Our lives are not immune to the impact of time,
nor is our mind between the tensions of love and hate.
That's why I curse this wanderlust heart -
still searching for that wandering star.
without a guide - without a love to call my own.
I try not to look back, but sometimes certain scents,
remind me of things that saw me as a minority.
A summer heart misplaced in winter's wickedness,
a child frozen in the passages of a stolen childhood.
Ingredients of my life are a juxtaposition of flavours,
finding purity among diseased hearts,
fighting against principles of corrupt minds
and I hurt nobody - until they pushed me,
it was never about the physical - but the mental.
Silence is different in adolescence -
suppressed into a protective bubble,
you reject the harshness of existence.
My small hands could not hold the burdens,
so I was mute as demons slayed my father,
his anger drowning my brothers into darkness.
Tears of my mother, dehydrated my soul,
so I grew like a tree with broken branches -
sometimes naked, sometimes an abundance of green.
Even in an obscure world of nightmares,
my heart was a light bulb, full of dreams -
but misplaced in a place of misunderstanding.
I adopted silence in the violence,
because I struggled with reality's fabrications.
Fatherless,
I found acceptance in the war on the streets,
where love was poison, but hate brought prosperity.
Only surviving due to my father's name,
yet I knew it was an unwinnable game.
My hands were pacifying guns,
so I learned to exist without bullets.
I was a black sheep in a strange white herd,
opposing shepherds who couldn't tolerate me.
A clean soul in a dirty social order -
a peaceful heart seeking a place to call home.
Silence is a choice in adulthood.
I used to ignore the pain from unhealed wounds,
but today the inner child screams and shouts,
because oppressors can no longer mute my tongue.
Death taught me not to be bitter,
stubborn fingers how to bleed ink onto paper -
showing compassion in an ugly world.
If life was so simple, we wouldn't look at it differently.
Our perceptions are based on what we have learned,
what was, what is to come and what we search for.
Where you end up depends on how you deal with the past.
I walked in darkness along the shore
seeking only solitude and nothing more
Thunder drummed from somewhere far away
like foreboding timpani as clouds began to play
They competed with the roar of bally waves
crashing to the beach in rhythmic laves
Everything was out of reach for me
the moon, the stars, the depth of the sea
Echoes of a nocturne were swirling in my head
Lyrics left unsung, but spoken instead
My soprano continued; the falsetto stopped
Too weak to stand, on my knees I dropped
My footprints had been erased by an ebbing tide
No longer able to run. I chose not to hide
Blind in the darkness, my loneliness daunting
a flash of lightning, then another more taunting
I lifted my eyes to the sky, to the falling rain
its sting delivered in a medley, staccatos of pain
On the edge of the sea, I waited for the end of me
My tears an ensemble, an elegy in requiem plea
I ignored the orchestra when I heard the ocean call
louder than kettle drums or the storm's howling squall
No encore would this night be able to reprise
When the flowing tide encroached, I closed weary eyes
A chorus of waves crashed like cymbals in concerto
stealing the baton from the hand of the Maestro
The moon and stars were out of reach for me
I wept as I was swept into the depth of the sea

These trembling lips cannot bear to remain mute
when their quivering begins in my deepest root
Surf upon the wave's crest of a stimulating ride,
Enter my secluded orchard upon a flowing tide
Saunter into my arbor and taste my honeyed fruit
Allow each nibble to entice with unbridled pursuit
Warm yourself in the sun as we sensually collide
Ripen with me until temptation is languidly descried
Inhale the fragrance of my skin on fleshly curves
Embrace the throbbing titillation of tingling nerves
Unshackle your heart, and have it not be denied
Caress every part of me as your fingertips glide
Hold my blossoms as they call to your heartstrings
Drink deeply of my nectar; flit your pinioned wings
Pluck me for your pleasure, with hands that shake
I await your touch; to relieve my heart of its ache
Under a blue moon
He becomes my dream
A secret uncloaked
Emotion unveiled
A mystery revealed
Existence of warmth
between my subconscious
and implicit knowledge
..And it is there
`Neath the soft spot
of this heart
where crimson bleeds
its velvets
upon his bare breath
It is there
where my blushed lips
loose their virginity
Where my fair cheeks
suffuse with rosy glow
It is there where
fiery needs are fulfilled
Fervent desires scorched
Candlelit pleasures beheld
It is there
where alluring visions embrace
my suppressed memory
and take over this barren soul
As his ardent voice calls
in an enticing whisper
and a unique accent
into my left ear
My love...
Mon petite fleur..
Mi amor...
That is a preserved time
An uncloned moment
where my unwholiness
becomes whole
That is the minute
His glancing eyes
capture my own
Only until...
Mr Sandman leaves behind
Dry proposals on wet sand
Early mist envelops the bridge
Aurora glows in new awakening
Last zephyr breeze
fades from my cheek
Then He is gone
Forever gone

