Best Natureearth Poems
In the marsh the cattails sway,
Brave brown brushes standing tall.
Feet firmly planted in their muddy bed..
Giving shelter there to big and small.
Here the blackbird builds his nest,
A flash of red his sudden gift.
Amid the stalks the ducklings hide,
In tender down they gently drift.
Upon the bank the turtles bask,
From hibernation at last set free.
Like dinner plates of every size
Free to rest and grow.. and be
Here the otter plays among the reeds
Playful creatures, swift and sleek
Whiskers pointing east and west
Quiet shelter is what they seek.
On this earth a small habitat like this
Must be a sacred protected place.
For creatures that have no speaking voice..
We must stop the earth from loosing face.
Mother Earth awakens, in subtle pastel hues
Aspen leaves flutter and quake, shaking off the morning dew
Morning stirs, and Hummingbird wings whir and trill, just out of sight
Columbines dance on a pine scented breeze, solely to their delight
Mother Earth enjoys the day, basking in suns glow
or splashing in the rain showers and watching flowers grow
Whispered secrets on the wind, ancient wisdoms to impart
keeping silent vigil, she hears them stir within her heart.
Mother Earth lays down to sleep, bright colors paint the sky
evening shadows blanket her shoulders, as she closes her eyes
Pine trees shush their lullabies, and usher in the night
the taste of dew hangs in the air, as stars begin to light
Little brown orb
lying so lightly in my hand,
the marvel of you demanding my attention.
Could I but see deep into your heart,
I would find a perfectly formed flower
waiting there.
Waiting for me
to stir the rich brown earth and make a bed,
a room to hold you through the winter storms.
What life force induces you to grow
and not decay in your dark tomb?
Who guides you?
Lovingly
I cradle you and croon a lullaby.
Your fragile skin splits and bares your creamy flesh,
seemingly much too delicate to survive the
frosts and heaves to come.
I place you there.
Sleep little one.
In hibernation let the good earth nourish you.
Your internal clock, set by Nature,
will waken you to spring;
triumphantly breaking free,
a lovely tulip blossom.

I love the birds the trees I love the things
they say to me the sky's so pretty always
true always clear the color oh so blue
the water so clear the sound sparkles the
mullets and tropical fish swim deep in the
ocean every sea every lake has something to
say this is nature's way the sun kiss us
with it's energy to protect us and give us
our warm glow the moon dance in the distant's
around the stars to guide us through the
night the earth is always moving taking on
new forms as our animals get to know life
and try to survive what we have words cannot
describe then man walks the earth learning
growing teaching showing all this put
together as we bloom and stay in tune with
nature's way.

Form:
A bee came buzzing too soon, too soon
The season is not yet in its June
The sap must rise to the breast of the moon
And roots must lust for the earth in ruin
I am planting in September rain
When the ice winds come shall this remain
Shall sow my love to earth in vain
Shall the winter's cross bring me pain
The bee does not hesitate, in faith
It buzzes to find the flower, and wait
Enshrine in dazzling dance, in spate
With the autumn's fruitful date
O but the barren glade is bare, is bare
Except for concrete everywhere
Shall bowers green brim again here
And the bee brims with honey from my darling dear?
Seasons
The nights seem longer, testament,
To summer’s toil, her seeds are spent
The blue moon grants us one more chance,
To thank the earth for sustenance
And dreams of winter’s thoughtful peace,
Beside the fire’s warm release
Of memories gained and stacked like wood,
Beside the hearth where hearts have stood
‘till spring again, when waters free,
To bless the earth from sea to sea

