Premium Member A Romantic Fool

I beg him for a kiss
As he heads out to the door
I’m crushed by his response
“We’re not teens anymore

It’s been twenty years
Why don’t you act your age?”
And I’m left to wonder
Am I a fool or sage?

Does romance have a life span?
Does it vanish with passing years?
Am I a hopeless fool
For romance to flow in tears?

Does romance touch a heart
Only once or twice through life?
Is it only a welcomed guest
When you’re a young and pretty wife?

Then I must be a fool
For romance is the air
It’s in the pretty flowers
Oh, I see it everywhere

It’s when I look around me
And revel in nature’s hue
It’s when my heart will burst
When making love so true

I am simply dipped in romance
From my head down to my toes
It rains down from the sky
When I point up the garden hose

It whispers in the wind
That flirts with me at night
It’s in the flickering glow
That lights up a love filled night

I breathe in romance daily
From scented candles in my room
It’s in each line of the books
That make me sigh and swoon

He says I overdo it
And it just makes my heart bleed
Romance is what I thrive on
It’s an ever present need

I guess I’m just a fool
For romance fills my head
But take that away from me
And I might as well be dead.

Goodbye

Though I've begged and I've pleaded,
       Not wanted, but needed
A little help, a little hope,
       Not this endless, mindless choke
       Untraditional love at it's best
And I fear I know the rest
The butterflies long gone, the kisses so few
This goodbye seems almost so long overdo
Though it hurts, though I'm scared
       I'm missing what's so rare
       I'm really missing you
Or the one that I knew
We have lost and I can't try
To finish making it all right

Overacheiver

I did better than all the rest
but that was normal for me
to lose a bit of sleep
just so I could do good
but you just don’t understand
why I do this all the time
I have to and although it seems odd
it’s true for just me and not you
the only way I get seen
is to overdo everything
I’m smart but not that smart
pretty but not gorgeous
I fit in but only just that
maybe if I had many talents
my family would see
but here I am plain Jane
with nothing special to my name
all my talents are not unique
just as good as other people’s
and always someone can do it better
so here I am overachiever
just so they may see me
even if it is just this once
maybe so I can gain a moment
from that name plain Jane
with no other talents to her name

Who Knew

who knew?

firstoff, i wish to say, but not overdo,
that i never knew, what the new gnu knew
he never really said very much, and i knew
he wouldn't as such, since, being a new gnu
he hadn't much clue 'bout what to do

the previous gnu had a more worldly view
from Kalamazoo journeyed east to Timbuktu
beyond Katmandu south, down to old Peru
been many places, wore out many a shoe
but always believed that he'd come through

he got entangled with a bit of a shrew
a South American sheep, a hot-blooded ewe
that took every opportunity to scold and spew
venomous accusations that were mostly untrue
she really raised a big hullabaloo

he, being the good gnu we all knew
tried to smooth her feathers, to gently subdue
her wild angers towards that wildebeest
but, to little avail to say the least
yet it was the best the old gnu knew to do

he bleated that his love for her was true
she neighed loudly that no, they were through
she saw him now, from a whole different view
said she was leaving, that he should not pursue
for all she cared, he could turn into glue

she knew now she wanted the new gnu to woo
the new gnu knew amorously what would quickly ensue
but couldn't overcome with analytical review
certainty of grief from passions point of view
love's cliff came careening into abysmal view

"Ewe are what I want" the new gnu cried anew
in turn the ewe replied "i will always love you"
we'll build a life we always wanted, long overdue
have many children, a whole herd, a gnu ewe crew
we'll be happy ever after, in our own petting zoo

the new gnu thought he'd just follow through
but things went awry, let's say, far askew
the new gnu knew he'd met his own Waterloo
it wasn't long, you know, 'fore the ewe went skidoo
without even so much as a fond adieu

then the new gnu and the old gnu began to renew
a friendship, from which they both, had withdrew
i don't wish to insinuate, and not misconstrue
the bond of companionship the gnus lovingly grew
when old bonds are severed another comes on cue

now the gnus know what all beings should too
happiness and contentment depends on your view
you never know what the turn of your screw
in pursuit of a felicity, unknown hitherto
gets new gnu possibilities coming out of the blue

...thank you...

