Lo and BEHOLD. I AM THE universe, parent to the GALAXIES. I am that BITTER UNFAMILIAR taste in your mouth. I am the LIGHT THAT BREAKS the DARKNESS. I am the coming of a new HORIZON. I AM THE KINDLED FIRE BLAZING BRIGHT. I AM THE TRIUMPH THAT REST WITH THE BLESSED. I AM EVERY WORD IN THE HOLY BOOKS.

THOUGH YOU think it's UNTRUE I am the mountains MAJESTY. I am THE JOY OF EVERY CHILD. I AM the rows of CROP AT the PEAK of HARVEST. I am the SOULS of the DEAD WANDERING to and fro. I AM THE SPIRITS IN the corners of the WORLD.
I AM THE UNABASHED FEARLESS LITTLE GIRL.

I AM THE BRAVERY IN ALL. I AM THE BLOOD that SPEWS carelessly. Though you may not BELIEVE, I AM THE WRATH OF THE GODS BEFORE THE HUMANS FALL. I AM THE SLAVE AT THEIR BECKONED CALL. I AM THAT MINUET CREATURE BURROWING WITHIN THE EARTH. I AM THE DESTINY OF ALL.
I AM THE SLUMBERING, THE STILL, THE SILENT COLD, HARSH WINDS BLOW, THE ANGRY AND THE UNRELENTING DOCTOR GONE MAD.
I AM THE MINORITY within the MAJORITY FEVERISH AND GLAD.
I AM THE ONE STANDING. AT the feet of TITANS JUST BEFORE BATTLE. I AM THE FORCE WITHIN AND WITHIN I REMAIN.

Premium Member Ma's Little Imp

Tussled hair, bruised knees, toothless, lop-sided grin;
Ma is so thankful her dear little imp wasn't born a twin!
She likes things running smoothly, like a finely-tuned violin,
But her little boy marches to his own drum, much to her chagrin!

To begin the day he feeds his breakfast oatmeal to the dog.
Opening a drawer, Ma lets out a screech, finding a slimy frog!
He encourages a fight between Rusty the dog and Simba the cat,
And 'round and 'round they go, in raucous heated combat!

The preacher made his periodic call and settled in his seat.
A whoopee cushion made a lewd noise, startling him to his feet!
He mumbled a hasty good-by, and headed for the door,
As the little imp, choking with laughter, rolled upon the floor!

Ma made treats for her bridge club, saying they were not his fare,
But on bridge day, lo and behold, she found the cupboard bare!
He pestered his little sister unmercifully with never any slack!
"Mommy", she screamed, "he put a slimy worm down my back!"

Tho' he drives his long-suffering mother up the wall,
She wouldn't trade him for any other little boy at all.
After his prayers at bedtime and seeing his sweet, angelic smile,
Ma plops in her chair seeking repose from another daily trial!

Wait, What

It's a melodrama. Try to picture the drama queen
A bit actress lying on the floor in her final scene
Her lips trembling, tears running down her face
ruining her makeup in a gown of satin and lace

You won't win any Oscars, Honey. Not this time
Take lessons, hon. You can't act worth a dime
She's quick to blame everyone, but not herself
She claims innocence, but she's an imp, an elf

She's been insulted, but that's a falsified claim
Seriously, is she for real, or is warring her game?
No one has called her cruel names, not one of us
She's just a sad soul to have created such a fuss

Some poets are thin-skinned and misunderstand
that comments made are not given as a reprimand
But lo and behold... she sure came out swinging
like a bat out of hell with her accusations slinging

So lady poet, try and get a good grip on your life
No one is out to get you or cause you bitter strife
No one has rattled your cage or crushed your soul
and no one is bullying you with the acts of a troll

Your mean-spirited diatribes should reach an end
Maybe then you'll feel better; able to comprehend
You keep blowing a whistle without a good reason
and you've made yourself a victim of poetic treason

I'm wondering why you think your views are fine
and I should not be allowed to give voice to mine.
I didn't call you ugly names, neither of us did that
so stop clawing at us like some hissy spitting cat

It haunts you like shadows inside your imagination
So let it go and stop the outlandish discrimination
Don't you see that the delusions inside your head
are figments in your mind; things that you dread?

