Best Enshrouds Poems
make love to me in anger tinged with pain
for death is lurking near my soul to reap
the world is closing in, I can't keep sane
at time of death these thoughts alone I'll keep
of right to live my life, they will deprive
a darkness drenched in doom enshrouds my mind
make love to me and let me feel alive
there in your arms is where I solace find
Make love to me in frenzy's maddened pace
my body ravage now to match my soul
sear all from eyes except your angel face
Make love to me and try to make me whole
For death will come with lightening speed I know
What is this life? My thoughts are left to seethe
Rebellion pumps my heart and makes blood flow
make me forget the need to even breathe
Make love to me and let me die tonight
my final taste of life, let it be love
and should I meet with death by morning light
let starlight eyes then take me up above
Make Love to Me....
Eileen
There is no coping mechanism...
there is only fear....anger...and a desire to live.

“The woods are lovely, dark, and deep. . . “ Robert Frost
These woods are deep. Tonight they are not dark, though,
for a fog enshrouds me, but unlike Robert Frost,
who stopped with awe to watch his forest fill with snow,
I’m filled with dread. My car went dead, and I am lost!

“Seducer, healer, deity or thief,
I will see you soon enough—
in the shadow of the rainfall,
in the brief violet darkening a sunset—
but until then I pray watch over him
as a mountain guards its covert ore
and the harsh falcon its flightless young.”
-Dana Gioia’s Prayer
Captivated, cruelly scorned
Innocence breached in the caress of sifting leaves
I breathe…
Shards of crimson ice splitting the skies,
I breathe…
Hung in the nest of my Guardian’s threshold
I breathe…
I receive the tantrums of travesty,
Though I pause, the air suspended in my lungs
Death, damasked and naked
The hairs of his youth dancing in the breeze
I breathe…I breathe…
Words of ire, phantom echoes in my mind,
I breathe…I breathe
The pain of existing taught in those eyes
I breathe…I breathe
Until the fighting for control ceases
Until the lungs are filled to the brim with torrential tears
My eyes, open, lifeless
I see you, gallant Guardian
A silhouette sobbing, a heart pounding and throbbing
You sing to me, lulling life wonder
Spices surround me, for you are my Gatherer of needed scent
Allowing your tears to fall, refusing to grieve
Seeing in me budding revelation
Your lips hot against mine
Gently, gently you breathe
And in Death’s astonished brow,
I live

So easily my brain ceases to be
Lacked in comfort how hectic it could be
Brain cells wrapped around membranes like tree stems
Within the frameworks of the Universe
Brain cells have more mass than stars that compass
So easily my brain ceases to be
Dendrites form the shadows of tree branches
Visually compelling to the eye-minded
Brain cells wrapped around membranes like tree stems
Does this brainstorm begin and have an end?
Twirling and swirling can’t we comprehend?
So easily my brain ceases to be
Medicines that we can’t apprehend
Enabling the brainstorm that never ends
Brain cells wrapped around membranes like tree stems
Mystery enshrouds our Brain’s functions
Those pills blunt and fill those with apathy
So easily my brain ceases to be
Brain cells wrapped around membranes like tree stems

Night succumbs like a powerless pawn
Melancholy grins the brink of dawn
Hollow skull enshrouds a vacant tomb
A Possum’s fate amid vulture’s plume
The sirens scream as if they’re aghast
And the garbage steel goes rumbling past
Power line wire grips a well-worn shoe
Pot holes tease the dark avenue
Flowers lay dying near a broken hoe
Smirking weeds laughed long ago
My dust consumes a captured steed
Of dirty hues and unknown breed
Someone’s eyes too tired to fight
Right of yellow, left of white

Within my secret realm… this verdant pond,
Unknown to many of the townsfolk’s eyes
And by its ridges I meander long,
On through November nights, as hours drift by…
A quiver in the grass so evergreen;
When frosty breeze imbues a shimmer while
It mirrors younger times across its bends;
That only spellbound musings can recall
Fair autumns’ glaze among the silver trees.
How printed leaves descend in curved roulette
Then glide past my embroidered frock, I swirl;
A final chance to roam, to blow a wish
Caressing the ledge of my pond’s abode,
Before the white of snow enshrouds its charm.

I lay in bed by the window side at night,
gazing into the gleaming eyes of enchantress - the moon.
She casts a spell of sweet dreams with her shimmering light
and a serene slumber enshrouds me, a magical boon.
A world full of colorful fantasies come to life and I swoon.

Draw back the drapes of those tenebrous clouds
for my eyes desire a glimmer of the pallid moon.
Sullen shadows of night, her beauty enshrouds.
Covering her faint glow is a sin, I dare impugn.
Lustrous is her light when emerged in the night,
as pale as the alabaster skin of my love's cheek.
A pearl in the sky. Passion's flame she will ignite,
reflected across waters in an aura of mystique.
Without the moon, my soul would mourn, bereft.
Her splendor worthy of lyrics written in musical bars.
I would write a sonnet for her if my hand was deft.
Even though her hue is wan, she outshines stars.
I'll not weep for the moon while her light wanes.
I'm aware that it's just a phase, and soon will pass.
Then, comes the time when her luminance reigns
and billowed nimbus will turn aside for her. Alas!
If overcast shadows choose to darken the skies
let them do so to offer shade from the sun's heat,
but never allow them to conceal from my eyes
the trysting place where the pale moon and I meet.

