenance gone, a tear falls from his eye
House Bill 875 would ban backyard farms
Forcing vegetable growers to invest cash
In overpriced produce on supermarket shelves
Uncle Sam flexes his muscle, makes his whip lash
The right to freely worship is endangered
As prayer is prohibited in public schools
Government intrusion invades all our lives
Public pleas are not heard by those who make rules
Freedom to choose our doctors is now threatened
Socialized medicine diminishes choice
Speech censorship? Just ask the Smothers Brothers
Who canceled their own show with a stifled voice
As crime escalates, look to the constitution
The NRA spends billions to protect Americans' rights
To bear arms against oppressors while thieves laugh
And sue owners of homes invaded in the night
Can this be what our forefathers had in mind
When they sought to escape a king’s tyranny?
Our rights are being limited more each day
In a nation spawned to promote liberty
Natural disasters prelude Judgment Day
Eerie escalation – tsunamis, earthquakes
But perhaps when the dust finally settles
Those who survive will learn from our past mistakes
Governments will form only to preserve peace
Not to strip away rights ancestors pursued
Don’t blink! Precious freedoms are now endangered
By those who feel they’re elected to intrude
The Life we now live seems but a deceitful drain
Rules abound that keep us all in chains
When will our saviour show us
We are in his favour
Blessed are the rich for they can afford the price rises
Essentials are so far out of reach for us already on our knees
We constantly pray
For what we gravely need
Blessed are the police for they can do as they please
They trample us in their lustful hate of society
Despite claiming to be our big brother
Blessed are the artful for they will dodge anything
And pay an unfair share of taxes
By buying government policy
Blessed are the bankers for they have ruined the day
Lending to us who could not control our spending
But now have to face reality
Blessed are the politicians for they always know what not to say
And lie at election time so convincingly
That we foolishly believe their comedy
Blessed are the immigrants
For they at first appear foolhardy
Working long hours for less money
Till they realise they have rights like everybody
Blessed are the celebrities
For they have distracted us well
From the day to day hell in which we dwell
Blessed are the peaceful for they are useful after a riot
And can calm some but only for a short while
Till the government causes a decline in the economy
Blessed are the rioters for they know the value of greed
And covet an unpaid for flat screen TV
That was too overpriced if bought legitimately
Blessed are the gangs for they rule the streets
And act like feral cats
Till they end up six feet under
Blessed are the silly for they believe the news
And have a forgetful countenance
And will always blame somebody
Blessed are the over-spender
Who keep the internet in boom
Even though it’s unaffordable credit card spending
That will cause future misery
Blessed are the middle classes for they take all the school places
And the jobs and all the cream
And anything they can carry
Blessed are the reporters
For they know how to fan the flames of discontent
With their distilled forgetful hate
That shows gross prejudices
Blessed are the simple folks who the world passes by so quickly
And who seem so unfairly happy
Long may they remain cloaked in insanity
And finally blessed are the people for they will rise up eventually
Another day
When despair can’t be held at bay
Valentine, shmalentine
Chocolate adds to her behind
Sugar doesn't make her sweeter
It costs a fortune tryin' to feed 'er
Jewelry, shmewelry
Better think twice
It's mass produced
And overpriced
Cupid, shmupid
You know that's fake
Angels don't shoot arrows
Give me a break!
January 20217
No Mickey, Minnie, or Goofy- no Jimmy The Cricket
The spirit of Sodom is Gomorrah...what I see is plain "Wicked"
Neon lit buildings and business bright nights...
A terse description of 8th Ave - I see somethings not right
Jailbait pimps fishing for girlish age bodies
Port of Authority freaks craving school boy young hotties
A bunco, a scam - the cards of "Monte" are three...
White kids from Jersey seeking fake/fresh Ids
Cabbies waiting for fares/get their plates/it's too late
Little courtesy or English and overpriced rates
Electronic stores, you have restaurants; a myriad of stands
that vend snacks
You can have a wad roll of money, yet still looked at if Black
The Homeless Are Human, it's the truth not conjecture
It seems to keep them sans housing gives Midtown its texture
Fleabag hotels are great bargains/I've heard there's four legged pests
You've paid your money - there's danger, but you still can't have guests
Mounted units, Blue grunts to keep the rich ones protected
The last Toe Tag said "No One", why wasn't that crime detected?
A Vagrant says that he's hungry to everyone that he greets
You can't see the flame touch the Pyrex/it's the crack that he eats
On the trains I see animals, sometimes you'd think a new species
Most of those stations need cleaning....in my sight Human Feces
Poetiq visions/my heart troubled/ I had no choice but expound
It goes down daily in the Crab Apple/New York City....Midtown
Now, books made of pulp are amusing antiques;
We people who buy them are all hopeless geeks.
We don't need to waste any wood when instead
We can access the Web whilst we lie there in bed.
So, why are we still killing trees without end
When all that a writer must do is press "send"?
I don't understand lumber mills of destruction
For products that could go instead for construction.
Just why do we keep subsidizing those crooks
By shelling out money for overpriced books?
They know very well that they're robbing us blind,
But the joke is on us 'cause we don't seem to mind.
