Premium Member Punctuation Crisis

Un-nerved by formal sentencing assemblies,
Marks and Words, bound by conjunctive amenity.
The tried beliefs that short cuts speed words into action.
Made stuffy Old School feel out of fashion.
Punctuation board-slams her silver gavel;
“A shortened distance, yet far to travel.”
Marks are pushed into line to enter their plea.

Dash Dash Dash has trailing thoughts…
Comment remarks that it thinks too much.
Question Mark, curiously rotund and stout,
asks “What’s this meeting all about?”.
Proud Period, acquainted with the strident rituals of formality,
Quickly departs, leaving a daunting spot of terse finality.
Comma’s game of pause and snag,
grammatically adheres to one of tag.
Overwrought Exclamation Mark, nervously blurts:
“Unruly disorder can make matters worse!”.
Semi colon maintaining proper pauses,
Stays anchored between compelling clauses.
Colon fearful of growling barks,
snuggles closer to Quotation Marks.
Apostrophe’s like for word possession,
worries over changing word obsession

Oh, Oh! Oh? Oh…
These are shameful attempts to monopolize,
Even with trite words, of unassuming size.
.
Punctuation thinks her identity’s impaired
Might she be confused with the shrew, Grammar?
She calls to order a capitol thought.
sliding up to Exclamation Mark, shouts “’STOP!’
The object of this meeting,
Is not subject to self- beating.
No presence is here to criticize, or chastises,
nor harmonize.
If getting through is what stays true.
Will be understood by some , but always to you.”.

Premium Member Essence

My feelings are mosaic,
scattered and multi-colored.
There is no set pattern in the artwork
and no meaning in each separate pane.
Only the whole surface memorable.
Each shard of broken mirror
reflects a parse of the whole.
When pieced together the total vision,
though tattered, comes into clearer focus.
Reflection, a study of the conscious.
Moments of time tell no tale.
Vignettes of a larger tome
monopolize space that holds no fullness,
no revelations of intensity,
dramatism, lyricism, poeticism.
I demand everywhereness,
unbound illimitedness.
Totality of my essentialism
wherein I exist in absoluteness.
my assemblage as a full complement.
Quanta on quanta. Wholeness.
Unequivocally me.

Premium Member One Up You Beth

You think they are snooty to you, she said. Here is a story for you.
She is my friend, but I call her One-Up-You-Beth in my head.
Because no matter what story you have
She will one-up it.

I had worked at a place for fourteen years, she told me.
Fourteen years!
She always says things twice.
Not sure why.

I saw they have a regular time to meet for coffee.
So I went.
I wonder where she saw it, but don’t interrupt.
For it I do, it will be a longer story.

I found it on Facebook, she adds.
Apparently reading my mind.
Fourteen F……ing years I worked with these people!” she says.
Adding this word early makes me a bit more curious.

I get there and I put my stuff down and the lady next to me says
“You can’t sit there. That place is taken.”
I say “NO she didn’t!”
“Don’t interrupt,” one-up Beth says.

So I move to a different place, all right?
I am wisely silent.
So at this second place I put my stuff and a lady says “That seat is taken.”
I begin to giggle.

“I am SERIOUS!” she says. “Deadly serious!”
So I move to third place and guess what?”
“No way!” I say.
But, yes, according to one-up Beth a third woman says
"That seat is taken!"

“So you left,” I guess.
“Of course I did!” she says.
“I would have too.”
I do not mention her tendency to monopolize conversations and one-up people.

Premium Member Will I ever outgrow this?

What is this ridiculous obsession ~
perhaps a case of simple vanity?

There's so much more to life
than warped arrogant narcicism.

I'm obviously more than
these pesky extra pounds
around my waist and
few deep wrinkles on my face
yet still it manages to monopolize
my moods and daily thoughts.

I seem to spend my time
reminding mirror and self,
much like repeating a mantra,
that I am the sum total of my years.

Meanwhile I'll wait patiently for this brain
to start embracing the golden age of wisdom.