Trees

What is this spring if, laden with grief,
I have a wish to see trees coming into leaf

And their foliage nourishing, beginning afresh –
And being as soft as the touch of Zaldania’s flesh;

And their verdance gleaming in the sun,
Where children can hide and seek and have fun.

A wish to lie beneath the trees and watch the stars,
At night when breeze sways humbly the grass;

And the boughs of trees rustling in the cold,
Like something almost being told.

A wish to hear jovial birds chirping in trees during the day –
To relish their melodies and their vernal songs and be gay;

A wish to lo and behold with a smile, trees growing high,
Come new season, they seem to say with a beseeching sigh;

And wash away these shriveled leaves again,
So we can blossom new lease of grain –

And help recover the branches that were cut into wood,
By these people who reside in the neighbourhood;

A wish to sit and watch the trees dance,
To fulfill my leisure whilst I enjoy their glance.

And sing a jolly song as I watch them shake,
Hence slumber in their shadow and tarry to wake;

Just like they once died and then began anew,
I also wish that if I die I come back too.

O dreadful this spring if, laden with grief,
I have a wish to see the trees coming into leaf.

Health got you down?
  Blood pressure's up?
Can't sleep at night?
  Nothing left in your cup?

Hey! Take it easy!
  Kick back! Settle down!
You take life too seriously!
  Go find your inner clown!

Kid around! Tell a joke!
  Think of a funny riddle!
Come on, Jack:
  Pick up your fiddle.
  Hey diddle-diddle!

Don't be a crank. Play a prank!
  Give yourself some room.
The best Rx for you
Is to cast off your gloom!

Don't believe me?
  Think it's all hoo-ey?
Ready to stick out your tongue
  And go PHOO-EY?

Well, I'll tell you what happened
  To my friend at the doc's;
When they read him his blood pressure,
  His knees 'gan to knock;
It was up there so high,
He was sure he'd soon die...

Then the doc came in,
Flashed a silly grin,
His fingers stroking
The imaginary Beard on his chin,
My friend thought this so funny,
  He laughted his nose runny,
Til Doc gave him more news:
He had the 'urine test blues.'

Well, that really did it,
  My friend couldn't quit
Laughing and guffawing
  Til his sides nearly split.

When he fin'lly calmed down,
Doc said, "Sit back and rest.
It's time to retake that silly
  Blood pressure test."

And what do you know?
  Lo and behold,
When the reading was taken,
My friend's heart no longer was achin,'
And his pulse had stopped racin.'

"Good Heavens!" cried Doc,
"We musta been mistaken!
Either that or all these yuks musta
  Fixed ye:
  Your blood pressure's down to
  110 over 60!"

Premium Member I Dreamed

I dreamed...
Of driftwood
Dancing over waves
Performing flips
And leaps
Before collapsing
Into despair
The deepest depths
Ever swallowing
Can't breathe...
Can't speak...
The driftwood
Breaches the surface
Hanging on
By a splinter
Thunder crackled
Lightning lanced
In the middle of the sea
There are no gods
There are no hopes
And no dreams
Only deepest despair
Of what lies beneath
And the overwhelming sense
The end is nigh
I dreamed...
Of driftwood
But lo and behold
The driftwood
Was my hopes and dreams

Mom’s Night Before Christmas

T’was the night before Christmas
Downtown stores they were packed
Shoppers looking for deals
Bargains bound to attract.

My mother navigated crowded streets with care
She put off Christmas shopping until Christmas Eve
Knowing the sales would still be there
She would check off her list – this she believed!

