Premium Member How To Give a Cat a Pill

1) Pick up the cat and cradle it in the crook of your arm as if holding a baby. Position forefinger and thumb on either side of the cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As the cat opens it's mouth pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2) Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in arm and repeat process.

3) Retrieve cat from bedroom and throw away soggy pill.

4) Take new pill from package and cradle cat in left arm holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut and count to 10 .

5) Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe.

6) Kneel on floor with cat firmly wedged between knees. Hold front and rear paws ignoring low growls emitted by cat. Get partner to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7) Retrieve cat from curtain rail and take another pill from the package. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set aside for gluing later.

8) Wrap cat in a towel and get partner to lie on top of cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in the end of a drinking straw, force cat's mouth open with pencil and blow down the straw.

9) Check label to see if pill is harmful to humans and drink a pint of beer to take the taste away. Apply band aide to partner's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10) Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed and get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard and close door firmly on neck. Force mouth open with dessert spoon and flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11) Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges.
Drink beer, fetch bottle of Scotch, pour a shot and drink. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect, then toss back another shot.
Throw away remnant of T-shirt and put on a new one.

12) Take cat to vet and get him to give cat the pill.

The One That Got Away

Was cleaning my goldfish bowl
in the bathroom one day,
put "Goldie" in the bathroom
sink temporarily to play,

Tried to hurry so I could
put her back in the bowl,
when unknowingly she leapt
like a dolphin into the commode,

Meantime, my weak bladder was a disruption,
so stopped what I was doing before it erupted,
finishing up and giving the royal flush,
not realizing Goldie was gone forever with a swift "GUSH!"

Felt guilty when I eventually found out,
should've known something was up by Goldie's pout,
if I had known would've brought her to fish therapy,
instead of accidentally having had her a burial at sea,

Then I thought maybe she's still alive,
maybe she'll be like that fish Nemo and survive,
swimming around somewhere making new friends,
hopefully not swimming into a dead end,

Wondering if she would get bullied or eaten,
I walked around sobbing like I'd been beaten,
feeling like a criminal who was pet negligent,
I finally made an appointment to see a fish therapist!

Premium Member Praying Mantis Pet

Hello, I am a praying mantis from the tropics,
a killer really, once I bit off the head of my lover;
and then I ate him, yummy and then I was caught,
I ended up in a pet store until one day she bought me.
I am a strange pet for a girl to have and love,
but it is so, few people realize we make amazing pets;
no weirder than a rat or ferret or snake.
My species is known for courage and fearlessness,
in ancient times we were considered supernatural gods;
but I have no powers except my praying posture,
I like to be perfectly still with my for arms folded in prayer.
Usually my girl feeds me small insects she finds,
once when I was on a stroll I reached into her goldfish bowl;
and ate her goldfish, oh my, was she upset with me,
I like to grip her finger with my long legs.
One day I escaped into the garden, oh delight,
I ate a bunch of bugs by ambush and camouflage;
you see I am the master of disguise,
I can blend into the foliage and any background.
My girl found me when I was trying to resemble a flower,
she said I was a giveaway with my two bulging eyes;
(and three small ones) darn it anyways, almost had freedom,
but in truth I love my girl and the lovely nest she made for me.
She has made it look like my tropical homeland,
with a heater and plants on which I crawl and pray;
there is never a lack of bugs to eat and I do love the light above,
so yes I am an odd pet for a girl to love;
but she calls me beautiful and that makes my wings flutter,
and I go into my praying poise for her to praise . . .

Far far away
Solitary existence;
Lakeside pagoda

~~~~~~~~~
August going away
Bumper harvest;
Mangosteens and durians
~~~~~~~~~

Because she loves me
Moving commentary;
Grumbles at something

~~~~~~~~~
Garden snail
Crawling at my feet;
Doing your rounds
~~~~~~~~~

Show flat visit
Buying a new house;
Location fits budget

~~~~~~~~~
Lovely moonrise
Sends me messages;
Love forgets pain
~~~~~~~~~

