Premium Member Metaphorical Daggers

Paroxysm of pain inflicts this pen,
tears cry poetic allusion.
When petal hearts are misunderstood,
life is full of confusion.

Distasteful thoughts set camp in my mind,
an unwelcome intrusion.
Virgin pages innocent in white,
yearn to wear this mind's effusion.

Too many deep unanswered questions,
lead to a false conclusion.
When judgement lacks honest intellect,
darkness defeats diffusion.

Sun is cautious to cast my shadow,
intolerant in inclusion.
Forever immersed in freezing rain,
victim to their collusion.

When metaphorical daggers scar,
they say it's an illusion.
Melancholic lacerations scream,
ignored by deaf delusion.

I'm bleeding, but you ignore this blood,
it's too late for a transfusion.
Silently sad soul seeks solitude,
far from sound in seclusion.

The River

The River

The river sings its sweet lament
in ancient voice softly lowing,
vibrant melodies subtly meant
to plumb the depths of our knowing.

Around each bend it curves, flowing
onward toward its fated reunion
with unkempt sea, wild and blowing;
embracing briney communion.

Its serpentine course scars the land
in undulant brown profusion;
shimmering gold in twilight's hand,
a gift of nature's effusion.

Pregnant spring plies it, unleashing
tempest's turgid downpour to slake
the lusty spate's thirst unceasing,
leaving ravaged marl in its wake.

Torrid summer's breath chars the soil
and saps the river of its strength,
but cool and sweet, the river's toil
paints a green ribbon down its length.

Demon winter glazes the earth,
garbs the river in frigid gown,
draws a pane of ice over its girth
but fails to stay its flowing down.

Since time out of mind, the river
has carved canyons from stubborn stone
and sought naught but to deliver
its lifeblood back to heaven's home.

Plastic Siblings

Genial to avoid confrontation
Baseborn kind, complaisant character
A spurious recital, a cheap imitation
Apocryphal mind, and comical creations
Counterfeited Christ
An unholy effusion
Sons of Belial
Clutch arcane knowledge
Esoteric information

Delve into oracular verse.
Deadened faith
Recondite belief denuded denials
Portentous and abstruse
Divested of the truth
Desolate road
Traveled day after day
Seriatim in miles
Strangled in hyperbole
Hypothetical noose

Cheaply loose
Tightening
methodically

Suicidal salvation
Covertly clandestine
Do what art wilt
Deliver the chosen
indoctrinate guilt
Derision to the destined
To learn love over hate
Adoration to inculcate
Imbue their sick lessons.

The French expression is exquisite,
fat succulent globes glowing darkly,
but if you're looking for length look
to the East, although they lack girth.
Yet the Greeks do it best
sleek glossy orbs, rubbed with
olive oil then laid in their bed and
immersed in an effusion of
ripe succulent Roma slowly
simmered with garlic, oregano
and perhaps a few chilies, if you like it
hot and then covered with a thick
white sauce béchamel and lasciviously
savoured with a mature rich red.

Light's Effusion

Light splashes my eyes as the moon seems to sense
I’m here. Effusion shows me its suspense
And its divine effect on me. Is my love seeing it too,
As it grips us, traps us, deep in effervescent blue?
When I think of Hanukah, and all it means to me.
Eventually I’ll realize my inner dreams. Will he?

On Praising Ladies on their Qualities in the THIRUK-KURAL: Canto 112, Nalam Punainthu Uraiththal, K1114 and K1120

[Please see "introduction on the plight of young girls" in the previous post on this Canto 112: K1111 and K1113, and please note that they were (and are still from all accounts though less frequently) given in marriage by parents who pay DOWRY in the form of cash and property to the bridegroom, despite the fact that the law frowns on such practices since Independence.]

K1114: kaanin kuvalai kavilnthu nilan nOkkum
               maanilai kanovvEm enru

The lotus*, seeing her, with head demiss, the ground would eye,
And say: ' With eyes of her, rich gems who wears, we cannot vie.' (Transl. G.U. Pope)
If the blue lotus* could see, it would stoop and look at the ground saying, 'I can never resemble the eyes of this excellent jewelled one.' (Transl Drew & Lazarus)

Should the water-lily* be confronted by the resplendent gem-decked maiden, it would droop down, eyes downcast, thinking the comparison futile. (Transl. T. Wignesan)

K1120: anichcham* annaththin thuuviyam* maathar
             adikku neruñchip* palam

The flower of the sensitive plant, and the down of the swan's white breast,
As the thorn are harsh, by the delicate feet of this maiden pressed. (Transl. G.U. Pope)
The anichcham and the feathers of the swan are to the feet of females, like the fruit of the (thorny) Nerunji*. (Transl. Drew & Lazarus)

