Fish Flirting

A yellow-tailed angelfish

flashed his tail at me.

His shimmering skin was all aglow,

as he wiggled his fins and waved hello.

Flirting With Free Verse

Formal forms feel nice and safe
But meter makes me sweat
Sometimes rhymes will grind and chafe
And stresses makes me fret

Perhaps there is another way?
I need to be diverse
Panzer stanzas made of clay?
Or flirt with loose free verse

...

To write without rules? Freedom!
The shackles of rhyme snap open
And clatter to the floor
The ball and chain of meter and rhythm
Slip off and roll away
Through the septic puddle of conformity
Clunks against the cell wall
The solid steel door unbolts - one - two - three
And squeals open
Rust flakes bursting then falling
Metallic leaves onto a metallic forest floor
A breeze washes in - washes away the stale air
A poster of Dr Seuss lifts, then flaps, then rips
Then blows away
Daylight streams in - bright - white - blinding - searing
As fragile eyes adjust, the outside free-i-verse reveals itself
Freedom? Yes. But what chaos!
Repetition, imagery, metaphors and repetition - still there
And rhyme and meter!
Where should they go?
What if I get it wrong?
How will I know?
I can't take it in!

...

The door swings and closes - safe and secure
The chill draft now whispers - certain and sure
The shackles await me - to hold and embrace
The ball and chain staring - a well meaning face

Perhaps structure and form aren't really so bad
Free verse is trendy, or maybe a fad
From now on I'll stick to what I surely know
Rhythm and meter and rhyme true to flow

Or maybe I'll try again tomorrow...

Flirting With Someone's Wife

To uphold clean ethics you may strive,
But which unfeeling fool does not know
That stolen honey out-tastes that of your hive,
And that the grass is always greener over the fence?

Silver and golden rings do strongly bind
And vows of chastity nail heart to heart,
But the pulsations of newfound love
Rock and rewind things back to the start.

So return that honey-coated flirt with a flirt
And let the tides of destiny take their course;
Nothing ever happens by accident or some luck,
For it’s the hands of providence that gather and toss.

Feel the warmth of newfound love invade your heart
And, babe, return that sweet flirt with a sweeter flirt.

Flirting Boyfriend

Giggling Girty became quite shirty
When her boyfriend was acting flirty,
With a handful of mud
Delivered with an awful thud
Her boyfriend is now dizzy and dirty.

WINTER COVERED YOUR ALIBIS

Autumn’s cool breeze is over, girl
The leaves have danced their last
Memories of you drip out the edges
Of swollen eyes tied to our past
This chapter will never be read aloud
I doubt that others will ever know
We’d moved beyond the simple surface
You were so close to touching my soul

We never made it to being a couple
But we were quickly more than friends
The infatuation of those October skies
Looks quite different now in Winter’s lens
Those scribbles of yours.. once poetry
Love songs that ran along Fall’s breeze
I thought you were melting into my blues
Then I saw another you sought to please

You giggled and you sighed
Looked at him with wanton eyes
And the snow dropped from the skies
Until it covered all your alibis

True love is not a captor’s contest
Intimacy to one heart, never a crowd
Those sweet nothings I wanted for me
You voiced to many.. yes you wowed
I saw you whisper to one a love song
Then to others.. just a friendly kiss
You teased them all with your sexy lines
Love had me blind how could i miss...

You giggled and you sighed
Looked at him with wanton eyes
And the snow dropped from the skies
Until it covered all your alibis
Winter covered your alibis

Winter covered your alibis
Winter covered your alibis

~Lyric Man

Note: I wanted to write a deep song about true love and how incredible it is.. and as such, it’s devastating when you think you have love and all you have is a memory (and a painful one at that). True love is intimacy to one person. Love can cool faster than coming Winter when you learn your singleness of heart and mind have not been reciprocated!

Sue removed her Rayban sunglasses
Batted her long dark eyelashes
A consummate flirt
She smoothed down her skirt
Then scattered her late husband’s ashes!

Many friends turned up at the wake
Sue handed out sherry and cake
With hands on her hips
And cherry red lips
She didn’t show signs of heartbreak!

Her dear Joe had been buried one week
Sue went dating a rich Arab sheikh
With her sexy hairstyle
and her womanly wile
the future didn’t look quite so bleak!

Magically enticed, he approaches her
with raspy words of admiration;
teasingly exchanging starry glances
just enough to inflame a woman’s pulse
as they move through the caressed
slow pleasure of a dance under the lit
backbone of night…
In an unhurried motion,
the playful game begins as two conniving allies
flirt between the swell of coy laughter
and drop of clear logic;
while their mingled fragrance penetrates
the closed space to allow that near blooming
of a kiss : then she turns away
ruffling her luscious hair: innocently,
she winks a faltered goodbye

hoping this man would dare a rushed chase.

a bike ride with you
tastes so much more than the thirst...
one watermelon
when together in embrace
so cool upon red hot lips.

Flirting With Death, Gods and Devils

Flirting With Death, Gods And Devils

Blonde, blue eyes, tall and slim
Pretty as a picture without the wings
They go by the old names; “Lucifer’s minions”
Fellow demons on the Earth
Flirting with the boys and girls
Today, in black suits, they pray in church
Prey afterwards on lost souls
Found in corporations
They win the hearts of everyone with a wink
Gentlemen under the skin with hidden sin
As the gods they are
Never have to go too far from heaven
Gods and devils are the same
They simply operate under assumed names
We are their armies in training
Flirting with death
Is a dangerous undertaking

According to the dictionary flirting is not used for serious intentions,
but to amorously show superficial or casual interest, really?
Can someone tell me why it cannot be serious, please?
Does one have to take a course to flirt correctly?
Everyday, I think I flirt a little, yes I do,
flirting is fun and who knows where it will lead-
Giving the object of my attention a wanton look and lowering my gaze.
Having a backbone is important, not a time to be a namby-pamby!
Infinite possibilities reflect in my great big brown eyes,
just a little trick, lick your lips and smile!
Keeping the conversation going is important for sure, and remember
laughter is music to the soul, and I also
melt his heart with my words and poetry (perhaps a line or two).
Now, I shake my head, fanning out my hair for him, oh lovely he says, and
on my ears are dangling earings beautiful.
Practice makes perfect!
Quoting a memorized joke shows my fun loving way.
Remember to sigh a lot!
Straighten his collar and smooth his sleeve, believe me
touching is a very important flirting tool.
Under the table knock into his knee, by accident of course, and being
vulnerable is another good trick (you can show your strength later)-
Whisper in his ear and linger there, how romantic.
X- rated never, but something sweet will do nicely, and
you can pretend your cold, tremble a little maybe for effect.
Zen, guys love Zen, let them know that is where you dwell when not flirting.

Flirting In the Rain

She wore that blue dress tonight again.
Makes my heart ache on the verge of sin.
The way it whispers on her skin.
It looks like the wind.....flirting in the rain.
Flirting in the rain on our first date.
At Stephanie's house on the fire escape.
It was the best day of my life.
Right then I knew you'd be my wife.
It was one more time if I recall.
Downtown at the Baybrook mall.
You told me forever kid.
As I held your hand.
Like I never did.
We walked outside in the mundane.
There we were, flirting in the rain....

Whenever a pretty woman flirts with me,
this is the first thought that enters my head;
She could have anybody,
so why is she flirting with me?
She probably lost a bet.
