Best Money To Burn Poems
"When it comes to money, you can't win. If you focus on making it, you're materialistic. If you try to but don't make any, you're a loser. If you make a lot and keep it, you're a miser. If you make it and spend it, you're a spendthrift. If you don't care about making it, you're unambitious. If you make a lot and still have it when you die, you're a fool-for trying to take it with you. The only way to really win with money is to hold it loosely-and be generous with it to accomplish things of value." - John C. Maxwell

Listen to the lessons
Who remind me that I spend,
More than I can earn,
More than I can learn…
Is too much, too much, too much.
Listen to my conscious,
When I reach for the cart,
Shopping – my obsession,
When will it finally stop?
When will I park that cart?
Listen to the lessons
Who remind me that I’m broke,
Spent more than I am making,
Spent more than I can earn,
Spent more – don’t have money to burn!
Listen to my conscious,
When the cash is burning holes…
Deep inside my pocket,
Where they yearn to finally know
How it feels to go into a jar,
Saved from the shopping sprees!
Saved from their enemy, ME!
Listen to those bills, tempting me…
To pay with cash, pay with my debit,
Pay with credit – pay with anything…
That allows me to spend, spend, spend,
Spendthrift I am – spendthrift is who I hope…
To quit being, throughout the coming year!
My new year’s resolution, then…
Is to write X spendthrift,
When I take up my pen, to sign by the x,
Where I’m signing my earnings away,
For the next purchase that I’ve made –
As a NEW X-spendthrift, I hope that I can say…
Together with my money, I will finally stay,
Able to look at the future with savings that I pray…
Will keep me from poverty as I go on my way,
Keep me from the spending that took me astray!
Elsie the cow was slower than molasses,
that's why they finally decided to put her out to pasture.
With Stormin' Norman around you'd tremble with fear,
because all around him was lightning and thunder in the atmosphere.
I try not to get into too much of a habit, of trying to figure out
what nuns wear at the abbot.
It doesn't matter to me if I get burned, especially since I'm ashes in an urn.
Debby couldn't figure out why people's smiles would suddenly flounder,
till one day her new nickname was Ms. Debby Downer.
My dog is generally nice; his bark being much worse than his bite.
After cleaning up the elephant poop, I finally admitted that my life was a zoo.
Two's company and three's a crowd, but not after a polygamists vows.
My stomach would almost always get into a knot, till I stopped being a contortionist.
One hand always washes the other, especially if you always bathe with your lover.
I almost always kill two birds with one stone, that is why they don't fly in pairs by my home.
A penny saved is a penny earned, that's why I always have Dollar Tree money to burn.
The early bird always catches the worm, I know because when I do I've seen them squirm.
Money doesn't grow on trees, if it did then there would be no more leaves.
I try not to wear my heart on my sleeve, especially if there's no tissues around and I have to sneeze.
Well I guess its that time once again to hit the hay as I keep reminding the bales not to misbehave.
I try not to cry over spilt almond milk, especially if its an off brand and not the expensive Silk.
I want to remodel my kitchen I think, everything that is but the kitchen sink.
They alway's claim that Elvis has left the building, then why do I always still see impersonators making a living.
I walk around with a big chip on my shoulder, which is great because I sometimes forget to eat now that I'm older.
And finally, I hope one day when I kick the bucket, that it'll travel far enough to go into the Guiness World Book of Records.
At the drop of a hat, your life could change
If you win the big jackpot of ten million
You'd have all the things you've ever wished for
And every day would be bright vermillion
With money to burn the world would be yours
You'd have nothing to hold you back
You could live like a king, demand anything
There'd be absolutely nothing you'd lack
Do you think you'd be the same sweet person
Or would money change who you are
Wouldn't mind finding out to tell the truth
Think I'd find the whole thing quite bizarre
Like to think I'd remain the same person
With both feet firmly planted on the ground
But money can change a person's perspective
And your whole life can turn upside down
Sure like to know how money would affect me
Would I become this financial tycoon
It really could swing either way I imagine
Could wind up just a filthy rich baboon

No Reason to Stay
I had so much love for you
But you simply walked away
I was like a bug beneath your shoes
My love for you no reason to stay
You had lots of money to burn
And women falling at your feet
You were the toast of high society
Your life, your lovers, oh so sweet
I finally went on with my life
Got married and settled down
I had three lovely children
Products of the love I found
I buried my husband a year ago
All I wanted was to have him with me
He loved me the way I had loved you
His love for me a wonderful sight to see
It was just last week I saw you
It had been so many years
I still thank God every day now
Because your leaving caused only tears
The money you had to burn
Was no longer yours anymore
And those women at your feet
Are scattered to the wind times four
Your eyes were all puffy and old
You had lost that polished glow
Of the rich and well groomed man
And the smart high step now was slow.
