Premium Member I Never Did Foresee When Young

At first, I wrote because I felt the need
to bare my soul in letters when away
from loved ones. Later, thoughts I had I freed
with words I used my best way to convey
emotions that I felt. Sometimes I’d write
short stories since I loved to read so much.
With drama many authors could ignite
enchantment in me with their magic touch.
Much later in my life, I took my pen
to paper, but THIS time - compelled to rhyme -
I felt new lyricism take me! Then
what had eluded me all my lifetime
revealed itself! I never did foresee
when young that one day I’d a poet be.

Premium Member Toms Travels

In a show of manic one-upmanship
With my wife saying, “Just get a grip.”
I planned an adventure to show I’m well travelled
The spoiler to that is the whole thing unravelled

I looked at the brochures and boy was I keen
Determined to find somewhere Tom hadn’t been
That man is a nomad, he never sits still
He just grabs a suitcase and travels at will

[At this point please lend me a bit of your time
for this advance warning of appalling rhyme]
My legs are so white that I ought to be sunning ’em
I’ll find somewhere warm that’s eluded Tom Cunningham

I made a quick sandwich with pickle from Branston
And then thought EUREKA…I’ll call Richard Branson
I sold a few organs and Gran’s silver spoon
And raised enough money to fly to the moon

He said he does orbits then back down to earth
A trip to the moon was more grief than it’s worth
I grabbed Branson’s beard and said “Listen to me,
you’re gonna help me outdo Mr C.”

Well, long story short, I arrived on old Luna
Tom might have planned it but I got there sooner
Then a little green man said, “Is Earth where you’re from?
When you get back home again… say ‘Hi’ to Tom.”

The Undyings' Curse

Deep in the earth, a crypt of rock
slumber guarded by casket locked
Lips grope silence ‘ever more
 rasping thought, remembers whispered lore
Outstretched palms the roots do clench
tranquility stilled by festered stench
And eyes, sleep caked, are propped ajar
ignites no life, but collapsed star

Burned blades sigh, Winds’ dying gasp
bones brittle snap within her clasp
A lonesome howl the moon does draw
vigil broken, it twists its maw
Upon an arena of endless stone
the granite gates they’ve passed alone
And entered a world of burning eyes
eluded the judge of smoldering cries

A faultless gait, no stumbled draw
a reaping brought by scythe and claw
Opal edge which shrouds a cause
aberrant blade shapes nature’s laws
Dictate a script, the stars can share
an open secret, a language bare
Steps continue, feet are drawn
across gray grass, undying pawn

Premium Member My Soul's Journey

A Spiritual Narrative

Love Is to be, or not to be, you see
The soul’s choice to be , is made freely
Love , the source, of course, of which souls partake
To be love, from above

You were created to be, not, not to be
Your being is precious, of one piece, will not cease
Please run in this race, keeping the pace
There is one in all, therein is gall

Best of all, there is no fall
One not mature, Oh dear, hath fear
Maturity excluded, love is eluded
Ah, but Love’s grace intervene, and I shall wean

From mother’s milk, to father’s meat,
Meanwhile, Love’s grace, shall take the heat
With my serpent mind beat, I shall retreat
Into whence I came, I’ll return again

Back into my sacred heart, is from where I start
To re connect, above, with love
And with my mind seeing, my being
The soul, I have made my goal

My soul recognizes it’s home, no more need to roam
For the mind illusion, was only outer intrusion,
Of a mind of fleshly strife, trying to create a life
Twas only a dilemma, of the mind, in structured time

In the temporal line, an immortal
Out of it’s portal, become mortal
Without it's connection, of love’s direction
But upon careful inspection, in love’s direction

The narrow way, comes into play
Though few there be that find, for eye of the mind,
Is so very blind, a need of love to be re-align
To a sign, of truth, the mind aloof, will always goof

A soul that has found it’s heart, has found it’s start
So very smart, Love’s booth is it’s cart
Once found from, will never again depart
For I am love, as a dove, spewed within from above

The dove above, is my Father Love,
And I am being of plenty, for I am Love’s entity!!!

Premium Member My Name

She smiles and my name is said with such unbound glee.
Though not the one I was born with, this one that holds more meaning.

