A Gentleman

To walk the way of truth,
to live within one’s dreams
may seem the way of fools.
But fortitude of youth
rejects life’s wicked schemes,
obeying inner rules.

His journey once begun
won’t see his pathway blurred.
A gentleman is one
survives by law of word.

Content a heart is free,
life not lived by degree.

Hi Keith! I really like this poem. Gentlemen are so hard to find nowdays...but you define this wonderful quality so perfectly I had to tell you.

They were hard to find even when I was young. Unfortunately for me, the young ladies of that time only liked the "treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen" brigade. I was 25 before I found a lady interested in me, she was 33.

Thank you. It certainly is necessary to have a certain degree of resignation in one's youth, the fact that all females seem to be attracted to bad boys.

I hope it is autobiographical. I certainly found in my youth that I was not one of those self obsessed males that females preferred.