I turned away from you
And simply walked away
You weren’t like a bug beneath my shoes
But there was no reason for me to stay
It is so I'm not rich with no money to burn
It is true I have no assets or profits to turn
It is only all of me I have to offer and give
It is with this though you could not live
It is then I was told that it is not enough
It is what made wanting to go on pretty tough
It is in those words causing such hauntings untold
It is not enough shattered my heart and crushed my soul
It is not enough to hear what you had to say
It is even worse letting you go as you walk away
It is still in the shattered pieces of my heart you know
It is there my love for you that will truly never let go

Howdy, Leroy, how’s you and you’rn?
I ain’t seed you since th' baby was born.
Livin’ way up hear in th’ mountain,
Of th’ days I sorta lose accountin’.
Well, Jim, as fur as I kin tell
We’se doing tolerable well.
Lulu’s marriage has at last been laid.
Wuz getting’ afeared she be an old maid.
Kinda bad fer her to be publicly seen.
When she’s wuz single at fourteen.
And Bubba’s got as big as a bear.
He’s ugly enough to throw a scare.
What kind of job did Bubba ever get?
He wuz always too lazy t’ break a sweat.
Fer him, schoolin’ wus a mite too tough.
Th’ schoolmarm made it mighty rough.
Bubba ain’t been around for many a day.
Because off to a college he went away.
Jim looked at Leroy with suspicious doubt.
Since he had to wonder what that was about.
Nothin’ like thet I’ve ever seed.
Why old Bubba, he can’t even read.
Hit must be you has money to burn.
How, in college, can Bubba learn?
Leroy realized that he hadn’t made it plain
How at a college big Bubba could remain.
You has plumb th’ wrong idea there, Jim.
Bubba ain’t studyin’. They’se studyin’ him.
Obsessed with other’s wallets,
how much they have or earn,
how they manage to live as they do
or how they have money to burn.
How they can ‘afford’ to do this and that,
‘A new car I see on the drive’,
‘Yet another holiday’
and ‘More gadgets to arrive!’
‘They have more coming in than we do’
or else ‘They’re all in debt!’
Who cares what others have
or how much they seem to get.
Stop fretting about the neighbors,
how it compares to what you do.
I sense a little envy
that they have more than you!
They may be living in luxury
but be feeling rather sad,
they may have every gadget
but home life may be bad.
Why compare with other people
or envy them their ‘things’?
You can’t see what it cost them
or the heartache that it brings.
So work at being happy,
focus on family too,
keep your outlook sunny
and others will envy you!
How many lifetimes do we get to enjoy
When we're done, are we done or come back for more joy
Hope I'm rich on return
With money to burn
Or perhaps come back as some rich woman's toy
There is a rocket firing off today
Sending a business adventure trip far away
With the thunder below
Up it will go
Looking to put technology in the sky
In a late afternoon scripted signature that everyone on the beach will wave bye bye
Falcon number nine is spending the dime
To climb climb climb
Calling the plays from the huddle
Very near to the pad for the shuttle
Internet interaction will be shared
In this mechanical bon voyage that has flair
Traveling to many orbits out there
Sixty broadband satellites will be dispersed
Into the vast universe
After the fact that been confirmed
Space X had money to burn
Linking the stars from above
With Intergalactic communication that fits like a glove
T Minus the launch will be here
Giving us new apps to play with next year
"Headline news! The rag trade is torn to pieces!
Dolls are strewn across the streets with skirts lifted high.
Headline news! Markets are buzzing with voracious bees;
Stinging for honey, for money to burn. Sly.
May I escort you sir to higher gains? Just feed the slot
Machine coffers with offers of fine dining and lustful desires.
Become bloated and coated, botched and scotched
And drink embers mellow as you repast by the fire!
Suits you sir! That suit should fake them and shake them,
For you look a right toff and in those two tone brogues
None can guess and think anything less of you and your suit
That is pin striped and blue. Welcome to 'Cafe Rogues'.
Are you a gambler sir? Do you place your bets well?
Do you prefer evens or odds or don't you give a sod?
