Premium Member Too Square For Two

you ... are the paramour of right angles
the square of a square - complete, quite aware
how two must adore you
for all it sees is itself, reflected
an angular fist - quite the narcissist
and the first number, sublime, that is NOT a prime
you move with order ... perfection
enclosed, at the helm of a harmonious realm
antithesis of lucky clover, and balance of the cornered circuit
you are numbered of the elements - the seasons cycle your breath
and how would a deck of cards go out for a night on the town
without your fancy suits to wear ... debonair?
how lost the world would be without you
to show us direction - to section the areas of space ...
to sing to us in the voice of violins
to carry us safely to our joys, spinning beneath our seats
to give motion, food and escape to the creatures
features of the gospels and horsemen, dark
hark - even the chambers of the heart ...
thrum for your sake and coordination
you are safety and symmetry, precision and enclosure
e'en the wind knows your order and actuality, factually, see ...
is it any wonder, number ... that you are my favorite?
(when with your little sister, of course).

Premium Member The Last Dust

In open space free
Steel and glass enclosure
A small moving space confined
My possession of pride
Momentum propelled by young drive
A companion of trust.

The wingless bird
Tunneled timid air
Dust trailed the motion
Distance to sunrise horizon
Contracted like an accordion
Music under the bonnet.

Tread of twenty turning years
Took abrasive toll on patina of past
My adored Fiat Padmini senile
Rusted in immobile inertia
Old jalopy’s journey to junkyard
Raised the last dust
From the debris of my heart.

Premium Member I Accidentally Let One Loose

I accidentally let one loose -
I was tipsy and had no excuse
It happened at the rare breed’s zoo
When I decided to cuddle a cute kangaroo

As I crept into the fenced off enclosure
I struggled to maintain my composure
The joey leapt past me, I just couldn’t stop it
as it bounded away like a flaming rocket!

I tried to catch it by grabbing hold of its tail
but I slipped on a grape, and let out a loud wail
I could see the joey bounce away into the distance
It was clear I needed professional assistance

I got the attention of the kangaroo warden
She turned on me like a demented gorgon
and shouted at me, the air turned quite blue
as we both chased after that small kangaroo

The footloose joey demanded more intervention
His keeper spluttered words too rude to mention
The kangaroo bounced away at lightning speed
We needed to ensnare it, the keeper decreed

We were joined in the chase by the local vet
who used a long pole, on the end was a net
He managed to place it over the joey’s head
Soon joey was captured and locked in his shed

I tried to apologise until I was puce in the face
But they wouldn’t listen, said I was a disgrace
As a result of my action I’m banned from that zoo
I guess I won’t get to cuddle a baby kangaroo

I accidentally let one loose Contest

Premium Member Can I Crack Open a Walnut - For You

Like a lost firefly my mind strays
Concealed like a ripe walnut
My heart is shelled by enclosure

Waiting to be cracked open...
To be served on platinum trays
For whom ever needs some exposure

My donation of hope and faith...
Or perhaps you need just a little love
If you need some, it's yours to take...to pull

You may take as much as you need
I am serving plenty for all
Widen your fingers, grab a handful

My friend, what is mine is yours
My world just wouldn't be the same any other way
After all, is life really life...without love

Sharing and caring for one and for all
I'll be cracking open walnuts...
Until I'm way high...up above

Premium Member Maintain Your Integrity

Written: January 15, 2024
            _________________________________________

Fiction, factuality, and fetching flavors.
Tangible, practical, natural perspective.
Can a warm impression be desirable?
To witness connect, and wonder.
It's heartfelt but delusional.
delight, devotion, a warm imposter.
A genuine affection, a hope for deceit
A supposed desire to succeed.
To wish for sight, feel affection.
It's a dissatisfaction connection.
My priority is your well-being.

Dwelling in a rigid atmosphere.
It felt as if I didn't belong
I tried to fit in for years
within a mismatched enclosure.
Still, I sought their embrace and praise.
I struggled with their maze repeatedly.
regardless of my desire.
I didn't catch the dwelling I desired.
It glazed on me as I traveled.
Being treated simply as you are.