Alike her brother too will call it though in harmonized repeat like waves in slow repetition. As his bare feet slap surface and he approaches.

The understanding of it's meaning escapes me for the moment, though my heart knows it's significants, my mind can't wrap around it.

They hold the key to my day and in their actions can build me up or break me. But when happy I too am happy, the world's a warmer place.

In thought alone, I then reflect on my comings and my goings. My name is mentioned in parting sorrow and in joyful arrival.

My name eluded then, bright illuminated now. I know my greater purpose. To teach them of moral and respect, to teach of right and wrong.

My goal is to teach them to love, as another FATHER shows me. Though I may often falter, I am my children's "Daddy" as they so heartwarmingly remind me.

The Season Inside

Its beauty yet again plunders me,
Into magnificent realms that hide
Deep within my every thought
Where I ,like a new tenant,
Seek comfort to reside
In the warm abodes of Winter.

It has come yet again
With its white painted sky
Like a dripping white towel
Whose waters slowly subside
Like a pain that has been eluded,
Avoided, denied

Its gusts that blow across
The many prolonging miles
Bringing all windows to shudder
Like lost whispers and voices
Found and compiled
Into a vague resonance.

Its unmelted snow
That at every corner lies
Lingering for the tepid
Sun of Spring to rise
To melt away
Like an unwanted memory.

And all that it holds
Is but a fraction that glides
Within,
A sheer reflection of the world
Outside
The snow, wind and rain of
The season inside

Premium Member Invocation

Bowing head she begins, petitioning assistance, pleading earnestly:

“Forgive me lord, these feelings you inspire have long eluded me,
A stranger in your throne of divinity, I am distressed as can be
Regretful of bygones, replete in misery of blight-ridden streets
Where remnants of my foolish deeds lie dismantled and deplete
Near a battered graveyard, where in repose lies my father’s body,

Sorrowed I stood there, stilled as stone, grieving night all alone
Longing for his forgiveness for things I should have said and done
Choosing instead to be wild and undone, not caring for anyone,
In company of clueless friends where covenants of life I misread
Pretending to celebrate happiness in bonfires of souls wretched;

Sitting on this pew now, guided by invisible hand, I feel glow of light
Going back to my youth, recalling your halo on candles of delight
As feeble beats of my unborn child echo solemn words of prayer
Heartened by your revelations, while unconditional love I declare,

In repentance of contrite past, paying homage to a sanguine start
Gratified you blessed my child, donning enlightenment I’ll depart
In atonement you impart, humming your song in my grateful heart.”

And she steps out into the night crooning lullaby to her beloved child,
A single mother pledging to revise pages of fate in epistle of destiny
Promising to unshroud yesteryear’s dawns in tomorrow’s sunshine,
Vowing to guard her unborn from flawed paradigms, vagaries of time
Poised to defy malevolence in sacred pact with benevolence of life.

Premium Member Hot Pants

can you imagine my disappointment...I believed her
...she might of been the one...that one woman
that has eluded me my whole lifetime...but...
...she...she was...

she was just blowing smoke up my ass...

story of my life...it's just never right...so many frauds...
but her....well her I trusted...I was willing to try...but
well she did me wrong...

she did well with the Vaseline...
lubricated my ass clean...
but when she shoved
that PVC up my bum...
well...that I liked!

the smoke?
that was the problem it was too hot,
your suppose to let it cool...
she let it go when it was
still hotter than burning coals...

all my friends...well now they call me hot pants...
it's not funny...I had severe...burns to my hole...
every time I have to go...you can hear
me yelling...feels like the pipe in reverse,
exiting instead of entering...it burns...
it bleeds...

but what hurts the most...

what really upsets me...

...as long as I live I will never...

what hurts the most,

...she won't take my calls...

my ass has healed
and I'd like to see her again...
give the pipe another shot...

she said she liked me...
called me good looking, vibrant,
kind, generous, intelligent ,
witty...but she didn't mean it,

I guess...

she was just blowing smoke up my ass...

...yes please!