And we ruin our vision by squinting so much
To the point where we might have to live just by touch.
So why don't we just look for an alternate way
To enjoy all those novels and not have to pay?
A much better approach, if the truth's to be told,
Is to listen to stories as in Days of Old.
In our modern parlance it is called, "Audio",
But don't ask how it works, 'cause I surely don't know.
The lyeberry's a place where you borrow for free
The recordings on tape, not to mention C.D.
Their collections grow huge as the years roll on by,
So you'll never run out 'til the day that you die.
That kid I saw in Rio,
I can’t forget him,
He hung on my arm, amidst overpriced, flashy hotels,
Past the nightclubs and dazzling neon lights,
That draws tourists like flies to a cottage porch light,
……..
The mix of poor and rich, lined the corners and formed the scenery,
In a city of black and white, no shade of gray,
He was following me, but where did he stay?
Was it in the Favela?
His eyes told me it was far away from the twinkle of riches,
His voice spoke of urgent desperation,
Sir, sir, he said, with subtle hope and aspiration….
To see a kinder world, than the one he’s seen so far,
To hope for so much more, to reach up for the stars,
. …….
Of all the versions of hello, I’ve singed into my mind,
Through all the coasts I’ve moored, and all the docks my ship has lined,
Where body language bridged the gap with those from distant lands,
When the unknown caused uncertain fear in greeting fellow man,
Amidst the seas that roared as if the hand of God propelled them,
There's that kid I saw in Rio, and I'll be damned if I forget him.
The Real Housewives
Sorry
Reality T.V Housewives
What's that all about
Happy Wife
Happy life
Jesus Christ
Thank God for Nannies
And Cleaner's
And Make up Artist's
Imagine any of these
Without the 3 R's to fall back upon
Rich's
Rrendering
Rhinoplastey
And a cheating Husband
All of the diamonds and all the plastic surgeons
Can't polish a turd
Even if it's covered in gold
Mutton dressed as lamb
Doesn't make a housewife
Real housewives are loved not built
Are Mother's
Not Reality Consumerist martyrs
Dressed in overpriced garters
With fake teeth
Fake smile's
Fake Boobs
And even faker marriages
With bleached and trimmed undercarriages
Slam
Sham
Film flam
Acting like there **** don't stink
Because they are so full of botox
They can't even blink
Can only be watched with the aid of a stiff drink
The mind boggles
How low can we go
Watch the show
THE SECOND COMING OF AN IMMACULATE MIS-CONCEPTION
I hear preachers claim that Jesus walks by my side
Alas, Jesus has also lasciviously lied
I can’t see Jesus with my very own eyes
Yet with my eyes I read all of His lies
The Bible promises that Jesus always protects me
Until our Lord ultimately rejects me
I know the Son Of Man is supposed to be my Lord
But quite frankly by my Lord I am
frightfully bored
I am married to Jesus, at least that’s what I read in His Holy Word
Yet now I seek the seclusion of divorce and the freedom of a flight blessed bird
Jesus made a mansion for those he sets free
Well Jesus would rather I live under a rotted and well-weathered tree
Jesus healed the sick and also fed the poor
As for me he has only a well slammed front door
Jesus took water and in His chalice wine was made
Only I was there and know He used a packet of grape Kool-Aid
And if you tell me in His time Kool-Aid wasn’t even known
I’ll tell you that Jesus created it for His use alone
Jesus could have taken his act on the road
But He wouldn’t have been so popular since David Copperfield can turn a tiger into a toad
Jesus took fishes and loaves and fed a whole mess of folks
Well you didn’t hear it from me but He also dispensed eggs with no yolks
And when Jesus created mankind he made trillions of very sick jokes
Yesterday I bought a Bible but it was way overpriced
and that's another grievance i have with Jesus Christ
They say He came for sinners and the righteous alike
Well my lesbian sister knows that your Mary Magdalene was a hard core dike!

Continually facing struggles
Remaining puzzled
Going too hard straining muscles
Punks always out making trouble
Many in labs out to clone, attempts at creating doubles
So many shell-shocked
Others being fools while well off
Too many people quick to tell lots
They either say truth or sell crock
Had to change this
Less of the same
It took an occasional lane switch
Problems incoming, I took on and faced quick
Regardless if you understand the main gist
A lot of phenomenon and this world can't explain it
Don't be an ignoramus
It's not conspiracy or about getting famous
Why do continual acts occur that are heinous
Times were very far from the greatest
I was headed towards the grave if
I didn't get wiser and become one of the bravest
It's been difficult on a daily basis
I need to jump into a lake
Take a break
Gosh dangit
A heart of gold or soul cold like polar ice
To this day, so much is overhyped
And overpriced
Just not the same as prototypes
On top of that we got all these socialites
It never has been so polite
When it came to voting rights
Roses and Thorns 1. 10 .16
Lest we pray for forgotten dreams while remembering times where the light shone upon our faces, a warmth invigorating shining brightly.
Before the liars became king stripping us of our humanness and dignity for cash rewards with penthouse views, cocktails and cash always firmly with their reach.