Fur Trader

Pantoum about Ernie Petersen,
Trader At Rose Prairie

Fur Trader

The buyer and trapper jawed trade
“What’s fur fetching at the Winnipeg auction?”
At Rose Prairie the deals was made
At the wood burning stove with caution

“What’s fur fetching at the Winnipeg auction?”
Cold winter makes pelt with heft.
The buyer fingers a beaver with caution.
“You’ve got four winters of debts still left.”

Cold winter makes pelt with heft
He checks account ledgers for bills overdo.
At jawing for credit the trapper was deft
“I needs credit for more than just stew.”

The buyer checks account ledgers for bills overdo.
The trapper needs wire, bullets, sugar, sour dough.
Doesn’t think of account ledgers or bills overdo
For a night with Maxime he’s in need of some dough.

The trapper needs wire, bullets, sugar, sour dough.
The buyer pours the brewed coffee and stokes the wood stove.
Says synthetic fur drove the auction real low.
Celebrities protested before the fur market dove.

He pours the brewed coffee and stokes the wood stove.
They chat about beaver, lynx and grey fox.
He tops up the mugs from the whisky alcove.
Talks of kids, dogs, and women and child lost to pox.

They chat about beaver, lynx and grey fox.
They share season from cabins, and tales of trap line.
They share bannock and bacon and butter from box
Of seasons they talk when barter was fine.

They share season from cabins and tales of trap line.
The buyer gives trapper snuff dark and sweet
Closes the deal with a ball of tough twine.
Then he sharpens a knife to serve some moose meet.

The buyer and trapper jawed trade.

How Do I Take a Shower

Google it
...

Soap and plumbing shopping spree?
Several articles that all disagree

A hot one makes you look old
But few can tolerate the cold

Some “experts” say it’s best at night
Others consider bed-head fright

Don’t overdo it and do take care
Here’s a schedule to condition my hair

Soaps and scrubs all organic
Or just a sudsy bar in a panic

All these rules and regulations!
I don’t even know--what’s exfoliation?

Did my research and still haven’t started
Just...ugh! How do you turn on the water!?

Leave It At That

7/31/22

Can't get time back
Regardless if I tip my hat
Going down a different path
I'll leave it at that

No matter if it's been a rotten day
They always got a lot to say
Then towards god they pray
I go my own way and walk away
I overdo it at times I gotta pay
The process is drawn out or occurs andale`

With a quickness
Spreading like a sickness
Always trying to stick their nose in my business
You've no idea, because for you everyday is Christmas
One wrong move, you write me up and give me tickets
Even though you were the only witness
I don't need anyone's forgiveness
Listen, I want to hear the sound of crickets
Own a home and land with a fence made of pickets

Another stupid verbal assault
Trying to make it seem like I'm all at fault
I take it with a grain of salt
Then continue on, such matters can't cause me to halt
As I travel across the asphalt
At night often drinking liquor with or without Malt

He bluffs and she sucks
All these cheap f***s
So surprised when I speak up
It's been ongoing for more than three months

Premium Member Tickle Me Pink

Why don’t you go and tickle me pink?
When I’ve had enough, I’ll give a wink.
If you overdo,
I just might turn blue.
I might throw up my guts in the sink.

Sunburn

Deliciously deceiving smile
Emits a spectrum of light emotion.
You are worshipped and feared by all
Dictator through and of all seasons
But you can take your toll at times, you overdo it.
And prepare us for the battle
Of hopelessly empty days.
We think we can absorb you,
Be you for a moment, and perhaps
Even keep you for a while?

Below our bronze-plated armor
Our skin blisters and burns with the
Anticipation of tomorrow
Through listless dance
We indulge in your temptation, we give in.
Some things just aren’t forever...
And I can’t believe in you anymore
You’ll be gone before we know it

Nine months later is your rebirth
And another time to shine
With your arrival comes relief,
And with your passing, regrets.

A Pepperoni and Mushroom Biscuit Pizza Winter Day

the snowflakes make your smile shine
i laugh softly as you try to catch one on your tongue
you are completely careless and totally unaware of life and what it is
six hours removed from leaving the hospital after your ninth heart surgery,
i just let you be free because by golly you deserve it
i think i will surprise you with your favorite pepperoni and mushroom biscuit pizza
then again, i better stay right here and make sure you do not overdo it
while lost in thought, i feel you give me a slight nudge
you tell me that you are a bit tired, so we go inside the house, warm up, and just sit still for a spell
then you whisper in my ear the words i saw coming since the first look in your perky brown eyes....'pepperoni and mushroom biscuit pizza'
i look down at you and smile and say 'okay'....and in the kitchen we go
so warm the Blessed Feeling

Premium Member When I Opened That Door

And then I opened that door
Oh how sweet was the sight that came to my eyes
My feet, my lungs, my whole body felt so sore
My house, my room, my couch, why it all seemed to be paradise!