(in honor of Earth Day)
My dirty hands
I hold the rich, crumbly dirt in my hands,
Savoring the warmth of sunlight in it,
Inhaling the aromas of power that
The dark earth holds.
With this power and a tiny seed
I can create wonders.
Where now the earth is idle, I can,
With nature’s help, sow seeds into this ground,
Watch as small green fledglings emerge
And stretch towards the life giving sunlight.
My gardener’s heart jumps with delight,
And with a feeling of gratitude
I watch over those emerald babies.
There is a lot of trust between
gardener and plant.
I trust they will grow, they trust
I will water them, watch over them.
One day soon, some will tower over me.
It is amazing!
In the shade provided by golden sunflowers
and soft yellow blooming okra stalks,
I kneel down to weed.
They soak up the sun, I appreciate
the shade they give.
Happily I work with my dirty hands.
Hello, how are you?
There's something urgent I need to say
Oh me? Well, I'm fine too
But I'm not the reason I've called you today.
It's our feral brothers,
They're crying, and are all around us dying
Even Mother Earth cries out!
Can't you hear her? That's her now crying
She cries out her warning shouts!
Our brothers suffer,
On your roads, and around your homes
And in your poisoned streams,
If you leave them no where else to roam
They'll soon vanish from the scene!
Mother Earth cries,
Oceans of tears through thawing ice
Soon, her crying will be done,
And the weather here won't be so nice
Once the new ice age has begun.
Save our brothers,
You are their keeper!
They're our earthling friends
And yet, you keep pushing them deeper
Into obscurity, and then right to their end!
Once they're gone,
Then we'll soon be next
It'll be our turn on the guillotine!
Stepping up to stretch out our necks!!
We'll be the next to vanish from the scene!!!
What was that?
Oh yes, I know it's hard
To manage all the things you do,
And, I probably should have dropped a card
I'm sorry, if I've bothered you.
Oh, the kids?
They're doing just fine,
I just wanted to bring that up to you
I figured it must have just slipped your mind
With the many things that you do.
Take care now,
And do try to be good,
And while doing those things you do
Keep our brothers like a good keeper should
And remember that they do live here too!
Timothy I. Brumley
The Earth spins around
Divided by it's deep faults
But mostly covered with ocean
Wafting the Earth with it's salts
Winds whip up and fly away
Spreading pollen in all seasons
Tornado alley is a given
Why live there, what are the reasons?
Fire in multitudes cleaning mountains
Lightning strikes the tallest Pine
I am witness to this fact
Almost burned me out, sublime
Water flows in every stream
And it falls freely from the sky
There seems to be a shortage
And why? I can't even surmise
It never changes what it does
But in the end, it's all for us
In God's fertile earth the American farmer casts the seeds,
To grow the grain to meet the hungry world's needs.
From the good earth springs forth a bountiful cornucopia,
Of good things to feed the starving in places such as Ethiopia!
Oft I have pondered who discovered the essential element of fire.
Was it a cave person who witnessed the lightning setting a tree afire?
"Warm" thanks to the feller who burned his fingers to keep an ember alive!
Sans fire to warm our feet and broil our steaks, how would we survive?
We know not from whence cometh the wind nor whence it goeth!
But how we relish the soothing sound of a zephyr as 'mongst the trees it floweth!
In ages past, billowing winds drove sailing ships across the raging seas.
Today, wind power is so useful as other energy sources it doth ease!
Water, water everywhere but is it pure and safe to drink?
Mankind must save it from pollution, you would really think!
From the operation of the mighty Hoover Dam to a single glass of water,
'Tis necessary for our survival and we must conserve it - we really oughter!
We've squandered our precious rescources over the course of time.
Perhaps 'tis time to rethink the matter or our lives won't be worth a dime!

Warning of a Worm
I am from this earth speaking with tears
To protect me and to protect this earth
We are in trillions in number serving you
as a preserver and protector of your soil
You are ruining your earth by chemicals and acids
in the name of modern cultivation
You are poisoning the earth and it’s nature
to get more yields with in a short span
We are ploughing and softening the earth
Your chemicals ,manures
Swallow our trillions as billion and millions
In a one dark day
We will be no more and you will be too
Your food and water has already changed and
already Your path has changed against to nature
From the hard and dry land
You can cultivate currencies and coins and
You can consume tablets and capsules as food
You will import oxygen and water
It is not my curse my man!
Just my premonition and a precautionary call to all of You
Imagine yourself as a raindrop
Sharing space in a cloud
Will I be part of a morning shower
Or the member of an angry crowd
Will I fall to earth on a gentle breeze
Or ride the currents of a storm
Will I be cool or refreshing
or steamy muggy and warm
Will I bounce upon some rooftop
Or touch the leaf of a tree
Rising along a storm surged tide
Seeking some way to be free
Will I kiss the petals of a daisy
And glisten in the sun
Or fall into a lazy pond
That has no where to run
Will I gently touch the soft brown earth
Searching to find my roots
Attach myself to a passerby
Who is wearing rubber boots
Will I find myself in a glass
as part of a lemonade
Or settled in a sheltered ditch
As a puddle in the shade
A raindrop's life is ongoing
Like the angels tears Caressing the earth
Rising once again into the sky
Clouds symbolize rebirth
Just imagine it for a moment
And think of the rainbow in flight
A raindrop divided into colors
Bathed in heavenly light
The earth says goodnight as the sun lowers for a kiss,
While the moon edges upward, overlooking in the sky
The mountain tops reach with snowy crescent, white
As the valleys welcome shade, a blanket to the eye.
~~~~
The earth is enshrouded in darkness, but also with light
As the luminescent radiance of the moon sets the scene
I, walking the valley, with my lover’s hand in mine
Smile in her presence, with a love, never fleeing.
~~~~
With a look…a shadow…the moon casts upon her face
She never looked lovelier…than she does at this time
As if God, himself, lit the candles, upon our tables
Leaving us to dance…to enjoy our love…sublime.
~~~~
He even plays the music, by which our hearts beat along
The musician that He is, selecting beautiful nature, to play.
My lover and I enjoying the evening set for just us two
While God sets this scene, before night turns to day.
A Rondeau - inspired by Richard Wilbur
No longer shall the earth remain
with wintry rainsqualls, spattered snow,
for we shall with the crocus go,
the sun shall sing its sweet refrain.
The birds and beasts cannot be wrong
to trill and squeal, so high, so low,
no longer shall the earth remain
with wintry rainsqualls, spattered snow.
Nor shall the beavered dams detain
the streaming rivers' allegretto,
they shall flow where they must flow.
Beasts and birds the sunrise shall sustain,
no longer shall the earth remain in darkness.
