Best Gentleman Poems
There is a place where the land bows down to kiss the misty tide,
Where rolling waves bring memories of the place my heart resides.
There among the old fishing shacks that stretch along the shore,
I find the thing I’m longing for, in your sweet embrace once more.
We sit together on a weathered log I carve my initials on,
And as you mend the fishing net, I sing your favorite song,
“Oh Danny Boy”, falls on the wind and floats across the bay,
As you smile at me and melt my heart, with words you do not say.
Beneath a golden sun with the fish and the smell of wild flowers,
A little girl and her Grandpa, sit happily and while away the hours,
And when the sun dips in the bay, we put the mended nets away,
And hand-in-hand walk home again, to the end of a perfect day.

(In loving memory of Theodore Evans - My Grandfather)
A homeless man I saw one autumn night.
No blankets did he have as down fell snow.
A coat he wore. I watched him pull it tight
around his body. Colder it did grow.
The other homeless on the street were few.
I’m sure that to the shelters most had fled.
But then appeared as if out of the blue
a woman in whose sunken eyes lived dread.
Perhaps there were no shelters to be found
with extra beds that night. The woman laid
her body down upon the cold hard ground.
Beneath a store front’s awning she then stayed.
The man went to the woman. Off his back
he took his old worn coat. I could not hear
his words! But chivalry he did not lack.
She donned his coat before he’d disappear.
An angel of the night or a mere man?
Do angels shiver? As he passed me by,
I thought to give him coins, but then he ran.
To where? He vanished. I could only sigh.

Johnny Cash, a Southern Gentleman
I knew Johnny Cash but never got to shake his hand
A hero, myth and a legend to so many that adored him
To me he was just a country boy , fine Southern gentleman
Entertaining , caring and unselfishly giving his best to them
He wrote and performed music of the simple freedom and country ways
Lyrics so heartfelt that tears naturally fell gloriously from the skies
Of love , life , danger, death and redemption that brings greater days
Seeking the answers to the questions of the how, where, when and whys
Gifting us all with his spirit and his love of helping those in need
Joyfully playing his music while dividing up his soul to share
Offering up his amazing life complete with it's heart to bleed
His love of life and concern for others never yielding there
His music taking second place only to his beautiful soul
Those crazy, wild and daringly foolish younger escapades
Only served to endear him to us while making his legend grow
May his memory live longer than the stars that heaven made.....

My mind is lost in translation; it takes me to another world of another nation…
Woman’s scorn no longer exists…
All revenge has surpassed the heart…
Love was injected into my soul & spirit…
Veins are filled with the sweet nectar of your influences…
Brain scans all of the inevitable moments & memories of a gentleman…
Unconditional emotions set us free into the unknown yet we know…
Endless mysteries but we read easily…
Past – gone
Present – everlasting happiness
Future – set in stone
Pieces were put back together; you replaced it with a piece of yours…
Forevermore I am yours gentleman…
Until the end of time, we shall be…
Do you accept or decline…?
Heart belongs to the gentleman – no one will or can compare…
As we lay together, all I can do is stare…
No words, just thoughts running through the mind of the singer…
Thoughts running through the gentleman’s mind…
Passionate kisser, you are my renaissance lover…
Long have I been searching for you…
Shakespeare has described you in my dreams…
All his loving poems brought me to you gentleman…
Forevermore I am yours…
Love me like no one has ever unlocked my heart…
Kiss me like there’s no morrow…
Hold me like we have endless time…
Touch me like the sun touches the mountains at dawn…
Sunrise, sunset……. We will be together until the sands of time have run out…
Forevermore I am yours gentleman…
Never let go…
Lives intertwined as one…
It starts now…
Forevermore I am yours gentleman…