Yes, see you, I have done a big blunder
I came out of it, thankfully
All I ever wanted to do was to be a cool journeyer
One who enjoyed long walks in the country

That day, I woke up at five, left home at six
Walked to the hills with the help of sticks
Watched the sunrise
Being, by such beauty, all mesmerized!

I sat up on the hill
I sat up and let my heart be still
I closed my eyes, and smiled
Why, thought I, life's miseries are sometimes worthwhile!

I chose to sit for a while
The scene unveiled itself to me in great style
How beautiful seemed to be grass wet with dew
Why, now, though still young, I did feel like I have lived through!

I lost track of time, I sat there for I don't know how long
At last, I did choose to get back home
That was when the rain started pelting; I knew I had to keep strong
I knew I had to, if I wanted to get back home, where it's safe and warm!

I climbed down the hill in haste, hoping lightning would not strike my body
I slipped, fell in the mud, got back up on my feet and tried to be steady
I walked on, I was drenched, I could not see my way
I really thought, my soul, on the hill on that day, would stay!

I walked on, with the sound of thunder roaring over my head
I prayed to be kept alive, in such a way, I did not want to be dead
I knew not when I reached some road
Some road with an unknown destination as its lead!

I looked left and right
Knowing not which way would lead me home safe
I was all moved with fright
For the worst did I brace

That was when a weird looking truck came towards me
The driver saw me and stopped, feeling for me, some pity
I'm lost, I said, can you help me reach home
Sure, he said, sure, get in I'll get you home!

All the way, he talked, he laughed, he joked
Still I was in fright
When I saw my neighborhood at last, from my daze I woke
Thanked the man heartily and rushed to my home with, in my heart, a jolt!

And when I opened that door
Oh you know not how it left me, all that was sore
I survived the worst of what I chose to do
Now, I did learn that it is not good at all, to overdo!

Biko Chere Chukwu Please Wait On God

I can see.
Flood of tears streaming down your delicate face.
Your rosy life replaced by a topsy turvy one faught with failure.
Filled with disappointments that have deprived you of precious sleep.
Laden with bouts of miscarriages and recurring rounds of ailments.

I can hear;
The deep groans you utter in your anguish.
The whimper you wish to suppress every time the belt of your supposed better half touches you.
The deep breaths you take before going into the doctors office,
And the bitter cry when you are tagged unfruitful by your mother in law.

Nwa nnem.
Jide Chukwu Ike.
Move away from that bottle and make your way towards His temple.

With a little belief, approach His temple.
With a little strength, kneel at His feet.
With a genuine heart, thank Him for the times of plenty.
With a sincere heart, pour out your heart in prayers.
With a determined resolve, make a vow or seed offering to Him.

Naught more I can say.
Much more He can do.

For He is Jehovah overdo.
Surprising Sarah with a child in her old age.
Granting Esther favour in the sight of her peoples overlords
Using a little boy in David to bring victory to his nation.

Just believe auntie.
All will be well uncle.
He shall fight for you and you will hold your peace.

Chess and Cruelty

I
Practising something
Winning takes thinking
Like the world
Values curtailed, curled

II
Add anonymity
Online carefree community
Some will begin games
Not play; hope you go away
Courtesy questioned; charged with abandonment
Social contract corrected less fast (for content)

III
We play games
For variety, virtual community
Go everywhere, in His Peace, Shalom
Try always, to live your values, decorum
Yet, what shall one do? Use BLOCK!
ONLINE, we are unlikely to take stock
So play to see, as guest, good sport

Be Wise, but more, Be A Good Sport. The social - media editors overdo little problems ... I understand the tough balancing act. Just had these thoughts 1-2 years ago, when I played almost daily (CandyCrush & online chess).

HAVE A LISTEN

No one could stand it
A long quiet period
Yes! intense quiet
We who are so used to noise
We would go stark raving mad!

And what antidote?
Why the antidote is noise
With electric shocks
Little spurts of pure LOUD noise
But don’t overdo.

Look at today’s world
A world gone stark raving mad
A world in love with
NOISE! The worst cacophony
God grant us peace and quiet
