Written by Gail DeBole

Phillip Buster could fluster a room -
Full of men whose anger ballooned
     When came his turn to speak,
     Congress snored for a week,
All dreaming he'd peter out soon.

Note: Illustrated in Coloring within the Limericks available on Amazon.com and other retail websites.

Gail's note: Filibuster - Type of parliamentary procedure.
Right of the individual to extend debate allowing the lone
member to delay or prevent a vote on a proposal. -Wikipedia

Sustainable

A whinstone varigated thoughtless vegetative scrumptious.
A thanksgiving theology scrupulous splutter simultaneous.
A wistful zephyr as a wizened face vehemently wiseacre,
A filibuster recommends fiddlesticks to extradite fabulous.
An extraordinary amusable, desirable or sustainable flush.

It's Time!

Rebel! My children, rebel! For the light
Of day scours for a system not built,
But saved from the souls of politicians
Who are lost and will never seem to find
A means to a decision, instead delay
The growth of a nation desperate for change!

Rebel! My children, rebel! Against the
Same, sorry scene captured on TV!
Pundits protesting every agenda
From the Left and the Right, what’s the purpose?
To show me they can battle politics!
Battle this! My mom just lost her house!

Rebel! My children, rebel! How hard is
It to cross a line? Or aisle? What if
On the other side was your love in need?
Put your pride away, just for awhile,
Just to see the difference that could form.
If not for me, do it for my children’s fate.

Rebel! My children, rebel! America
Is just not a name, but a foundation
Made by the people and for the people!
And we deserve so much more than a
Filibuster to take our nation’s name.
Let the light see the dawn of a new day!

Let's Do It

peas do it
whole forests of
deciduous trees do it
we's could do it too

let's copulate

complete phylums of
pedigrees do it
i hope you'll agrees, 'n' do it
all desires to appease, do it

let's copulate

the paupers and the potentates
everyone wants to procreate
all manner of fauna and flora
do desire and simply adora

to copulate, they think it's great
every species wants its mate

giraffes are always necking
pretty parrots prefer pecking
gouramis like their kissing
waiting ladies, other blissing

so let's copulate

orchids all colored and scenting
attracting insects by augmenting
instincts desire to copulate
life’s fascination to procreate

arthropods genetically driven
give nods to drives unforgivin'
the whole world's standard of livin'
is driven by a desire insatiate

to copulate and procreate

so i hope that you'll agrees
don't give my affections a tease
i prefer not to beg, but please
i'll get down on my knees to

assume my position
on this admonition
let's copulate

oh baby, slake my burning desire
to amorously set your pipes on fire
all i really wanna do
is water your Archimedean screw

so let's do it baby, let's copulate

to tell you now, my own discourse
it's just our mattered intercourse
a filibuster would be remiss
I vote for you and me to congress

I'm unimpeachable
if you're reachable
let's do it, let's copulate

Courage and Common Sense

A rock and a hard place between,
It seemed a limited choice,
But a burning bush he had seen
And lo it was he found his voice.

And though unpopular indeed
With constituents one and all;
Courage enough to take the lead
And for what's right he'd take the fall.

For children dying on the streets,
No longer as a hostage held;
Party politics with the deadbeats,
The lies alas must be dispelled.

For rights of others, yours and mine
To walk in safety come what may;
Never more to tow the line,
He's standing up to the NRA.

A hero of the people yes,
In a filibuster what suspense;
This Republican who god bless
Has finally shown some common sense.

Orlando and Sandy Hook

Orlando and Sandy Hook

Advantage of always take advantage of
To do is what a bunch of people love
And of course we have heard as of late
Congress finds ways for funds to misappropriate.

Several of their feelings recently were fixed
All four gun control measures now are nixed
And instead of into the past each one fade
Republicans want to come to everyone's aid.

Instead of some having to end their career
Trying to make gun control bill be their idear
And all of the credit eventually want to get
Makes them feel good lets go ahead and let.

See my friend how easy it was to do
Democrats had bright idea out of the blue
Up whole congress finally became shook
By filibuster about Orlando and Sandy Hook.