Every year, the same game
This her habit, her tradition
Christmas Eve shopping – her claim to fame -
Like a wise woman on a mission

All parking lots said no room in the inn
Garages full, nary a spot in sight
But mom didn’t worry, slowly she grinned,
She knew the secret for parking this night.

Singing Silver Bells, her favorite carol,
With visions of gifts purchased, just in time,
She wore her mantra like festive apparel
“There’s always room at the head of the line.”

Lo, and behold, what appeared
One parking place at her favorite store
Quickly she zipped in filled with Christmas cheer
Ready to finish her holiday chores.

There’s always room, her holiday legend,
One she passed on to me, thankfully,
When finding a mall space I look to Heaven
“Thanks, Mom!” I say with Christmas glee.

Miracles happen at this time of year
In positive thinking believe
A star in the sky – a Savior appears
All of life’s burdens to relieve.

Every year on Christmas Eve my mom would drive downtown to do her Christmas shopping. With every garage and parking place taken, she would, every year, find a place to park in front of the door to her favorite store!!!! Her mantra lives on – “There’s always room at the head of the line!” Perfect for the belief in miracles at Christmas!

Premium Member Tamed By a Red Rose

I sat in the park
On a dark Autumn day
The rustle of leaves
Natures death bouquet

They swirled and spun
Around my park bench
What i witnessed next
Made my cold hands clench

Where the leaves dispersed
An angel appeared
Tattooed dressed in black
My life for i feared

On approach to me
My heart raced
A black angel
To me face to face

As i await my fate
She sees what i hold
There's a sadness in her
As tears start to unfold

She has spotted the red rose
I bought for my girl
As all around
The park started to swirl

Leaves flew
In sporadic directions
Tree's cried
Like hurtful infection

The sky darkened
As thunder rolled
One lightening flash
And lo and behold

As i raised my head
She was smelling the rose
Her feathers of black
In outward pose

Staring, watching
Trying to believe what I'm seeing
A black angel in the park
With a entranced human being

The clouds dispersed
Just as soon as they came
The tree's stood silent
And the leaves did the same

Her hands clasped
To her breast they close
This black angel cries
Tamed by a red rose

Your Other Half

It's okay to be single you get to go out and mingle, can even make your own jingles until the day you start to feel a constant tingle.

A feeling you haven't reached your goal because you're not yet whole. You go on date after date but you can't really relate so you just tolerate while having a longing for your soul mate.

You listen to society, they say you must have variety, you put on a false face, a fake laugh wishing you could make him take a polygraph cause you're so tired of getting the shaft, you start to pray to God foe your other half.

But your friends tell you to get a grip you have to have companionship so you go on another trip, after all it's just another booty call until you hit a brick wall.

Even though you're thinking of the downside you have your pride until you take home Dr.Jekyll and Mr Hyde, by The Grace of God it wasn't your final ride.

Now you're leery of dates, knowing you were delivered out of a hell of a strait so you suck it up and wait, lo and behold there stand your soulmate. You look to the sky and say God you're great.

You see, when life's laws you shun, and keep finding yourself outdone, stop being on the run. You'll know when you have found your hun because one plus one will equal ONE..

Don't drop your jaw this is not a flaw. It's Divine Law.

WOMAN BUT HUMAN

I stand tall,
Hope won’t fall,

I can fly,
One day will die,

I am strong,
But also wrong,

I am loud,
In a crowd,

I am free,
I choose to be,

Not in prison,
I’m a person,

I love honey,
More than money,

I fear poison,
Am I chosen?

Sometimes lucky,
Always plucky,

I may lose,
If I snooze,

Can be brave,
More I crave,

I’m no coward
I’m empowered,

I am lovely,
Always bubbly,

Am I ugly, said I’m not
Laugh a lot,

Do I Lie,
Rather cry,

Tell the truth,
Since my youth,

Am I lazy,
Sometimes crazy,

Am I old,
Getting there,

Lo and behold,
But with flair,

Sometimes silent,
Never violent,

Am I weak,
Hope not I’d freak,

Am I stupid,
Think I’m cupid,

You think so,
Perhaps that’s no,

What is my fate,
I have to wait,

Do I crawl,
Drive others up the wall,

Do I love, with all my might,
And strength and sheer delight,

My name is woman,
And only human!