Standing firm
we live
we give
we take
we learn
we strive to make sure
each day enlightens us
and brightens us
even as light fades to gray
may we keep fighting
with two swollen feet
beneath the body and soul
experiencing trials
and intense life lessons
meshed with stresses
may we persevere
turn off fear's song
may we stand firm
as we glide along
through shifty winds of change
that may cause things to sway
rearrange
but we hold true
inside the values and morality
we stand for
we
fall for nothing
we
may stumble along the trip
we
may swerve at the wheel yet
we
do not lose our grip
because no one
can eclipse the sun
yet
everyone heals
before they're done
Just when situations arise
flooding us with pain we despise
and just when it seems like
our tear ducts are dry
from ongoing cries
we may think
things are on the brink of ending
then God shows us the ways of faith
by way of love that he's sending
Standing firm
we live
we give
we take
we learn
we make sure
every day enlightens us
and brightens us
as each day takes its turn.

We Found Paradise, Its Valleys Wide And Soft Green
When your heart sang to this downtrodden and lost man
singing birds stopped singing to hear that melody;
I was broken, walking through life without a plan
if sorrows were a joke, I was their parody.
Your kiss, healed aching pains, misery's deepest pits
before, living was raging hell, a sad lost cause,
blows falling, longer they came, harder their swift hits
life had been torment, day and night without a pause.
My darling, your gentle touch cast darkness away
dawn's sweet songs began to enter this renewed heart
each singing note, romantic blessing sent my way
we had love and life, beauty at each magic start.
Each moment a dance, a waltz that was heaven sent
I joyous prisoner of my Amazon queen;
all my mistakes, this soul did so gladly repent
we found paradise, its valleys wide and soft green.
No bars needed, love cast its beloved spell
each night this appreciative heart sang anew,
you are the rarest pearl, I your protective shell
with you by my side, gifting bliss long overdue.
In dreams, we see our future, its wondrous treasures
dance floors of solid gold, you the belle of the ball
my fantasy queen giving love's joyous pleasures
of my life before you, I now have no recall.

Inspired by all three wonderful songs...
Dark And Tragic, When Fate Sets Its Black Hand To Decide
Icy cold had invaded, her heart became a hard frozen tomb
Never again would she allow love to penetrate its new armored shells
That night she had seen one of death's many tragic and ugly faces
Its ancient mask, the one that crushes love's fever and kindness in a mere blink
Now she flows through a vacated life, on wings of sorrow's eternal flight
Awaiting a doom that her crushed soul welcomes in its dark and sunken state.
His death had been tragic, yet made for some of the most interesting news
All the clever twists and turns of an old Hollywood mystery movie script
So ghastly, his head found in the graveyard, atop her lover's white tombstone
His bullet riddled body found miles away in a cheap and tawdry motel room
Perhaps now he knows, how it feels to find Fate's eternal and deadly hand
In his well deserved doom, devil that had sent her into her dark and sunken state.

Prose, ( Tragedy In One Of Life's Screams)
Not For SilentOne's contest
Note : I rarely ever do Prose. Started with the plan to write for SilentOne's new contest but my muse took me ever onward and this became too long to enter.. Giving thanks for the inspiration but it does not meet the eight verse contest requirement.
So I post it now as it is and wonder why my muse so stubbornly refused to stop writing... She vexes me to no end sometimes.....
« In love, mother.. ! »
sobbing words
an echo, like no other
the chokes and the pain, I recall
who was to blame for all that did befall?
What if
that love made sense
and the doors of heaven were open
to the voice of ardour
that could raze every single fence
we would to emotions have given vent!
What if
I failed to see through a mind
“that road was not to take”
from a dream
I was told I had to wake..
What if
I had the power of belief
In the beauty of that love
In a sweet ache
that was so brief
and so harsh..
What if
I could into my safe keep
that treasure between his ribs
ever vibrant, a rich seep
I might have walked paths of wonder!
I wonder
what would that love to me have brought?
what would have been to change a lot?
What if
I now could see the one
that got away
that one
who stole my heart in its heyday
would I recognise that feel again?
the taste of loss, would it be the same?
the pain of love, I wonder
if its savour would remain!
“What ifs”
the power to capture the beauty of the past
and transcend it to the wonder of the dream!
The nature of soul would never stand still
as the river of serenity whose current unseen
flows to reach the ocean with a spirited will
So is a poet whose pen has been drinking
from the river of life
filled with true words to the brim..