Feverish flu attack
Body senses dreary;
Mental whiplash

Strong medicine
Moon dancing sky;
Dizzy focus

Bourgainvillea
So many colours;
Enjoying the sun

Bush scrub hedge
Nice array fencing;
Outside from inside

August rain
Wet ink stains;
Moving haiku

Motionless
Carp in this lake;
Calm in swift current

Secular world affairs
Conflict hammers;
Non-negotiable stance

~~~~~~~~~
Sit quietly still
Wait for word pulse;
No haiku moment
Images in a dream
Misty morning pattern;
Awaken unremembering
Goldfish bowl
Two swirling fishes;
Romantic interlude
Birthday sunrise
Twenty-nine today;
May blessings abide
Joy fills my heart
Sorrow is too great;
Purge now all burdens
A Tale of Mumbo Jumbo
Captain Mumblebury
He is no dumbo
A UFO pilot from
The planet Mumbo
A little known planet
Shaped like a spoon
Just turn left
When you get to the moon
Mumblebury is
The captain of cool
In his UFO ship
Taking children to school
World famous he is
On the planet Mumbo
Though he actually lives
On its moon, Jumbo
With his loyal pet
Who actually speaks
A fish out of water
Known as Gillcheeks
A fish out of water,
How does he survive?
A goldfish bowl on his head
Keeps him alive
Is this story true?
I don’t really know
It could all be just
A load of mumbo jumbo
Premium Member Scarborough Fair
They stopped Scarborough Fair,
And the children went home
Clutching their goldfish bowl.
They'll remember the din,
The shouts and the screams
Plus their colourful win.
Or will name the bright fish,
Put the bowl on a dish,
Or sing soft of Scarborough Fair.
The Girl and the Goldfish Bowl
She stood there just staring
Staring endlessly at his BIG GOOGLY EYES
He was her best friend and they were worlds apart
Separated by glass and about 20 ounces of crystal clear water
She stood there pondering what was going through his mind
He held his position swimming ever so carelessly contemplating the very same thing
She has the biggest blue eyes and she is my dearest friend!
She cares so much for me
Always watching me
Protecting me from harm
Feeding me and changing my water like clockwork
I couldn't have chosen a better friend, he thought
He surveyed the room and he surveyed her big beautiful blue eyes
He thanked the Creator for sending him a most special caregiver
Thank you, God!
She has a heart of gold!
Premium Member On Pond Haiku
pond haiku ponder
coping with isolation
as an oasis
pond still, mirroring
dark clouds in the sky above
foreboding forecast
ripples radiate
out to the edge of the pond
bounce reverberate
surface waves ripple
images of trees on pond
ghostly wind revealed
the pond an island
in an ocean of dry land
verso about-face
the pond microcosm
trapped in tiny goldfish bowl
lives life as it is
land animals drink
from the pond without caring
what fish do in it
the pond a pockmark
on the complexion of earth
beauty spot when full
pond is frog heaven
prison for fish shrimps and snails
safe haven for birds
Beings In Love
In life we will never meet the forest
only an occasional tree.
We will never meet the wonders beneath the sea
though some will observe the waves above.
 This world is far too big for one life time
and our imagination is a poor substitute,
for things that we can never see.
We are born into a goldfish bowl
imprisoned by time,
and we share our bowl with mortals
who by chance or design
enrich the tapestry of this life
that we lead.
Our hearts will reach out for a mate
a husband, a wife, a lover
in the hope that they will see
the same stars in a sky
that looks down on mortal you
That special being
that defines the inner you,
whose spirit flies beyond
 this glass of existence,
for we have nothing to hide.
And though others see despair
that this fragile glass can bring.
Remember, the glass will always age
 and the winds of fortune will
always take their toll.
But this spark that we call life
will always endure
 in a world with stars above,
for they have witnessed
the meaning of love before.
And in the glow of the opulent night
 we will wish our dreams true
before the sandman washes them away.
And morning will bring your lips to mine
for life was given this way
And as a man and as a women
we will gather the dreams of you and me
for this is the oxygen of life,
and love is the fire, the reason to live
that burns an immortal flame
 within the soul.
And should our goldfish bowl
fall off this table of life,
our love will be set free.
And the earth will grow small
In the wake of this love for you and me
Death will not dim that which we shared
For love will join the opulent night
Destined to shine forever
 In this incorruptible sky.
