Have a Listen

HAVE A LISTEN

No one could stand it
A long quiet period
Yes! intense quiet
We who are so used to noise
We would go stark raving mad!

And what antidote?
Why the antidote is noise
With electric shocks
Little spurts of pure LOUD noise
But don’t overdo.

Look at today’s world
A world gone stark raving mad
A world in love with
NOISE! The worst cacophony
God grant us peace and quiet

You've such a busy mind, Daver...silence would surely drive you "stark raving mad!". I sort of like quiet, when any unusual sound might have me hop out of bed. A robin is chasing off a bluejay here...they're not crazy about the jay's loud noises. Blah blah blah...I'd better get my act together downstairs. Best wishes, Love, Mikki

:) I hear you my friend. All we can do is pray, and that we, ourselves, propagate beautiful symphonies with our life. Great write! Thanks for sharing. Be well! Caroline.

Incredible write, Daver. I don't mind the silence as I've grown used to it. But I dislike hearing so much noise in our world. In the song "Downtown," the singer said, "Listen to the music of the traffic in the city." Doesn't sound like music to me. As a violinist I bet "noise" becomes quite an irritant and many of today's pop songs do sound like "noise" instead of music. Great work here! Love, Carolyn

hahaha, Daver, you and me too. I hate how noisy the world has gotten and flooded with gadgets, all taking away from the way things used to be. (though some things I sure like better in today's world!) Keep your poems coming. Always a pleasure to read.