Deity Be a Baby's Bottle

Walking past a mini soaked mattress; an empty baby stroller..
By it's side; abandoned this site she seems an open walkway his
Buildings and bricks less her awning; wondering, while their yard dogs
Barking once more wagging tails lonely a greeting calling out; the moon parting
Gray passing clouds left lingering; knowing how I love to kiss their dawn ?
Mothers with infants; an old man coughs; a young lady high on drugs
Looking for another mark yet settling for his blanket; her supreme court
Justice, untangling time's hair ? Leave it to Beaver, hopping up the White House
Stairs mass hysteria their latest gallop poll; besieging Molieric phantasms caught this
Camera of rewound mode with beautiful Ms. Monroe, applying rococo lotion about
Suffragette's nine inch nails ? Spotted off jingoisms European coast; his lochness narwhal....
Shedding her muumuu open waters flagship tourist a filibuster fiesta ? Apocrypha, in session.

Hey Mitch Mcconnell

Hey Mitch McConnell...
about all this talk (I hear) about indefatigable (Phila/ Philly-buster)

Police sirens wail doth punctuate the air
ear splitting soundclouds blare
another typical arrest
(guilty until proven innocent if ever)
so much for Black Lives matter protests
biased accusations didst plainly reveal
how strong arm off the law doth err
injustice against persons of color ain't fair

discrimination toward mine brethren insnare
prejudice against skin color
finds white supremacists to jeer
I don't blame Senate Minority Leader,
yet his clout asserted
courtesy gesticulating midair
helping to legislate
(outside his Kentucky bailiwick)
against racial profiling nightmare.

I live far from city of brotherly love,
a peacemonger at heart else known as a dove
yours truly ofttimes seeks succor
tilting head above.

Nevertheless (meaning no matter
yours truly lives safe distance from
where citizens take up arms
showing themselves mad as a hatter)
humility devoid of white privilege,
one country bumpkin does flatter
himself versus those donning haughtiness
trumpeting arrogance, bombasity, conceit...,
qua egotistical chatter.

Such nonstop ceaseless bluster
characterizing prolonged speech
never employed courtesy
General George Armstrong Custer
unbeknownst to above named Civil War fighter,
nary non violent stonewalling tactics,
he did not muster
namely delaying antics named filibuster
from Dutch word meaning "pirate"
became popular in the 1850s.

As an aside,
the Battle of the Little Bighorn
in Montana a fiasco
for said United States Army officer,
(a cavalry commander
in American Civil War
and American Indian Wars)
decimated his 7th cavalry regiment
against a band of Lakota Sioux
and Cheyenne warriors.

Native Americans got bum rap
essentially their tribes encountered deadly zap,
no matter mass slaughter, née genocide
occurred (figuratively) fast as fingers snap
essentially life, liberty
and pursuit of happiness abrogated
forever caught in cross hairs of bigotry trap.

The Dodgers are in LA.
How are you boys doing today?
The Giants moved to Frisco.
Is that something you did not know?
There is many a familiar face.
I have spent six years in this place.
Where do the police use mace?
Did we beat the Russians in the space race?
Yes, this is a filibuster.
Have you heard of George Armstrong Custer?
He and his men we must mourn.
They met their demise at the Little Big Horn.
Who is married to Elizabeth Taylor?
Where can I find a Vicks Inhaler?
You have heard of Norman Mailer.
He wrote the book “The Naked and the Dead”
With wine, do you prefer white or red?
How about a bottle of rose instead?
Which goes well with pizza and pepperoni?
What kind of sauce is good with macaroni?
I think you know where to find Macchu Picchu.
Those are excavated ruins in Peru.
The Incas lived in South America.
No longer do they rule in that area.
Well, I believe that is enough for your ear.
Do not worry if what I said was not clear.
As lawmakers, we must persevere.
Let us discuss serious business here.

This is how most of our elected officials spend their time in Congress

The Party of Racism

There’s a political party
that’s just obsessed with race,
all their power is built on it,
it’s rather a disgrace.
It started centuries ago
defending slavery,
campaigning for long decades to
keep blacks as property.
And when some other people said,
“Maybe this isn’t right,”
this party declared civil war,
began a bitter fight
that lasted four horrific years,
six hundred thousand dead,
and tore the whole country apart,
left out fields stained in red.
Then, when forced to admit defeat,
they thought up a new plan,
Jim crow would crush the now-free blacks,
and call them ‘boy,’ not man,
suppress all their natural rights
send men in white to scare,
make folks bow to their Klu Klux Klan,
to get elected there.
They then used their power to block
all anti-lynching laws,
segregated the bureaucracy
to advance their sick cause.
When even this wasn’t enough
to restrain southern blacks,
the party chose to filibuster
the damn Civil Rights Act!
And when this technique didn’t work
they got insidious,
they created the welfare state,
said, “You should vote for us.”
Bought black souls off with big hand-outs,
no men needed, cash for free!
Destroyed the urban work ethic
and the black family.
Now children grow up without dads
and fall to gang-banging,
people are told they can’t succeed,
there is no use in trying.
Somehow they have done more damage
then even slavery could,
this party knows it’s crushing souls,
and that it does them good.
As long as blacks are miserable,
as long as they’re kept poor,
this party can just buy their votes
with the temptation of more.
Worse still, this party has declared
skin is ‘identity,’
that they can decide, by your flesh,
what a person believes.
One is ‘oppressor,’ one is ‘oppressed,’
one other half-way stuck,
they see no individuals,
don’t believe in that stuff.
They have their nice categories,
insist you must belong,
if your resist they call you slurs,
get your fired…that’s just wrong.
There’s a party of racism,
there’s no contesting that.
You ask what is this party named?
We call them Democrats.