I being naive in my youthful thinking warm intentions could make a difference a sad joke told by fools the jesters crown shines in the landfill, decaying
Bones aging smiles fading as the actors fade from view leaving the audience to decide their fates a reversal of fortunes it’s live or die? What have you decided?
Rose and Thorns beauty and ugliness who decides who gets which? Life is not particular in her choices, Does anyone care for tattered dreams and broken lives many alive by chances fate
Driving by shattered windows and shoeless children do the haves of the world worry for them or perhaps just for their shiny machines and overpriced dinners cash buys luxury et all the trimmings too.
Where does the road lead from here? Left, Right, Straight ahead? into a Society devoid of compassion, love choking on greed’s deliberate touch immense telling all I am here! Beware!
Standing tall in the face of uncaring spirits in white Linen suits the few must fight on for freedom as it is for all citizens, young, old, time is now to lift them up regain humanity peace for all, harmony reconnected.

I served my hat, and boy I served it well
and everyone in the church could tell
everyone was able to taste, the full splendour of my hell.
All eyes dropped and even glasses fell.
even heaven rang a bell.
I served that hat and served it right
this was truly my delight
Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!!!! it was overpriced, and I will not and shall not wear it twice
I served it up nice and strong
even wore my matching thong
on my row, no one could hang
I'm a diva at top of my game.
I served my hat, and I began to slay
everyone new I didn't come to play
I'm a true mademoiselle
I served it so enchanted, it cast a spell
they all stepped back and let me by
I took no prisoners and this is why.
I aim to please and satisfy.
to all my ladies, you must comply
Serve that Hat straight to the sky.
Real Estate Jargon Explained
By Elton Camp
When a house is for sale there’s good reason why
Trouble can come to anyone who advertises a lie
If the sellers certain expressions carefully choose
It will become easy the careless buyer to confuse
“This house is simply loaded with charm.”
Means we hope old and ugly won’t alarm
If you see it’s a “Pet friendly neighborhood,”
Dog manure in your yard should be understood
The praising note, “Easy access to the freeway”
Means thousands will pass your house each day
Beware the notation of “Low maintenance lot.”
Since neither front nor back yards have you got
“Historic house maintained in its original state”
It is a run-down old relic that you soon will hate
“It’s a doll house that you are going to adore.”
The house’s tiny rooms you’ll come to deplore
“The dwelling is located on a fine corner lot”
Then traffic both front and sides you have got
If the place is described as “Ready to move in,”
Then painted with the cheapest grade it has been
“A desirable neighborhood” means that its location
Has made it overpriced due to a snobbish reputation
If of “In-city living” the seller proudly does tell
Not safe to walk after dark it should say as well
If it is a “Handy-man special,” then better look out
The old place is ready to collapse without any doubt
If the advertisement should say, “Lots storage space,”
The basement is nothing but a dark, moldy disgrace
If the selling point is of “Seasonal water view,”
It means water was visible before the trees grew
If the seller says that “All your lot is usable land,”
You can know that not a single tree still does stand
If “Close to shopping” the advertisement does call
It means your backyard is adjacent to the big mall
When the imperative is that you must “See inside,”
It has a horrid exterior that is impossible to hide
If it is happily described as “Cozy, it should be read
That no room is big enough to contain a full-size bed
This is how “Make an offer” you actually should take:
It’s been long on the market so don’t make a mistake
The inviting phrase is “Watch wildlife from your patio”
You can expect to get ticks and fleas if outside you go
So if your house purchase in a year you will praise,
Watch carefully for the real meaning of each phrase
The big, old chair
smelled of dust and food and sweat.
Full of peanut shells, dog hair and
spider webs, I set it out on the curb with a
FREE sign on it.
Tim, who took his own life last year,
bought it during one of his
visits to my little town.
He needed a chair he could
sleep in. He was no longer able to sleep
laying down.
Tim's VISITING chair
came from the local
store that has a perpetual SALE sign
painted on their window
in giant, orange, gaudy script.
Overpriced, low-end
furniture, but free delivery.
I wrestled the chair from the living
room and drug it to the curb
in the rain.
It was gone in three days when
the person made sure
no one was watching
and took it away,
soaking wet,
to its new home.
Tim and the chair
had things in common.
Both were too large
and
both grew
too uncomfortable
after a time.
A Visit To The Flea Market
By Elton Camp
Over 200 vendors the sign does say
Leave the Interstate to come our way
For here you’ll find bargains galore
How could you possibly ask for more
The advertising signs made us bite
We wanted to learn if they’re right
As soon as we went through the door
There was a stench we did abhor
Of moldy old things that are unclean
I’m sure that you know what I mean
Who would ever once have thunk
There could be such overpriced junk
“Oh, but they’re treasures,” some say
But we didn’t come to see it that way
Tacky figurines were laying everywhere
Even if they’re free, what would we care
There was Elvis on velvet poorly drawn
It was enough to produce such a yawn
Two cherubs an ugly lamp did support
From China it was a sleazy import
We saw a sofa faded, worn and torn
It was surely made before I was born
But then, what a pleasant surprise
The object that fell before my eyes
It was a magnificent moose head
Just right to go above my bed
With it under my arm, I went out the door
Very glad that I stopped at that fine store