Premium Member A Blue Moon New Year's Eve

Finally prepared for bed and noticing
the year was now precisely 2 hours and 30 minutes old,
there occurred to me a thing that I’d forgot.
I hadn’t gone outside
to see the talked-about Blue Moon.
With bare feet, I stepped onto the icy floor boards of our deck,
        quickly took a peek,
but could not spy the moon!

Scrambling to the front (this time in shoes),
I stood out by the sidewalk and
let my senses take in what I saw. . .
banks of crisp new snow around me;
some houses down the street still glittering
                      with multi-colored strands of season’s cheer;
in front of me, familiar mountain slopes
                       that seemingly loomed closer
in the stillness of this night.
It seemed as if the sky, a hazy blue,
had taken in the soft white of the snow,
reflecting back to me a picture-perfect moment
                of a most wondrous dream-like winter’s eve.

I scanned the sky once more,
then turned and walked back to my porch.
not too disappointed that
               the moon I’d sought
                                              had eluded me.

Unexpected Angel

Many tears have been shed for what no longer is.
The heart that lost all hope was left for the scavengers…
Scavengers that would physically take advantage of him,
But with his verbal consent.

His heart was dying… with nobody to heal it.
Many women had the chance to have him,
But something would keep him away from the true threats.
Some may say fate, while others would say God… But I say thank you.

Thank you for saving me from countless destructive paths.
Thank you for keeping me slightly sane.
Thank you for giving me exactly what I needed.
Thank you for showing her to me.

Her name eluded me for a time period,
But now rings out like that of an angel’s.
She came and put her arm around me…
Wiped my face clean of tears.

She gives me love like no other,
Even though I don’t see why.
She makes me believe her heart is mine,
While in reality, my heart is hers.

She will never admit what she truly deserves,
Only desire the happiness for whom she loves.
Always ready to sacrifice her heart for his…
While all he wants is her heart.

The passage of time makes their future uncertain.
Will they be walking down an isle together
Or just in a park as friends?
Will they share a bed in love or in playful fun?

None of this is yet known…
Both have their desires, hopes and dreams
But with all of this, one thing is certain.
Teddie, I love you always and forever you will be with me.

My Fantasy 3

I plan to end the fantasy mystery in this part
And hopefully end up capturing her heart

I guess I’ve withheld her name for far too long
This unnecessary suspense is just wrong

So finally I made that move that has long eluded me
A smile lit her face -- and it was clear for me to see…

She had been expecting this move for a very long time
But my cowardice had prevented me from singing my favourite rhyme

A rhyme that every woman loved and appreciated
Thank God now am getting slowly acquainted

And who knows she may just be the one I might take to the altar
And then I can reflect and confidently say – I have come really far

Unfortunately I can’t tell you her name
But maybe I will – after her wild beauty I have managed to tame…

Premium Member Sometimes the Devil Does-

Sometime the devil is talking but you don't have to listen
sometime the devil is talking but you don't have to listen
sometime the devil is talking but you don't have to listen
Whoa to that's still small voice sounds good but it's not pristine it has no rhythm
It sounds good but it's not true because it reeks division

Sometimes the devil walks and he's right beside you
Sometime the devil walks and he's right there beside you
Sometime the devil walks in your feet hurt because you're wearing his shoes
Sometime the devil walks and your feet hurts because he's trying to get in you

Sometimes the devil smiles because he's beautiful
Sometime the devil laughs his eyes smile because he's eluded you
Sometime the devil smiles because he spoke death and division in his wilds
Sometime the devil wants to trick you because that's just what he do (child)

Sometime the devil is talking but you don't have to listen
sometime the devil is talking but you don't have to listen
sometime the devil is talking but you don't have to listen
Woo Whoa!! that's still small voice sounds good but it's not pristine
it has no rhythm
It sounds good but it's not true because it reeks division

So now going forward if it don't line up with God and it's spoken if it sounds sweet to eat I won't chew it
If it feels good I won't do it
If it causes division and shame I won't go through it
If I walk and hurt my feet allow my Jesus to carry me through
Not going to listen to that voice I'm going to favor God's choice
Everything to smiles is not of God for I am his child and I choose to listen to walk to smile and laugh in the glory of my Father God

Sometimes the devil just do
But you don't have to listen
You don't have to walk with him
You don't have to look at his smile
You are not his you are a Child of God, a Child of God, a Child of God
You are GOD CHILD

They lurk about
Think no one sees
They stalk believing
No one knows
They’re there
Hushed implicit
In the night
Slithering about
Disguised
Concealed
Dodged
Eluded
Getting off
On being ignored
The dark shadows
Lurking in the night

Death's Messengers

Death's Messengers
by Rick Rucker

Death's messengers came for me today,
I eluded them, though, I crawled away.