Dawn's Glory Is In Its Whispering Glow
Dawn's glory is in its whispering glow
its new hope and gifts in its golden beams
joy at waking to again see life's show
knowing oft comes a chance to life redeem.
We may recall, sound of rooster's first crow
dawn's message, its tender whispering voice
realize what little we truly know
about living, love and freedom of choice.
Rising, dare we ask what happiness gives
inquire do we with deeper kindness tread
stand true, knowing in this dark world life lives
oft waging great battles to get ahead.
As years, forward march in their steady flow
and morn continues to gift its sweet calls
shall we walk with pride, let our mercy grow
no matter what in life our soul befalls.
Dawn's glory is in its whispering glow
its new hope and gifts in its golden beams
joy at waking to again see life's show
knowing oft comes a chance to life redeem.

Rhyme, And Haiku ( The Joy And Warmth Of Dawn's First Golden Rays )
Love is ultimate, but with you it was fatal.
I had lots of laughter not until I said “I love you too!”.
Number two was my certified location
b’cos I’ve always reverenced you so high
at the topmost of priorities.
Your gladness was much more than my enjoyment,
it germinated into compulsory duties I had to perform.
My pride became your belt and my shame, your underpants.
The definition of me translated to the adoration of you.
I worry to give us a balance
but you hurry to topple the equilibrium.
My life, a spreadsheet of your errands,
subjecting my feelings into a standby
to suit your taste and exhausting comfort.
But one day!
The slightest of contact with an acid
will change the litmus colour
and a continuous debt by a tenant
will abruptly render him homeless.
Your oil is used up, the engine is knocked
and the lamp has gone dark.
A heart so tender, you deserve not.
Arms once warm have been frozen to rigor motes.
My back is turned towards you
and that beauty, you’ll never see again.
Go and taste the seedlings of the city’s daughters
and the well sauced soups of its young maidens.
I’m no longer yours even if nature advocates for mercy.
Consider my sweetness and calm now as stones
mixed in dough, baked and served with vinegar.
You proclaim “I’m now a completely changed man”,
I believe you, but for the next girl.
Know this Mr. Irresistible guy,
even if you’re the last birth of all men
I’ll never again present my affections for your selfish trade.
Goodbye my past lover, I sincerely wish you well.

Roses have bloomed colorful, wearing
A symphony of red, white, and pink.
Gardenia and Jasmine pose in white,
Butterflies are fluttering in delight.
Insects are pollinating flowering trees
Devouring nectar, a fee for the service.
Apple flowers, pretty in pink and white.
Purple peach flowers, an enchanting sight.
The fig trees nearby have flowers too
Greenish blossoms hidden from view
The tiny buds, look like fruits indeed!
In fact, they're inverted flowers within.
Flowers' aroma attracts female wasp
Eager to lay eggs, as romance begins
Inside the Syconium of a male flower.
A mutualism yearning for symbiosis.
Baby wasps will soon mature
The siblings will mate with each other
Wingless males will die, females will fly
In a hurry with the pollen they carry
Searching new male flowers to breed.
Female flowers exude a special scent
Tricking the wasp to shimmy in the stem,
A one way street to death sentence.
Female flowers pollinate, don't reciprocate
No place for the wasp to lay its eggs.
Having lost its wings, it dies for a cause
The flowers in time digest the dead wasp
And grow into a ripened fruit we call fig.
Just this one time, mutualism lost its grip.
When Night Brings Its Stillness, Silence And Tick, Tick, Tick
Collaboration with Robert Lindley
8th March 2019
Town was quiet, its heart barely beating
midnight hour came and went so fast
moon and stars blinked through open window
silence echoed in the town's invisible pulse
Strange how life gives night its powers
its more peaceful and murmuring tones
we that too oft wake to its untimely sounds
feel crushing aches in our despairing souls
Clock watching becomes our pride-less new sport
with tick, tick, tick, its rallying calls
and when that strain promises to explode
we pray dawn's falling rays wakes world's all.
We thought not to wake too soon
yet feared we may not wake at all
and tick, tick, tick, rhythm hypnotised us,
we watched no clock, but listened a while,
until it lulled our weary eyes to sleep;
we woke uninvited, but unknowingly compelled,
tones unheard would not have been peaceful
and nights powers made us beg for our lives;
the town purred with morbid contentment,
moon and stars stroked its back,
between midnight and dawn we writhed,
the quiet town passively cursed us.
Beneath a half moonlight
you become my dream
a secret uncloaked
emotion unveiled
existence of warmth
between subconscious
and implicit knowledge
And it is there
'neath the soft spot of my heart
where crimson bleeds its velvets
upon your bare breath
Its there where blushful lips
loose their virginity
Where my fair cheeks suffuse
with rosy glow
Where fiery needs are fulfilled
fervent desires scorched
candlelit pleasures beheld
Its there were evanescent visions
take over control
take over this barren soul
As my ardent voice whispers
beneath the tender of your ear
~~~ Mi amor~~
That is the preserved moment
The moment, your eyes
capture my own
Only till......