Filibuster

A legal way to stop a vote
Is something that may tax one’s throat;
A speaker has to talk for hours,
Using her persuasive powers.

There are rules they’ve locked in place
That Congressmen must all embrace:
He or she can’t take a break –
Sitting down – a big mistake!

Leaning on a desk’s taboo;
Other things you cannot do –
Have a meal or leave to pee.
(That would be the end of me!)

Filibusterers can drink
Milk or water, but I think
If a bathroom’s not permitted,
Drinking likely gets omitted.

Wendy Davis, Texas Dem.,
Spoke ‘til 10:03 p.m.
In her bright pink Fila sneaks,
She defied her foes’ critiques.

Though opponents sought a crack
(Like the brace for aching back),
Davis kept her fight alive,
Demonstrating guts and drive.

Nothing really seemed to fluster
Davis, on her filibuster.
She deserves a silver platter
Just for her amazing bladder!

Miserable Stump Am I

Miserable Stump Am I

What a fine morning it was....
With an axe I saw him come
One, two, three trees he passed
Before fixing gaze on me.

The menacing axe so bright....
By the way he removed it
From his shoulder, I could see
The thing was pretty heavy.

He spat on his grisly palms
Before the thing he swung
The blade fell Full Square
As again and again he struck.

Blood oozed from dumb me
Swayed by the heavy blows
While he contorted ugly face
To propel more deadly blows.

              *

A racy bird wishing to rest
Or on the branches to nest
Under the paralysing fright
Past, she zoomed in flight.

Squirrel out of the burrow
Left family in the hollow
Dragged in the severed trunk
Giddy in the wicked bunk!

When I creaked and slanted
Humanity was not enchanted.
When Dust rose as I fell
Raised was the death knell!

Then I saw some smoke rise
In Town one cold sunrise
Someone warming his desire
On a dead tree on a fire-

Possibly sitting on a table
Legislator in idle warble
On which he is a master
Environs Laws to filibuster!

               *

Never again did I see this man
Is he dead by oxygen starvation
Bereft by greens that he killed
And the trunk that bore them?

A moment of silence therefore
In honour of the fallen Tree
And a moment of breathlessness
To save oxygen thus depleted!!!

**Deforestation is a problem we must all curtail.

Syllables of rock formations;
Sold pies of dispositions;
What does it matter?

Matter

And what'd the measure;
When you open up the pleasure;
Does it matter?

Matter

And what's the measure;
What's your pleasure;
And why must I muster;
This is a heavy-burden filibuster;
Cloudy nights and darken days;
Can't imagine that crimes pay;
I must resign from my life of life today!

This is the measure;
This is my pleasure;
And yes it matters;
NO not antimatter;
It's all unveil to hang my sign out;
Heaven is just closed Satan moved out;
And yet we all have the choice;
This is what I'd voice

and yes it does, it

Matters

Vacant Perdition

Vacant Perdition

Reeling listless
Empty story
Gazing, endless
Mandatory
Purgatory
Muted motion
Thinking sorely
Null devotion

Sudden urges
Fleeting feelings
Will emerges
Sailing ceilings
Disused dealings
Mislaid purpose
Broken meanings
Without service

It’s insipid
Bouncing bluster
Wisdom wicked
Nothing mustered
Lacking luster
Sempiternal
Filibuster
Silence vernal

Parliament filibuster relinquish;
THOSE THE CRIMES Earth leaders’ vessels rise and sequestered;

Differs from God voice He’s set lose;
Mighty Men of Mighty Muse of God
Come together and his truths Elohim so honor Him in praise now;
