Gloomy
i'm not sure
if it's my emotions
or this day
that allowed me to see
everything colorless

daybreak arose
beneath a dismal canvas
no white puffs of clouds
no splashes of pink
to mark its rise

the trees stood there
colorless and bare
almost invisible
through a thick fog
as it rose
from tainted snow

everything blended the same
on...

Gloomy Soldiers
Eyes like cynthia's brow
starin beyond the cloud
in a ruminative refine gaze
indelliblely staring skyward

the men of the shadow deviced it
like a rustling of a dry leaf
He has rustled up,
and cross the rubicon....

Man is now cruel..
Man is bestial and blustery
Man is now a canal beast..

O why ar...

Premium Member Gloomy Reflections On the Demise of Our Beloved Mother
We gathered to lay her in the cold ground;
it was to be her resting place—poor Mom!
Grieving, I sobbed while my siblings were calm;
only I appeared distraught and unsound,
overwhelmed at the sudden loss I found
too great to bear. It was like a huge bomb
had exploded...

Gloomy Day
Gloomy Day
Dr. James E. Martin
©December, 2012

The day looks gloomy and dark.
Not a good day for the park.
So inside I will stay,
No time to play,
Time for me to make my mark....

Gloomy Contemplation
Surrounded by people, yet alone.
My only respite....the telephone.
Longing for voices, having never heard.
Hearing voices that could only unnerve.
Day after day, they blend together.
One's only hope, they don't go on forever.
Pain and sorrow, that's what life brings.
No three little birds melodies pure and sweet sings.

A Landscape, Colorful Yet Gloomy
A distorted shadow of a vagabond
goes the field bobbing up and down
in the sunny and warm spring day’s shimmering air

For the flowers in the field are at their best,
the birds on the treetops enjoy to their hearts content

The upside-down green grass field, see...

A Gloomy Cloudy Day
Waking up so happy and full of energy for now
I have all my curtains shut for now
I do not want to open them just for now
I rather have my breakfast and juice for now
I am going to take a shower and brush my teeth for...

Gloomy For a Moment
FOR A MOMENT
Your cry isn’t loud enough for the world to hear
So wipe your tears.
Even your so called ‘friends and companions’ are turning deaf ears
Wipe your tears and look up to the hills, from there comes your help
Tears come from sorrow’s hole
Tears will continue...

Another Gloomy Sky In November
The sunless evening is deprived
of its ardent and vivid colors,
the mischievous clouds
in their hastiness extend
their thin and tenebrous veil
increasing my body's chill.

They intensify the dreary darkness
invading the lively landscapes under
a silent universe so distant and squalid,
less fascinating and mysteriously far
to be contemplated...

A Gloomy Face
To have a long face
with a subtle smile,
and a darkness that lures within
the heaviness in the heart
that your mind can’t comprehend
like a star collapsing in itself,
the heaviness of the heart
collapses in itself,
forming a black hole
a dark hole, inside me...

I have withdrawn from grim and gloomy feelings.
I have no time for wistful faces that plague the day
with melancholy conversation and life-sucking sadness.
The drama too much to digest and too trivial to express.
The shroud of depression envelopes the soul
spiraling it toward the depths of...