I lost my old bucket so sadly,
And felt oh so terribly badly;
Then lo and behold
A pot full of gold!
I'd lose me another and gladly.

Premium Member Derby Day

Here we are in the spring month of May.
It’s late afternoon on the month’s first Saturday.
Lo and behold, we have another Derby Day.
The annual Running of the Roses takes place today.
At Churchill Downs racetrack in old Kentucky,
several thousand spectators are hoping to get lucky.
Whether they are betting for a win, place, or show,
the first horse crossing the wire is what they would like to know.
Horse racing holds no interest for me.
I have much better uses for my money.

Hold On To Your Confidence When Called To Your Mission

Sometimes you may feel like you're stuck on the benches of life
Not knowing if you'll ever get in the game causing you anquish and strife
Dismissed and unused never getting a chance to play
Just praying for an opportunity to hopefully shine one day
Yet the longer you sit idle your confidence dwindles to the ground
Feelings of despair that life has somehow let you down
You need to hold on to your confidence by trusting in the Lord God
Knowing your ability, knowing your capabilities with self assurance in your heart

Just don't be arrogant which an exaggeration of what you think you know
Remember God is in control and its He who runs the show
Just wait to use the gifts that God has given to you
Just wait for your season it will be coming true
Understand that your mission is godly ordained
Understand that your calling is godly arranged
You might be overlooked and passed over for the task
Just hold on to your confidence your time will come at last

My son loved basketball and he always had a dream
That he would make it onto his junior high school team
And lo and behold his dream came to be
He became a member of the varsity
Yet he sat on the bench game after game
And I could see his confidence start to wain
And when the coach finally put him in
My son overcompensated trying to win
Mistake after mistake my child endured
His confidence in his ability had fallen through the floor

And following that game we prayed so that my son could see
That if you trust in the talents God's. given you there will be victory
And the next time my son played for his team
He scored 31 points thus fulfilling his dream

Jesus sees you and He knows your potential
Jesus sees you and to Him you are essential
Yes God shows up at the benches in life
And He will put you in the game when the time is right
So hold on to your confidence and keep pushing ahead
You will be called to your mission and by the Holy Spirit be lead

Premium Member Us Vs Them

Laying down kindergarten knowledge for all too see
Fish they have fins, and birds they have wings
Standing against the crowd, boasting banners of equality
Daring to discern the difference of things!

You plant a seed into an egg
and lo and behold something grows!
A man is a man,
a woman is a woman.
And they call me a bigot for claiming so.

(our self esteem so fragile
a gentle breeze and were shattered)

Unisex Toilets and Male Pronoun Hysteria
'him' and 'he' sending shivers down our spines
our profound differences carelessly intertwined
Servants to non-overlapping magisteria:
God is Love and God Was Never Real
Love is Love as well as Carnal Appeal

Muddied into grayness,
neither this nor that.
We threw away it's importance
at the drop of a hat.

It's a cause for celebration
when a girl becomes a wife.
Not cause for demonization
of a "stereotypical" life.
Christ is the Head
and the Man is runner up.
Not chauvinism,
but Scripture's order of love.

Let us not degrade ourselves
by boasting sameness
lest we forget the gifts we're given.
But be you in the Truth
and there is no difference.
IT'S NOT US VS. THEM!

But God searching Men
Women, Children.
Our hearts are not hidden
from his wisdom.

NOTE: I never wrote about this topic before... but it's been on my mind lately. I know in this day 'n' age I'll probably be scorned for writing such a piece, but let me conclude with a quote from Voltaire:

I do not agree with what you have to say,
but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.
