Best Indentation Poems
It was many years ago that I used to dream
that with a small run, I could lift myself
up off the ground,
and I could fly!
I loved those dreams in which I soared above my town,
for the sensation of them was unmatched
by anything in mere reality.
With time, I noticed my flying dreams had vanished.
Oh, glorious drifting through sky -
where fled my youth? Where fled those dreams?
Last night I dreamed
I flew again!

Dahlias and daffodils dazzle as ice darts from the cold.
Dram is kaleidoscopic as moods and thoughts collide.
A rosy sun casts hues on the sky, mixing azure and gold.
Scarlet engulfs the star as a veil that swirl and hide.
The moon, garbed in a golden gown, glides in a gray sky.
Mars and Venus soar and gems and rubies adorn high.
Behind the flashing lights of a dragonfly, clouds sway.
Dawn paints skies with crimson, fuchsia, and blue.
The sun rises as aqueous gold, kindling its vivid hue.
When a fresh day dawns in the pearl flakes of dew.
A hazy horizon wanes in an abyss of gloom to unfold.
Velvet cobwebs contrast, glimmer in a silver snide.
Enhance the appeal of a green park where kids play.
On a buoyant beach where the breeze barely blew.

If you were not going to
Love me in the morning,
You should have crept away
Into the moonlight,
Faceless
You should have left
Before the daylight
Burst into the bedroom
With sparkling hope
You should not have stayed
Lingered
Loitered
Laughing in my kitchen
Drinking from my plastic mug
Acting as If
You were going to throw
Your painted mask
Into the fire
No
You should have
Faded away
Like an echo into a canyon
Like a name on the tip of a tongue
Like a dream almost recalled --
The only clue that you were here
An indentation in my sheets
I could have smoothed away
Instead of This
This pretense of love
Of normalcy,
Of old lovers on
An ordinary day,
When you won’t even
Look me in the eye --
If there is no hope
Of love
Of a you and me, an “us”
Then please just LEAVE
I fiercely prefer
The fleeting memory
Your fingers begin their release
pinkie, palm, to thumb.
The sensation lingers on my skin.
My knees week, body numb.
The indentation around my neck,
it is starting to bruise.
A shade of yellow appears.
Slowly, a green, purple, and blue.
I fall to my knees
kicked while I try to stand.
I slowly raise up my head
it’s met with the back of your hand.
Viciously from your mouth
the venomous words spew.
I can smell on your breath
the remains of your afternoon chew.
This is how painful it is,
to be in love with you.
Made quite an impression, it seems
On the chair I've been glued to so long
The indentation is an exact replica
Of my rear, hmmm, sounds like a song
Me bum and me chair are going steady
Have been since joining P-Soup
Methinks maybe atrophy is setting in
So I think I'll shoot some hoops
It's surely a result of this computer age
Our bodies will soon have no use
Our heads will be the size of basketballs
But our bodies will be an excuse
Excuse to hold up our 100 pound heads
With it's 250 gigabyte storage space
We'll actually need some kind of device
Or we'll continue to fall on our face
Made quite an impression, it surely seems
On the chair I've been glued to so long
Thinks I'll go for a ride in my old jalopy
An old Dodge I bought for a song

I crashed into a language barrier
So they put me in an induced comma
As they re-calibrated my damaged grammar
Transforming my full stop into a full start
As I wake from my abbreviation
I feel tense in the present
Realising that an apostrophe is now all
and nothing more I will ever be
I have a kindled yearning to compound
my spoken words with good intention
But I’ve become a symbol
that marks a past behaviour into memory
I stand in place of the person
whose ending is, with my start, synonymous
A person with their own tale
which I can read but can’t understand
It’s my story, but a rougher drafted version
Reading it I feel anonymous
Is this where I’m killed off but my character returns?
I find asylum asking questions, with an ampersand
And…
…The blurb on the back of life gives me the shorthand:
This is the punctuation that brings order
In the arc of your lived life
And if you see problems with recalled quotations
Then choose to learn, or live with strife
And…
I’m not ready to die
So here I am
Prepared with notation
The things I’ve seen and learned combined
Swapping the chip on my shoulder
For an indentation
And…
Don’t ever put down the pen while you’re still writing your history
And…

I reach for you in the night.
The indentation of your body was all that is left.
The bed is empty but I have the memories.
Your joy couldn't be quenched by a promise.
The table was set and the meal waited.
My word was final as you packed.
But the food was cold and empty.
And the vows were too.
I didn't believe you when you told me.
Driving you to the airport and the dam breaking.
Our song was playing but the music was silent.
I searched with my strong song.
But you had already changed the station.
I loved you and in a clean way.
And the moat that you dug was deep.
The water protected and so did your pride.
I swam with heart and the tide pulled but you watched.
We came too soon.