I had not loved or cared for myself.
Don't you recognize me starving?
I heard myself in that crucial insight stage.
I knew I ought to rewrite my story.
must abandon society's rigid rules.
Allow my authentic integrity to shine.
Adapting was challenging.
Toward self-love and pleasure.
I felt peaceful and the sky seemed vast.
I realized my genuine self deep inside.

I freed myself from worthless people.
Those who elect mask above birth.
They never fit my soul.
I had paid dearly for faking.
If you suspect anything is wrong.
Self-imposed turmoil has plagued you.
Relax and ignore others advice.
Self-acceptance is never late.
Convey your true radiance,
At its best—it's popular globally.

Premium Member Tribute To Harambe, the Gorilla

Harambe, living in captivity-
mock forest of the Cincinnati Zoo,
within our human world, well as can be,
beneath those peering eyes, that visit you.

And what bad fate for you when suddenly,
no fault of yours, a child falls in your space.
At first, you seemed to act quite caringly;
you held his hand and looked into his face.

But then the shrieks of humans made you wild
and frantic, as you soon became afraid.
You dragged him to and fro, that little child-
and chaos then ensued, decisions made.

If only they had found a simple way;
removed the crowd to hush upsetting screams,
perhaps your primate nature would then play
into a more protective stance, it seems.

Or maybe darted you to bring you down
and not forever, just a little while,
to rescue the small boy and take the crown
for saving both and ending with a smile.

Harambe, poor gorilla, your sad day,
to have them end your life for their neglect
of building an enclosure that some way
allowed a tiny child to fall direct.

Within your borrowed space of humankind,
where you knew not of freedom, nature's way,
you had to face your end, your days maligned
as a dark beast to pay the price that day.

Harambe, living in captivity,
mock forest of the Cincinnati Zoo,
not many of you left on Earth to see;
so sorry that this fate has come to you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harambe, the Gorilla: A three-year-old boy, with no one watching, was able to enter a Cincinnati Zoo gorilla's enclosure on May 28, 2016. After a 10-minute encounter, Cincinnati Zoo officials shot and killed the beloved 17-year old male western lowland silverback gorilla. At first, the gorilla, named Harambe, seemed like he was trying to help the boy, be more of a gentle giant, and protecting the child. But the screams and commotion of the crowd frightened him and he started dragging the little boy away from the sound of the crowd. There has been a lot of anger over the quick decision to kill him.

Harmony

Where are you, oh Harmony,
Daughter of Mars and daughter of
Venus?
Where shall I look for you?
In the enclosure of a serene
Harbor,
Or in the open tempestuous
Sea?
Under the bright sun of a Spring’s
Day,
Or beneath the dark sky of a stormy
Night?

The tormenting echo of your parents’
Struggle,
In my divided heart I constantly
Sense:
Fearing the one, loving the
Other.

Save me, oh divine Harmony, from
Anguish,
Come, beloved one, I beg
You!
Come, my bewildered soul to
Pacify!

Premium Member To the Rescue

Animals saving animals from death
As they step in to lend a helping "hand"
For creatures on the brink of their last breath
These acts of kindness are surely quite grand

A brown bear steps in, saves a drowning crow
Plucking it out the water with its paws
A deer is saved by a kindly hippo
Keeping it out of a crocodile's jaws

 A gorilla's quick actions saves a boy
Who, into its enclosure he had fell
Without the quick actions he did employ
The lad may not be here, the tale to tell

Into these acts of kindness our mind delves
But who saves humanity from themselves?

Premium Member Stillness of Winter

I went walking in the silent and stillness of winter,
     It had snowed softly on this cold, cold night;
Homes glowed from deep within and sparkled bright,
A lonely snowflake kisses my cheek like a feather.

Wandering deserted town streets a solitary walker,
     Park benches buried in the pure white snow;
Quietly an icy and frosty stream still ripples and flows,
And the shops are luminous in the town center.

At the church stained glass panes are welcoming,
     The pristine snow lay on the steps in tranquility;
I bow my head in prayer recalling memories of family,
Whispering snowflakes fall on my hair blowing.