Cloud lifts
Haze drifts
The drowsy earth looks freshly cleansed
Bone chillness can be truly sensed
Light dew
Bright hue
Fine view
Rain falls
Wet walls
The sun goes hiding behind clouds
Drops drip as dark aura enshrouds
Muddy puddles
Water muddles
Crowd huddles
Snowy flakes
Frozen lakes
Sashaying in robes of white array
Winter's cold breath blows me away
Ice skating
Skis waiting
Snowmen creating

Verse
Dear God, my love for you flickers in wavering shadows,
Caught between the whispers of evening prayers
And the intoxicating allure of liquor’s path.
I am well aware that this habit I cling to displeases you,
Yet I beseech you, dear God, how can I find repose?
How can I surrender to sleep’s embrace?
Your kindness, a radiant beacon in the vast expanse,
Leaves me in awe.
But within your world, cruelty dominates.
From the break of dawn till the descent of dusk,
I confront the unyielding face of Your world’s reality.
A realm steeped in injustice and hostility,
Where love and compassion are futilely sought,
Their traces lost amidst the clamor.
In the sheltering hours of twilight,
I yearn to release the burdens that plague me,
To erase the echoes of nonsense, pain, and regret
That haunt my being.
And so, I turn to the amber elixir,
With its seductive allure,
Hoping to numb the jagged edges,
Seeking refuge and respite
In its transient embrace.
But God, please understand,
I do not fit into the vast tapestry of your grand design.
This world, this test of existence, eludes me,
Leaving me adrift in its absurdity.
Chaos and suffering entwine,
Weaving a complex web that ensnares those within its grasp.
And yet, despite this darkness that enshrouds,
My love for you remains steadfast,
Clutched tightly in my trembling hands.
I extend my apology, baring my heart’s vulnerable core,
Yearning for you, God, to witness and share
In the weight of my burdens,
The profound depths of my pain.
In your infinite understanding,
May I find peace and love,
My spirit reaching towards
The solace of your compassionate embrace.
Dear God, let your smile grace my wearied countenance,
Illuminating the path as I traverse the trials of this desolate place.
In the twilight’s whispered prayer,
Within the sweet surrender to liquor’s embrace,
I seek but a fragment of peace,
A fleeting glimpse of your boundless grace.
Though I stumble and fall amidst this relentless test,
Let it be known that my love for you
Will forever find its resting place.
For I am naught but a human,
Flawed and fragile,
Yet in my unwavering devotion,
Let my spirit prevail,
Resolute in its pursuit
Of your eternal presence.

Blank verse
It's impossible to fly;
and yet, you kept on trying.
Of late, a tear in your eye
tells me you have been crying.
Time's stolen your youth; that's true,
but there's naught that I can do
that will ease that loss for you.
You once contemplated clouds;
were comfortable in crowds,
and never spoke of death shrouds.
Yet now, you gaze at the sky
and forgo dreams of flying;
the rudiments of wings woo
a spirit, sadness enshrouds.

Death is just the taking away
of the gross material that
enshrouds and hides
the life essence that is you,
setting you free from your
temporary cocoon that has become
your mortal prison.
In your freedom,
You will find there's no death.
Live your life fully with gladness.
Be aware of your awesomeness
and make a mark with your life.
Follow the path of righteousness.
Realise that you are nothing more
than a sojourner on earth.
Enter into each day with
joyful tenderness in your heart.
Take whatever comes to you,
either good or bad as it is
without much ado,
for they come to make up
the textures of your life.
Be strong and courageous
Remain calm in the face of adversities.
Be unshakable,
for all you encountered and achieved
is for a while and for a purpose,
to make your life a worthy one.
Do not for any reason cause anyone
to cry or suffer because of you.
Live wherever life places you in harmony
with those in your sphere knowing
you are there to serve.
Be aware of what will be a source of
your future annoyance,
and with wisdom deal with it
or completely avoid it.
Remember who you are always.
Do the right things.

The sultry jungle steams its vapid breath
Choking and drowning with humid hate
Life crawls and scurries struggling to and fro
A pyramid of roughly hewn green block rises
A stunning mountain out of place
Creeping vines grasp and control
Embracing greedily everything within reach
Serpents dance in the obscuring shadows
While human bones decay on piles of gold
Sacrifices to hungry elder gods
Feeding their ravenous needs
Imagined by fearful fools and priests
Etherial mist enshrouds minds
Looking into the starlit night
To find the piercing light of truth
Cold and alone, death goes unanswered

Prose
In Whispers of sweet praise of Summer’s lust
she blows a kiss across their reddened cheeks
cools down the heated tryst in hoar frost crust
lays hold with icy clutches slowing creeks.
For time is but a season changing clothes
unfeeling as its passion slow subsides
her lovers but the partners nature chose
share intimacies only she decides.
This sweet contented hue her sated fall
will fade to gray as lovers drift apart
no long goodbye, no bow, no curtain call
as emptiness enshrouds her frozen heart.
The ice will thaw, her dream of love subsist
on memories of spring’s forthcoming tryst.

Sonnet
Gathering my wits I did ask one day
Say Love, who are you and where from you hail?
Of all ideals yours seems the best way
yet finds you not across seas if we sail.
In the rise of the sun you will find me
In the serene quietude of the dusk,
In the flourish of the moon you'll find me
enticing as the aroma of musk.
Willy-nilly as the wind I wander
and as sprightly as the free roaming clouds,
Closer than your heartbeats yet far yonder
as the heavens with sanctitude enshrouds.
I befriend the meek and the innocent,
Seek me where trust and truth are imminent.