Seeing just the smallest chance,
I sneaked into an ambulance.

I thought that it would surely fail,
That I'd soon be cold, and pale.

Noting that my blood did leak,
My future prospects seemed rather bleak.

One second, an iron horse riding,
And the next, my suit of leather sliding,

Down the road, at times bouncing,
My feeling of luck taking a trouncing.

I couldn't speak, my breath was leaving,
I knew my wife would soon be grieving,

I thought myself quite brave,
But I heard a medic say “Grave,”

Where I knew I soon would be,
On a hill, under a tree,

Thinking about the riding fraternity,
A biker through eternity.

Suddenly I felt a pain,
A searing blue flash went 'cross my brain,

Something just wasn't right,
Don't people say to “Go to the light?”

The only light that I could see,
Was red, and on a CHP,

Cruiser that was straight ahead,
Probably thinking I was dead.

Could it be that I would live?
How much fluid can one give,

And unfailingly survive,
Or , possibly even thrive?

I had to get into a hospital bed,
Before “THEY” knew I wasn't dead!

How fast can a medic go by rights?
Use the siren and the lights!

I wasn't feeling too nice,
But we got there, in a thrice.

Many doctors rushed me in,
Just one pain, from toes to chin.

To ease it, they gave me juice,
Soon, I began to feel quite loose.

Knowing that this dulled pain's talon,
I asked, “Could I take some home, a gallon?”

Seeing me under the weather,
The doctors all gathered together.

Discussing all the effects most tragic,
The witch doctors began to work their magic.

Soon enough, I knew I'd live,
I thought to take the time to give,

To The One that let me stay,
Above the ground another day!

I don't think about it much,
There's little pain to the touch.

The only legacy I carry,
Past cemeteries I do not tarry,

I haul as fast as I can go,
If I go a little too slow,

Death's messengers might see,
The one that got away-that's me!

Premium Member Death of a Poet

“When the pen falls silent that once danced to the muse’s command and when the poet’s heart no longer beats with rhyme, we realize that the poet in us is dead. It is a sad truth difficult to reckon.” ~ By Poet

Far from the din of madding crowd,
And away from the bustle of city streets,
I withdrew into a solitary spot,
To turn my thoughts into dazzling verse.

Shelley and Shakespeare came in view,
Emily and Eliot fell in line,
Their verse ringing loud and clear,
Their energy fanning fire within

I dreamt of putting proper words,
To clothe my thoughts in striking notes,
Longed to pour my loaded heart,
In powerful verse to move the hearts

But as I started scrawling down,
All that I had stored in hoards –
Ebbed out into mere froth and foam,
Leaving bits of broken thoughts

I sallied out for a stunning theme,
And stroked my pen to put it down,
But topics eluded me one by one,
Unable to decide on what to dwell,

I rummaged my memory for apt words,
And dallied round with lofty themes
Yet nothing other than splintered thoughts,
And hackneyed phrases came alive.

I strained hard to give them life,
And labored in vain to make them rhyme,
‘The Blazing Sun’ and ‘the Brilliant Star’,
Both faded out with no trace of glow.

I envisioned before me the Sacred Mount,
To drink from the fountain gushing down,
But hot lava spurted out,
And the wings of fancy burnt outright!

No Muse appeared to enliven me,
Nor my fantasy lingered long,
The words that once flowed like honey
Dried up with no inspiration, coming to nourish.

Staring blank into the scroll in front,
Unable to scribble even a moving thought,
Like a soldier vanquished in war,
I put away my paper and pen.

I greatly lament the death of the poet in me,
And wonder if ever will have a rebirth!