Wine and Cheese

Offended is an expensive Vintage
blended
lacking precision
I recommend a less sulfuric fermentation

-----------Varietals-------------

grapes of wrath
so much to offer
each glass
examine
swirl
smell
breathe and savor
see legs of the vine
tannins to taste

or we can
over drink
over think
get wasted and offended
tick clocks fast
amidst boiling stew
issues skewed by our own jaded views

we can be peaceful
yet perceived to push hate

our temple may become damaged
via friendly fire

and as for poets...
we may be the single most egotistical, emotional, tremendously divine
individuals of all time and we know it!

we laugh when skies cry, seek solitude as joyful crowds arrive
we write and write 'till pens run dry of ink

we, the Swiss cheese...

we pretend to be bulletproof, whilst writhing inside
we juxtapose
we justify
we jigsaw puzzle brothers and muzzle others
we control situations then
recite white lies to
monopolize conversation
all the while remaining dedicated to being offended
with loose change and pretentious

and boy we've figured out the whole Multi-Verse because
"My Deity can beat up your Deity!
yet, let me not be the last fool to promise you,
we are so miniscule, the god's will be too busy swinging sticks on the golf links
to visit you before the toil of your sore drama is through

we must pave our way, keeping heads clear and high
stamping urgency upon trusting self

Mister Bob Marley sang it best with: "EVERYTHINGS GONNA BE ALRIGHT!"

shhh...LISTEN

upon this short enlightening journey
exists a plethora of big aspirations
we'll fail to grasp if our hopes swirl in the vortex of black clouds
sidetracked
offended at misunderstandings and minute words
burning midnight oil on the spoil.

Premium Member Table Hogs

They invade the cafe at first light
Then with latte and laptop held tight
    They seize tables for four
    To let go nevermore
So all others drink coffee upright

With a bored intellectual stare
That one hankers to be Molière
    If he's writing a play
    For a hit on Broadway
Then its plot must involve Solitaire

One's quite the scientific young chap
For which typing is no handicap
   He must write his thesis
   By psychokinesis
Cause the keyboard gets hardly a tap

That one with the big apple fritter
Is researching a mental transmitter
    He's receiving the thoughts
    Of strange cosmonauts
Transferred through Facebook and Twitter

Perhaps you will think I'm pretentious
And more than a little contentious
     But it's just a disgrace
     To monopolize space
And I think that's the general consensus

Professionalism

This is professionalism!
Something on the brink,
You could say,
Of existentialism.
It's nonnegotiable,
This business of price
And dice
And "rightful" wives,
No. It's immovable.
The roulette spins,
The Russians drink,
And a bullet escapes
An unfortunate skull—
The brains of a brainiac—
The brainiac,
Always the maniac,
The one without
Any brain whatsoever.
And we sing forever
About rosies and rings
And things called posies,
Falling and fallen bodies—
This is professionalism!
It holds no friends,
Nor boundaries or
Walls or streets.
Stock goes not
Negatively toward
Professionalism because
Professionalism is
Undeniable and untraceable!
The road less traveled
Is the entrepreneur's road,
A road of love and sex
And microagressions
Being spit from the mouths
of the travelers,
Because he's an adventurer,
A trooper, a keeper,
But his own man.
He'll take a hand,
An arm, a couple legs,
Two new eyes, a head,
And take a new man,
Because that's professionalism—
Political magnetism:
The East collides with
The West to monopolize
Dares and obsessions
While North perpetually
wonders why it always
Finds its way South.
What is class but a
Hierarchy of officials?
Professionalism holds
No such thing.

Premium Member This Single Kiss

with one arm i draw you near, entwine
and on your lips tenderly i place mine
i hold you tight
i kiss you light

i tie you in prepare you for the ride
i kiss you deep  and slowly glide inside
swallow your doubts
engage our mouths
use our tongues, a clean slate
i kiss you all, like a life long mate

we circle over and over the hemisphere. visit the ancient gardens of babylon
here. refresh our bodies under a canadian waterfall. view the coral reefs in the
pink waters of belize submerged and all.

we monopolize the star covered night. spread our towels out of sight. sink into
the  mink sifted warmth each of  a white sand beach.

still our lips glued
our  passions ruled
happily lost and unthinking
content to let the bell ring
dwell together in this abyss
 relish this  ongoing kiss.

still two stranger's grips
willing to share naked lips
though we know when we leave this terrain
that will be it never to see each other again

with nothing to object
convinced this kiss perfect.