For eternity can see the forest
and time can meet the sea,
while we shared a love
that created this world
for the world was always you
and I, was always meant
to dwell among the stars,
in a world of love,
that you created for me.
The Goldfish Bowl
The Goldfish Bowl
Once injected with water, sorrow becomes colorless and tasteless
Inside the glass bowl, all lives
only live seven seconds
The same route, again and again --
The beginning is the end. Stubborn as Sisyphus
Eyes watered and drifted away
A trace of love burns
I have a sister on Flower Road
She is the most colorful fish in the bowl
No brand, just serve regular customers
I've always been fascinated by the sublime sense of her up-rolling eyes
In the goldfish bowl
Happiness is greater than loneliness
The men and women of Flower Road know it
When I walk by
with my head down
Stares in the dark shoot me like arrows
My sister sleeps at dawn,
wakes at night
and  easy to forget all “should”
or “should not”
The Homeless Plight
It breaks my heart to see the sight.
Whilst feeling for the homeless plight.
It's sad to see in every town.
With doorways full, whilst bedding down.
While vloggers vlogging have no soul.
A life inside the goldfish bowl.
We watch for our own entertainment.
With people sleeping on the pavement.
And why we choose just to ignore.
While people sleep in every door.
This homeless plight is real life.
With individual trouble and strife.
There are soup kitchens that give them hope.
A life under the microscope.
While pushers push with exploitation.
There's spice destroying a generation.
With governments that turn blind eyes.
No help, support, or compromise.
And while they sleep between their sheets.
There's people dying on these streets.
With governments now and governments former.
Choose to stick, baby in the corner.
How did things ever get to this?
They're real people who exist!
So rather than just walk on by.
We should take the time to just say hi.
We should take the time to lend an ear.
It can be a lonely place out here.
The homeless plight, can I allude?
That people change their attitude.
We observe their plight, yet from a distance.
And make assumptions. In an instant.
Behind each life, there is a story.
Just take the time to listen warmly.
Just take the time it might surprise.
That there's a life behind those eyes.
We live in the hope that things will change.
A home for all. Is this so strange?
But whilst we just turn up our nose.
The homeless plight, it never goes.
Premium Member Satisfied Cat
Satisfied cat can sleep at the drop of a hat.
She can squeeze herself into those, this and that.
We find her asleep this morning in a goldfish bowl.
She is snoring away, like a fisherman without a pole.
Yesterday she was asleep in my underwear drawer.
She patted down my unmentionables until they were sore.
The day before she was asleep in a milk crate outside.
Luckily we knew she sometimes chooses this place to hide.
Our cat is unruffled, she can sleep anywhere.
With loud snoring sounds, she shows no one a care.
She is the cat who only puts up with us two times a day.
When were put out her kibble or put water in her electric tray.
A fish swimming in a big pool
Thought to itself this is cool.
It makes a fish feel complete and whole
An improvement from a goldfish bowl.
As the fish swam away to join the school
He prayed for survival in this big pool
The Narrow Squeak Show Chapter 6
That goldfish bowl.........
Wedged on my head,
did nothing instead
Just left an almighty hole,
where I dropped,like a piece of lead
(Not a piece of eight!)
Is it me?
Well, never mind
Lets see what I can find
There is a light up ahead.............
Maybe a bite to eat and a bed
Whew!
What a week it's been
Spaceflight!
More like space fright!
That chap upfront
Clearly insane in the head
I pushed his buttons instead!
(Especially the red one!)
You can't say I didn't try
I don't want to space fly
Those chaps  up front
That lout!
Clearly didn't know what is was all about!
It's been a busy one
All said and done!
I jot down my scribbles,
while eating my nibbles
Quite a few narrow squeaks,
These past weeks!!
I like a challenge or two
Make mine a double!
As I clawed  my way through the rubble!
My bullet charm.............
worked an absolute treat!
Even though its missing a "T"
I have come to no harm
No mean feat!
I nearly choked on that steak!
Fortunately that Chilean red wine
dissolved it in time!
I feel so alive!
Drinking Octane 95!
I can't go to heaven
I haven't even started chapter seven
The next challenge to try........................
Lets see if I can die!
