Best Levity Poems
There's a poet named...Eileen
Who's sweet but sure can get mean
So don’t cross her path
Or you’ll taste her wrath
Just tell her, “You are...the QUEEN!”
She tries so hard all to please
You'll get her if you just tease
She is dynamite
Can set you “alight”
She might...your trigger just squeeze!!
She loves a good cuddle too
Loving, she is, through and through
She’s loyal and kind
Though out of her mind
She longs to be friends with you
She loves to write and to bake
Belly dance, jiggle and shake
She's proud of her hair
A proud MAMA BEAR
P Soup just keeps her awake
She can't keep feelings at bay
What she thinks, that's what she'll say
A storm is quite mild
to this tantrum child
Her passion can win the day
Romance is what she's about
Quotations...she likes to spout
Steeped in yesteryear
Where knights are so dear
And true love leaves none in doubt
So try to see her good side
In friends she does take great pride
She’ll give love to you
Make you feel brand new
So take her madness in stride!

It’s been corrupted,
Even the learning systems in normality altered
The Innocence of examinations
Has swerved
Into Guilt of examinations
Exam malpractices everywhere!
Many students have sown the seed of levity
Which has grown into complacency
They, being carefree,
Are shamefully confident
They would cheat to the bull!
Assured their money could in qualms set them free.
Examiners have likewise injured the education routines of our country,
Even WAEC as a body
Of these –
In charge of its structures
They, like an engine that sucks tanks of oil,
So do they take bribes for scripts exchange
And manipulation of grades imputation.
Parents and guardians are fans of students and teachers:
Supporting their children,
And moderating tricks with teachers and examiners.
These exam malfeasances are done throughout:
From the class to external exams offices.

MORNING LEVITY
Dalliance of daybreak, lightens
the shadows, in between dusk and dawn.

Levity and gravity
The weight of gravity and lightness of levity complement nicely
Like a seesaw or ying and yang they are balanced precisely
Levity may add the touch of light relief in a minuscule dose
But too much is like bubbles ascending up one’s nose
Frivolity or levity in a situation of gravity
If timing and humour are used in proportionality
Can lighten a grave matter of intense sobriety
Overdo levity and it will make a mockery of a funeral
However if the lightness is only rather ephemeral
At a crucial point of solemn gravity
A fond memory recalled with levity
Will lift the congregation in entirety
Gravity and levity played their roles in scientific history
The force of gravity was thus no longer such a mystery
After that falling apple landed on Isaac Newton’s head
I dread to think of the loss to physics if it missed him instead
Now the pinnacle of levity was not a plane or hot air balloon
But when man defied gravity and levitated to the moon
A Latin scholar taught me the root words gravitas and levitas
In Roman times the former was a veritas and latter only vanitas
A Roman leader would hope to possess dignitas and gravitas
While a feckless fool was likely to exhibit imbecilitas and levitas
But words and their definitions become archaic or evolve
Not unlike the rise and fall of empires which sometimes just dissolve
Verses swirling in a rage
Rancor feasts on every page
Love, Light and Levity
~ Arrows toward Longevity
Levity escapes me as the sun fades
Long shadows reach out to join in darkness
Silence gives way to a humming moonrise
Stealthy scents tempt predatory patience
Red eyes gaze into hungers haunting need
Soft feet muffle the presence of the prey
The subtlety of motionless movement
Awaiting the starters pistol of fear
Moonlight bathes the edges in silvery blue
A painter’s trick to lure you to its trap
Hold you in its masquerade of now
The brushstrokes of darkness counting coup

Shall we acquiesce to mornings first glow in flight
To the flags of yellow golden daffodils lined in a row
Flowing over mothers’ soft hills on new born grass
Like tiny soldiers at attention on the milky dawn
Elsewhere over the marbled planet surface blue
Where baby dolphins jump from the womb
From their home of salted liquid depths
Only to land in a splash to ocean’s laughter
Harmonized with giggles from children on a day trip
Watching with wide eyes from somewhere ever after
If not on the iron boat deck wide awake
Surely students would be beneath the waters deep
Out at sea is no place for little children, trip or not
Should a storm arise upon the morning
Ships are known to sink without a warning
No matter what the acquiescence inclinations are
No matter how delightful nature seems to be
Or how high the dolphins leap to leave the sea
Safety should always be our first consideration
Regarding such destinations and flights in levity
*Note: (If only dolphins and children could fly away to distant destinations. If only flowers could retain their yellow. What a different world this would be.
thirty minutes of blueberry hail ~ silence in heaven for half hour

intricate indicator of idealism
tantalizing tale of temperance and truth
youth utilizes levity gladly
Childlike levity, a bliss bath
Soul’s innate vibrancy
Each moment a holy sabbath
Free from delinquency
Give ego a wide berth
Revel in bubbling mirth
Beholding soul’s rebirth
Defy gravity
Childlike levity

Quietus
In the Year of the Dragon
In a world that has gone so wrong
Where gaslighting is the only light most see
There must be a way
To rise to the surface
Break free
And get a breath of real fresh air.
Of course there is,
But it’s not what you think.
It’s not to trust the science or the polls
Or fake fact checkers,
It’s to do something completely different
Like Monty Python
Or Mary Poppins showed.
Something so different is disturbs even yourself
Something so outside the box
That all that’s left is the ridiculous
Making you think you might just die
Of laughter
Before you get your next breath.
But breathe we do
Again and again,
And again again.
What we need is levity after all
To break down the walls of despair and fear
And earnestness.
It’s all bullsh*t after all, right?
So get with it and hone those bullsh*ting skills
Like your life depends upon it.
Because it does.
Because the world as we know it
Needs a little deconstructing
As it hardens into a little cyst.
And the best way to do that is to quit believing
Quit trying and dreaming
And hoping to become,
And instead just be.
And when we just are
The absurdity of it all
Will simply shine,
And as it shines
Mirage-like in the shimmering heat
We rise disembodied in the light
Without identity, without a care
Free at last of all the silly things
We use to hold ourselves down and in
And beneath
All we want to be,
Which is
In the end
Simply free.
So relax
And float up
Up and away laughing.
It’s not a bad way to go.

A little levity
goes a long way
I always say
Though naught but play
oversalts the entree
spoils the day
Some may say
it is a curse
who's to know
but could be worse
altho' no aesthete
I'm not averse
to levity when
taking up the pen
to scribe a poem then
making it rhyme
it's wit I seek
one line at a time
with tongue in cheek
(roses are red Mondays are blue
honey is sweet violets are too)
and once in a while
as humour is the fave
to break out a smile
late in the day
catching words
before they slip away
giving voice
to my innermost thoughts
whimsy is my quirk of choice