Faint a sound from something left near the church,
     I approach the snow draped box, unsure;
And a mewing, mewing within the wet enclosure,
Then, a small forlorn white kitten lurched.

I cuddled the kitten in my arms brushing off each flake,
     A lonely girl and a lost kitten together this night;
While the snow was falling and falling in sheets of white,
Kissing her head, I named my kitten, Snowflake.

Enclosed Rhyme Example For Contest

Premium Member Mountaintop Lake

My dreary life shunned, a chance to escape;
atop glacial peak, glorious vision.
Oasis amongst the frigid landscape;
found sanctuary, almost Elysian.

Colorful fish dart, despite intrusion,
in clear blue water of idyllic lake.
Grand oaks' enclosure heightens seclusion,
if this be a dream, no wish to awake.

Surmount gnarly trunk, in bosom I nest,
relax for a spell, savour treetop view.
Ponder existence, I truly am blessed;
alas, paradise, soon time to eschew.

'fore starting descent, 'fore limbs are unfurled,
shut eyes and breathe deep, absorb nature's sounds.
This close to Heaven, at top of the world,
touch of Creator supremely resounds.

A universe jumbles unfinished in the mind
picture upon picture
a laconic dimension of perception
where comprehension hides in brambles
and rubbish churns like a river
emptying into the soul
the murky and the luminous converge
forming an enclosure of concentration
where nothing exists, except focus
time melts away...a word
then another, then another
like falling leaves washed by the wind
carried to the inner eye
read, questioned, reasoned, unleased
spread across a white sheet
where a sentence grows
giving purpose to lucidity
translated by each reader
in their fashion

Premium Member In Love With You, Lord

Being in love with You is my heart’s quest
to abide ceaselessly in Your presence
as You nurture me in Your caring breast
midst divine bliss of peace-iridescence.

In my relationship with You, trust reigns
sealed by Your covenant for faith’s fervor
indeed forgiven, and freed from guilt-strains
I now delight in Your gracious favor.

Kept secured in Your love’s sweet enclosure
enriched by Your partnership’s fulfillment
here am I, Your grateful precious treasure
abounding to share blessings’ endowment.

I do love You because You first loved* me
My LORD, make me what You want me to be.

*1John 4:19 We love him (LORD GOD), because he first loved us.

Premium Member Uncovered

I button up my cardigan
The weather's closing in.
I'm follically challenged,
not my hairline, but my skin..

As the clouds begin to gather
and wind whips up to boot..
I twist my collar skyward..
deploy my bumbershoot.

And so.. I hurry past you,
we nod but hardly share
the time of day and just pretend
there's no time left to care.

"Is there fear of being open?"
as enclosure keeps me safe,
Suddenly I'm conscious:
all
these
layers
start to chafe.

Old wounds that pierced my skin
don't need to hide away.
The strangest gift;
these scars;
require the light of day.

But what if..
Summer's sun is early?
A transformation starts..
We feel the authenticity
warming up our Wintery hearts?

For what we crave is
Love.
Acceptance, sister. Brother.
But first we have to open up..
be honest with another.

Feel the raindrops on our skin.
Unbutton the protection.
Release us to the elements of
humanity's affection.

For deep within us all
there's stuff we hide away..
Exposure to the open air
and brightness of the day..

..it might be when the healing starts.
Wind, sun, or snow or rain.
Outside it may be different.
But inside..
we're all the same.

Dreams In Her Eyes

She see's through daisies and succumbs to night things
Her heart keeps on breathing for pleasure in the evenings

She's wanting to see you at any time of day with eyes wide open
Even when she see's through an ivory of daisies amidst within

Her viewing embers are so well hidden, along with her knowledge
Are her own makings with in this fine enclosure of foliage

She's the epitome of a wonton beauty as you shall see
Oh how she does love you, while smells and is so free

She see's through daisies and succumbs to night things
Her heart keeps on breathing for pleasure in the evenings.

* In Greek Mythology, "Harmony" is the daughter of ARIS ( Mars) God of war and
Aphrodite, (Venus ) Godess of Love. The meaning of the word ARMONIA "Harmony" comes
from the Greek verb ARARISKO which means the unification of opposite forces in nature!