A Partridge perched upon a tree
entices him to throw something!
When songbirds sing and flap their wings
two turtle doves, cause headache pain.
Those mocking words, thread-worn with wear.
remind him of the dollars spent.
Defeat caves in, ... the thought of debt!
He bends his head to shield his face,
and steps upon the curb, to brace
against the mob, against the throng,
against long lines in shopping malls
He watches herds with purses out,
who attack the narrow aisles and park.
Chagrins at purpose, poised, embarked
They're mad! They charge like Joans of Arc!
No one pays him time of day
He feels the sting of frostbit cheer
and leans beneath the canopy
The sales are lit, with half-price tease
and gaggled geese attack with glee!
Pure instinct guides, their goal is keen
Gifts supreme, they seek and find!
He wonders, as they claim their prize,
if what they buy, and dollars leaked
will gratify their kin, divined?
With weighty burdens in their hands
and dollars spent from sun to sun,
he waits until his wife is done.
This madness took her far away
within the glass enclosed array
of Jingle Bells and money spilled,
of trinkets, socks and Visa bills
His feet are sore, a wrinkled coat,
unruly hair,... it glistens now,
With cheeks of red, he steels his breath.
Forefathers did, before their death!
Entrenched in snow beneath his feet,
his stomach growls, he begs to quit
He watches from the window glass.
A check-out line!! She's close!!! ...... At last!!
She's almost done, her purchase won!!
She grins as if she's fetched the best!
The smile she wears, he catches fast
And makes it worth the weary quest!
A Gentleman
There is this one man that I want to talk about.
He is very well known and very well liked. If you
don't know him - you got to check him out.
He writes a lot Epigrams and other poetry too.
Everyone is so delighted, when he writes a poem,
or two. He is not from the U S, but he writes very
well. Writing is not his only talent - Philosophy, is
his game.
He is a man of many talents, I know he likes gardening
too. He grows beautiful flowers in the land where he is
from. He is always such a gentleman - one thing the Ladies
adore.
If by now you still don't know, I will give you a hint. Trifiatis
is his last name and Demitrios is his name. Now go ahead and
check his Poetry and you will agree with me. He brought a lot of
joy and inspiration to a lot of us here. He will never be forgotten.
In our hearts he will forever stay...

Note: To a good friend Demitrios in
appreciation, for giving us a chance to
know him...
Death, He is a gentleman.
Why? So you might ask.
He invites you to his caravan,
And offers you His flask.
He is polite and courtly.
With manners yet unmatched.
You'll arrive in Heaven shortly,
Following a primrose path.
He will treat you as a peer,
You are assured of that.
You have not a thing to fear
When He tips His weathered hat.
Oh, Death, how kind You be,
For You eradicate my misery.
The nicely placed apartments of your heart are ready to let
I’ll rent and cover them all in blue and scarlet.
Now upgraded, shark and Dolphin can never be alike
so that, even your laughter fashions in designers, better than Nike.
Your happiness, more resounding than a thousand-singer choir
the re-branding job of the melody of your existence; I’m up for hire.
Under the command of your feelings like a trained loyal animal,
I inject sweet mischief to our romance like a mid-night criminal.
My bow to your passion’s fire is no magic,
my submission to our mysterious connection has nothing tragic.
That seductive poison makes me your everlasting patient,
to such an irresistible intensity, so ancient.
Your high-tech comfort because of me is making lots of sense
to enjoy the resulting glory, I’ll still wait for your license.
My doings are unrealistically pleasurable like a fictional movie
but the testament of your satisfaction will be our live TV.
A man who isn't,
Will blossom nicely some day,
A kind gentleman.
The mouse turns man
The man becomes gentleman
The gentleman reigns
Not winter blowing cold, not the rough kind
His Air Force topcoat bearing a promise;
Like a gift draped on my shoulders he’ll miss
That from anticipated distance, we find,
One dream to quell a thirsting quite refined
With gentle rush to hold, to care, and kiss.
Yet love must express, his will, to say this,
“How treasured you are and always enshrined.
So come, dear one, let’s trail the endless sand
As I go to war caressed by nights hued;
Yonder the waiting grass, near warm trees’ nest
Our vows anchored on my lifetime’s command...
Return I will, a faithful groom renewed,
Yes, only then shall we feel wholly blest!”

of Devotion for Mom
To walk the way of truth,
to live within one’s dreams
may seem the way of fools.
But fortitude of youth
rejects life’s wicked schemes,
obeying inner rules.
His journey once begun
won’t see his pathway blurred.
A gentleman is one
survives by law of word.
Content a heart is free,
life not lived by degree.