There are no consciences here sir! We'll take your money
And spend it on honey and fine clothes by God!
Paper!paper! Read all about it, headline news!
Dolls are found in alleyways torn to shreds!
Escorts are fattened calves ready for the slaughter!
Suited toff is found dying in Savile Row gutter!
Gambling money spinner wins. Camera closes the shutter.
Quid pro quo Penny ante It is only a penny for your thoughts Unless you do not know? Happiness can’t be bought With no money to burn and a penny saved is a penny earned Why do you put in your two cents worth?
Fun and laughter, feelings of a master,
smiling faces,going places
money to burn,things to learn,
lovely flat,lovely home,
safe inside a comfort zone.
Good clothes,good bones,good mobile phones,
feeling sweet ,life complete,
life getting faster, no thaughts of disaster,
a need to get higher, feeling on fire,
multi coloured lights,no signs of fights,
cannabis today,cocaine tommorow,
who knows after that which buzz will follow.
Introduction to new people,
life it seems it seems so simple,
working all week so my weekends are free,
concoction of drugs and a 48 hour party,
all drugs are on tick ill pay next week,
loving being on that ultimate peak.
Begin the chasing with frustration,
that ultimate high money can buy,
monday mornings allways daunting,
chewing the fat becoming slack,
struggle through with no point of view,
loss of my job i begin to screw,
now works missing my life starts slipping.
Jeckel and hyde,loss of pride,
hot and cold sweats,acumalating debts,
on a roll, spiral out of control,
all the things i never wanted to see,
leave behind my family,
blamed,ashamed,untamed,
unclean,unkept,unslept.
Start selling things like girlfriends rings,
never caring,never sharing,
waking up with beasts, girls with no teeth,
sweat pouring when i should be snoring,
on the street,blisters on feet,
all alone and insecure,
is this really what ive paid for?
Sleeping around on strangers floors,
glad just to be behind the safety of a door,
life damaged,life unmanaged,
yet still id use getting more confused,
damage done,no more fun,
a trail of destruction,allways ruckin.
Shadow running,paranoia bugging,
the need for highs, blinding my eyes,
scared and alone,sold mobile phone,
alcohol in bags,clothes in rags,
a life of crime now serving time,
hit rock bottom,no sign of stopping..........
Twists And Turns
Sometimes we
Get let down
With all the twist
And turns in life
To keep your head
Above water
You are ready and
Determine to fight
You find the cost
To feed your family
Is more than you can bear
And the worries shows on
Top of your head
With black and grey hair
You try to keep up with
The browns afraid of
Being left behind
You can’t afford that
Big white house
You don’t even
Have a dime
Your wife is on
Your back and
Your baby needs
A pair of shoes
You find yourself in
So much trouble and
Now you got the blues
Your job doesn't
Pay enough money
So now you are talking
About leaving
When you think you
Got it under control
This week you
Didn't break even
Now your kids are sick
From playing out in the cold
Little Johnny has a fever
With a red and runny nose
You feel bad inside because
Others have money to burn
Hospital garnish your check
Because you had no insurance
You bow your head
With a honest heart
Fighting tears as you pray
Sleepless nights, teary eyes
Believing there must be a way
Because life takes away
Whatever you earn
With all its twist and turns
Now you wonder
How some can make it
And other can hardly stand
Half supporting your family
Makes you feel less of a man
You can’t stand the pressure
So you want to go back home
There are times in the day when
You prefer to be left alone
So you figured out that life
Waits patiently for no one
A lesson that is well learned
And life doesn't play fair
With all its twists and turns
She was once as strong as an ox
Now she lays in a wooden box
When she was fit and a young girl at that
The boys used to tease her
But she was still the one they’d wink at
She was pretty and knew her own mind
She was smart, just one of a kind
She married at seventeen
Not a man that she loved
Just, one she approved of
Chosen by her father
With the hope they may fall in love
She worked hard in the fields
Bringing food to the table
Every day digging and sowing
What she was able
They made a life together and she bore
Five sons and 2 daughters
He was away working there after
And though she worked her fingers to the bone
The house was always full of laughter
Her children were her life she kept them clean and well fed
And made them do chores to learn the value of bread
As the years passed her by her looks faded and tired
And her body grew weary and sad
when her husband expired
She never travelled or had money to burn
But her life was fulfilled and I never heard her yearn
For the easy life that I have
Now she lays there contented knowing in the life that she had
She did her best by her family through good and through bad.
