Best Lurk Poems
Monsters lurk within the depths of my soul,
while fueling my primitive urges.
And lacking substance, they are but shadows,
thus invisible; and invincible.
They dwell somewhere between sane and insane,
on the far fringes of reality.
And breaching my defenses, they break free,
causing turmoil and havoc in my life.
Fear's their accomplice: an effective shield,
ensuring their movements are well concealed.
And pushing where there's the least resistance,
they distort who I am and how I feel.
They work to taint my soul with hate and greed:
gnawing away at the concept of fair.
And connive, to twist the truth out of shape,
till whatever feels good: starts to feel right.
But when I detect them, they flee inside,
where they are temporarily restrained.
Since I can not free my inner demons,
I must insist that they stay locked away.
Where the river runs into the Chesapeake Bay.
The currents run strong and they say "Beware".
Many a man has ignored it and sunk to his doom.
On white capped waters beneath a crystal blue sky
where a thousand men live by the tide,
one boy drifts and awaits the return of the moon.
In a tiny row boat with a four horse Merc.
He braves the bay to where the Rockfish lurk.
Gonna catch him a big one and prove to his Dad he's a man.
When the waters went still and the wind began.
He was too young to know the mess he was in.
He never turned back when the bay started yelling it's name.
The boat pitched forward and rocked to the back.
Waves so high that the sky went black
but the boy stayed steady and never showed any fear.
A white Bucktail on ten pound test,
he dropped the line off the side and grabbed a life vest.
He held on tight to his rod as the storm drew near.
Thunder clapped and the sky lit up.
The boy got excited when his rod gave a tug.
He never noticed the water that was filling his boat.
He started reeling with all of his might
when the angry old bay joined in on the fight.
Against a boy no longer, a fight against a full grown man.
When the storm passed by and the sky turned blue.
A boat on the beach with a small red shoe
and the biggest Rockfish ever landed in the Chesapeake Bay.
In a tiny row boat with a four horse Merc.
A boy braved the bay to where the Rockfish lurk
and lived to tell his story over and over again.

When you fail to entertain ask someone for voluntary work.
to learn about boring, to apply a healthy jerk,
Don't hurt anybody, build climax, wisely and warmly,
Patience can promote you when you have an initiative lurk,
Believe me, you shall seek an appointment for ceremonial Kirk.

My human heart fails me.
My soul is burdened with crisis.
And strong is it’s depravity,
Vengeance is longed with savagery.
They say it’s worse than this,
My human heart fails me.
The sorrow and pain exceeds thee,
And hopefulness isn't hard to miss.
And strong is it’s depravity!
Fear holds me in captivity!
My heart wants their blood to fall from a tree!
My human heart fails me.
How could I think so carelessly?
My heart says lies are bliss,
And strong is it’s depravity.
Doesn’t it know, truth is morality?
It’s feelings are valid, it insists.
My human heart fails me,
And strong is it’s depravity.
blurry vision
and impaired judgement
we are in your car
the music is blasting
some rap song
lyrics of drugs and money and large asses
you're bobbing your head to the booming bass
and you wink at me
slyly
through red, glazed eyes
joint in hand
you take a puff and pass it to me
i inhale and gaze out the foggy window
it's nighttime in the bronx
blackness surrounding with specks of illumination from gas stations and apartment buildings and delis
your hand grabs ahold of my thigh
and your whisper hits my ear
breath stained with alcohol
"you're my favorite you know, don't tell the other girls"
and i close my eyes as your hand rises up
and up
i don't know what i'm feeling
or if i like it here
i don't know if i should like it here
i take another puff
fire hitting the back off my throat
his hand slides down my pants
i think I might like it
right
here
In dankest corners danger lurks,
unseen to human eye
hide creatures from the realms of hell
where none can ever die.
For demons of the lowest plain
cannot a body wear
for they’re destined to feed the pit
with those lost to despair.
These demons lurking all around
seek food for torment’s fire,
there’s no escaping if they smell
a soul they can acquire.
They drain the essence of your life
if you approach their lair,
the only warning you may get
is prickling of your hair.
By then I fear it is too late
incarcerating souls
they drag them screaming through the gates
that lead to Satan’s holes.
So tread in fear when pathways feel
uneasy, not quite right,
for all is lost when being stalked
by shadows of the night.

Demons lurk
Flying high into the air
Spreading their wings
They follow demonic code
To frighten all who walk alone
They try to posses
The lost and unwary
Taking them alive
They create evil
Within the stray pumpkins
That just lay about
Making them frightening
Forming dark Jack-O-Lanterns
Demons will ruin
Through the eyes of a pumpkin
Any person’s evening

Where Shadows Lurk
In the depth of night I wander,
Through the corridors of fear,
Where shadows lurk and ponder,
On the mysteries of the yesteryear.
From the shattered, broken windows,
Gleams a beam of spectral light,
Like a blade, sharp and pointed,
Piercing the heart of the silent night.
On the walls, I see the remnants,
Of the art, ancient and rare,
Where the light reveals the countenance,
Of those who are no longer there.
They gaze, they grin,
With a look of disdain and sorrow,
They mock, they beguile,
With a voice from the hollow.
They speak of a grief,
That no mortal can bear,
They whisper of a future,
Devoid of any hope or care.
They narrate to me a tale,
Beyond all logic and verse,
They reveal to me a splendor,
That no eye can traverse in this universe.
They entice me with their falsehoods,
To the rooms where darkness resides,
Where the light is a fading spark,
And the shadows are my guides.
Minds stratified in complexity
The layers different in all living
The psyche forms unique entity
On alien parasites it won’t cling.
In deep layers many secrets hide
Search of sub-conscious can’t find
Probing calls from world outside
Echo, can’t enter the closed mind.
A lone prisoner of own making
A cocoon in introvert isolation
I see all the ugly faces receding
Me stuck in web of self-adulation.
My clouded mind turns Nemesis
Makes a mirror of mirage for me
I look into it reaching the oasis
It is only me that I always see.
In self-adoration, a mad perception
I see a Narcissus in me lonely lurk
A secret morphing into obsession
Lies buried, insulated in the dark.

memories lurk beneath the pale,
behind the brow of sorrow,
too many hurts, the thoughts impale,
of lives in tempest and death grow stale,
lest, remembered, some tomorrow....
well known beyond the veil,
which no one else can borrow,
some try to no avail,
tomorrow yet tomorrow.....

Words Lurk
Believe not,
That you cannot.
Believe a word
Lurks round each corner of your lighted soul.
That a poet lives
Within your heart, apart from any cold distraction.
And with loving action,
share your being, leaving your print upon the world.
My life; my destiny
With life one fulfills rebirth
Rife money; more agony...
Waiting yet couldn't unearth
grifters and grafters,
hang like bats in the rafters,
feasting on the moths—
they charm while skimming their schemes,
build loophole ladders of graft