Waking at night, suddenly,
Silence and darkness,
Save the whisper of the wind
And a faint glow of orange light.
The familiar clutch of fear,
Always there.
But fear of what?
The unknown?
Or the known certainty that the end will come,
Gradually or suddenly,
Peacefully or brutally,
Inevitably.
Our lives are but a tiny indentation,
Then the water closes over.
No sign, no mark, no trace,
Of a life half-lived,
Of family and friends half loved.
Of chances not taken.
*******This Poem is dedicated to my little Grand-daughter, who is born as a result of this posting....In an anouncement to the World...So, let us TWITT this too.................*******
I have an announcement
I am making it today
On the behalf of all
Of God's Little Children
For the Lord has yet,
Again,
Carried the day..
------
It is for Him that
We must pay homage
Fore it is He to which
We must pay
------
He has given me such
Happiness
This is an awsome display
I swear that I should love Her
And consort Her
And let Him Lead the way
------
It is for God's Little Hand
Me down
Something for which
He is so re-sound
She is known as My
Grand-daughter
Born to my Daughter
Malika Horton
I give them both,
To the Lord,
I give them to Him
- Now -
------
This is my little
Hand Me down
A gift from all creation
Threw the blood of
Jesus
She is just another
Link
In the realm of reality
----
A boost to family relation
------
And Let Her New Soul
Be-seize Us...
As I give all thanks'
To Jesus//
------
Fore She is with
Us now, and I can
Hardly waite
But to see Her smile :-o)'s
------
She is with us now
Un-till eternality
Ever-end everlasting
- End -
She has such a
Pretty smile
Such a pretty girl
One of the most precious
Things' in the whole
Wide world... 0-o)'s!...
------
I thank the Lord
For playing this part
Fore She too
Has place yet another
Indentation..
A compilation unot
My Heart...
Dare this be my pleasure
Some-thing that I shall
Never Replace..
------
Some-thing that can't
Be erased
-----
A case of simple Love
Love beyond measure
Love beyond compare
Fore this is one of God's
Things' for which I
Have, right now

An old Dodge I bought for a song
Time's flowing tributary; the future changes the past.
Our burial cortege concludes its course at the graveyard.
Falling leaves collapse, crafting new fates; feel the weight of dust.
Some are wagered in a pitcher with burnt bones and ash charred
We tread the twisting trails, yet in the end, all come this way.
The funeral site was bleak and hushed with death and decay.
Where death reigns and no one recalls who under earth lay.
I find peace in the abyss, grasp sky, and haze through the grave.
The woods are gray guiding the cars and assuaging the crave
Nothing appears in the night when it is too brief to save.
With outworn obelisk, only the moss knows the rent draft
You have rote recall for this wreath, yet no time in this yard.
Trusting that I would rest here, bereft of any rich ray.
Leaving behind all my hard-gained assets by a name waive.

You will refuse to admit
that the way he looks at you reminds you of a wedding dress:
something you cannot see yourself learning how to wear,
laced around your chest like a straight jacket;
he will have held you like that—
many times through the phone
you would have given him permission—all the time.
It was nice for a moment.
You will eat half of everything
promising him he can have the rest
no matter how far he is, all you want to do is share with him,
leaving an invisible body’s indentation beside yours.
You will sleep with your phone next to your ear,
as if his voice can crawl into you like a memory wrapped in bed sheets and telephone
wires.
On days you remember you think about him more than usual,
you will call him by his full name, reminding yourself he is an individual
leaving yourself out of the equation as if
your relationship is a math problem:
there is always a solution, but
this is ephemeral, erased text messages and
telling yourself your both staring at the same moon—we are that close, baby,
something time can only figure out on its own.
You will have difficulties explaining to your friends that
your closest kiss landed in Minnesota with a one way ticket and
roundtrips are for the ones who know how love back
“we prefer coffee and tea, please.”
You will have nightmares about vacations
constantly reminding you that happiness comes in pieces,
then you will smell his kiss through a computer screen
and remember why you have fallen into a moment’s time.
Locks untangled slide freely over life giving, affirming white glow.
The indentation along the spines contours,
head moved forward, leant, exposed nape,