Byju Road

Byju Road lies there

               cinnamon and cardamom
               in jars sigh intermittently
               of the forthcoming marriages
under the eaves of pawned property

               Barbie sits among the
               plastic flowers,covering
               the dust of indifference
               her eyes search the glow
on the edge of a child's last wish

               sliced vegetables and chopped meat
smeared in oil whimper on pans
               a maid peels onion
and her eyes well up with tears
a dagger glints over her skies

               fishmongers dry their saliva
               shouting and bargaining,then
               sell themselves;unveiled eyes of fish
               stare at their futile fate

               twilight curls up
               staggering feet and swaying heads
               monopolize the road; the stink
of vodka envelops the whole trial

Byju Road lies there, devoid of heart

Icons of Dark

Very common in human history
In name of faith- same
Some
-Monopolize hearts and minds of crowd -
Hijack the role of religion as the code of god
To gain the power and cast
The death and misery
Upon divided man
Icons of dark smoky
And insane
In theirs- faith
Bloody ritual thirsty
Fangs- their
Sectarian holds us in diffuse hate

Smiley

Curve on the lips pointing towards the left,
purpose in concealing smile by theft,
fear concluding the tilt dutifully kept,
sheen so sacred for the humanly unkempt,
lie defeating truth and questions attempt,
to bury secrets and the joy when you wept,
need to monopolize the time which left,
madness and intensity thoughts forget,
dependency nurtured and eyes never slept,
fate divine and destiny inept,
an act occupied for the search to wait,
lie pities truth and puts on bait,
mysteries and lies famished minds ate,
faith and ego loneliness bates,
preference of truth gifted mind hates,
appetite for imagination creates,
remoteness from object who deject,
unrequited expression to the faces reject,
fables of a drunkard enthused by intellect,
memories alive must you forget,
innocent cries must they neglect,
euphoria weaved in mystery,
occurrence of mastery subliminally,
a beam frowning continually,
answers buried faithfully,
bluffs me entirely,
uncanny riley of a smiley.

Like Cat Who Is Feral

My Complete Surprise

What was to my complete surprise
Could not think clearly or memorize
Any words he meant to have said
This guy many of us do dread
Out in provocation drew many cries.

Who will be in the White House
And is it really the right house
Is there will wonder why
To die only does a good guy
Moron creeped in like a mouse.

Determined there was a big dispute
Who for President we had to recruit
What we must really do is fight back
And of Hillary never to loose track
My dear boy Trump is quite a beaut.

Would you rather be over a barrel
Or should we sing a Christmas carol
My county supposed to be
Has it given up on me
And is Trump cat who is feral.

Congress as usual won't do jack
Except maybe make a wise crack
What about a loose cannon being
Up from problems will not be freeing
America please give me some slack.

I really do not need the title
To do things for Nation that are vital
As life's end is now nearing
Before it does do some volunteering
Which will further our survival.

Here is another word to the wise
Don't give up, in or compromise
Monopolize is not way to go
When economy starts running slow
Result I'm sure you it will surprise

Thomas Paine -An Englishman

Thomas Paine - an
Englishman

Maybe the best
American

Long and well before
all the fat folks
who live there now

Spoke of national
institutions
of churches whether
jewish christian or
muslim or other
nonsense

Schemes seeming to
him be no more than
human inventions,
set up to terrify
and enslave mankind
to monopolize for
power

Paternal Misgivings Linger

Though thine two grown
     former babes in crib age,
now lead checkered lives,
     no longer monopolize my time

as though their persons went backstage
either one embracing, judging,
     and negotiating positive
     chutes and ladders with courage

evoking glee this papa
     helped both beautiful lasses
     avoid being risk averse
     navigating life with minimal damage

though to get ahead of the class,
     (asper the eldest Eden Liat)
credit karma fairly and squarely attributed
     to herself with encourage

meant from this papa, who oft time
     felt he lacked any clue
akin to a hobbled battleship left
     to drift at sea, whence,

     upon landfall sub
     sequent lee forced to forage
in a foreign dominion (akin to being
     among Settlers of Catan),

plus devoid of instruments to gauge,
     an optimal strategic operation,
thus figuratively groping in the dark
     (unaware of a brewing twister)

     guided by blind faith
doth admit saying sorry,
     but apologetic homage
     would disqualify thyself,

     a "FAKE" mastermind
     undeserving of just desserts,
unfairly via diktat plucking sweet treats
     awash within Candy Land,

     a deceptive image
entrancing, luring and, spellbinding
     ultimately incurring trouble,
particularly when Shana Aubrey

     (younger by about
     twenty six months)
garnered lion's share of parental attention
     necessitated mandatory intervention

      due to language
skills, plus pronounced
     developmental delay,
     where supreme social service

     sages gentle massage
wrought divine prestidigitation
     as one after another
     case worker did overencourage

to counteract congenital
     cognitive setback (coalesced in utero),
now finds das dada envious
    (cuz, aye got mired, hogtied,

     and bogged down with
    obsessive compulsive trivial pursuit,
hence warrant so lucky as thee Punim)

     steers ship shape body electric
     round her uncharted cerebral
     cape of good hope passage.