(Such the beauteous form of the maiden) that even the anichcham* and the swan's downy fur* are but caltrope thistle* thorns pressed on her feet. (Transl. T. Wignesan)
[* Here the use of imagery drawn from nature (flower, bird, plant, fruit), supposed to be ethereally delicate evoke poetic effusion (to the Tamils of yore), offset by their relegation to thorns by comparison to the maiden's feet.] T. Wignesan

Under the Moon and Stars

Camping in a beautiful green glade on a warm June night the darkness was total,
Every place and scene on this still and thoughtful night unlocked it's essence,
Every spot has its own sentiment and each one with a rich and peculiar perfume,
The leafy scent of trees the smell of forest turf an earthy odor deep and rich.

Caught on a light breeze was the fragrant breath of sweetbrier natures perfume,
We had the delicious effusion from a clover or bean-field a lingering fragrance,
At our canvas tent we had the warm rich smell of peat on a red glowing wood fire,
A smell that tells you that it is the end of the day so just rest, talk and enjoy,

We could hear crickets that singing in the hedge surrounding the dark leafy glade,
A night thrush in an old elm that over canopies our tent, silhouetted by the moon,
There is a balmy softness in the air and the other trees stand in shadowy masses,
These shadowy masses seem to listen to the still and musing black skies above them.

Near is a soft gloom beneath umbrageous hedges, how soft, beautiful is a June night,
What can equal this pleasant feeling in this dark camp the smell of burning meths's,
The moon beams down like a celestial creature the evening stars burns with radiance,
As I lay in my sleeping bag and shut my weary old eyes this moment will last forever.

They Say In Heaven Love Comes First

A bouquet in chocolate covered, rose made words....
Delivered the ballast their coronet and love's, communion
Anise her chatelaine esoteric, epitaphs ? Andromeda, gypsy moths
Metamorphe this curtain of night as she an effusion sub rosa: time's talisman
Archaic play'mates a covenant prolific cherubs,

                                                                                              ...."In Progress." *:*(*

Tender Mercies

TENDER MERCIES

Tender mercies on us shower
From The Supreme ’s sacred tower
Hungry get a sumptuous meal
Angry get a soothing heal
Barren blessed with lovely child
Lost absolved from scary wild
True confession granted pardon
Buds fresh bloom in wilted garden
Homeless get a safe shelter
A fireplace in chilling winter
Drowning rescued in someone’s guise
Distraught guided through friend wise
Marital bliss, trustworthy mate for lonely
Door opens for one who knocks sincerely
His love and grace for us is in profusion
Counting blessings lets submit grateful effusion

Premium Member What I'D Like To Give You Is An Ounce of My Perfume

fragrance of yesteryears distilled from heartache and joy

mixture of entropy and cohesion scented in hopeful aroma

	sweat from wanderlust of adventure

	tears from emotional advancement

blood of hard work’s injuries over time

fears contained and turned into vigour

petals ground into an effusion of love

a medley of rose-tinted lenses and reality’s patched spectacles

a truth serum of honesty kindness and unshakeable compassion

the knowledge that one’s perfume blends with compatible skin

smell of freedom to mind our souls

salve to soothe blisters and calluses

tincture of longing and tangible peace

composure of hard-won harmony at last

array of butterflies collecting honey dew

just like myself you had to endure the stench of past injustice

tribulations trials errors betrayal and displeasure of suffering

have been hurt by flavoured malodour of other’s transgressions

had the dubious benefit of having to turn up your nose to escape

stink fetour and mere existence in order to synthesize essence

balance of reason and heartfelt emotions

waiting for yin yang seeking a perfect fit

a mate best friend mirror spouse and lover

in sack cloth silk linen and satin sheets in a

bodouir graced by passion and pheromones

kisses of sweet pleasure rapture and satisfaction climax together

wet lips follow the path of mountains rivers splash and nurture

fan the flames in which fireside ashes mix with ember and warmth

in candour I have no magic potion until our perfumes merge into one

Round and Round

Funny how all these branching roads
so frequently turn into circles.

Before, I dreamed of adventure.
I dreamed of service, of travel,
of the unknown; of things
few others get to claim.

And now that such are mine,
or elsewise in easy reach,
I find the impending voyage home
more than luxurious, more than exquisite;
I just want this road to circle there
for longer than this brief visit -
but ever will it lead on.

Before, I made my way
by the touch of my muse,
the caress of the wind,
arms of the rain and light of the moon.

For months I was grounded,
viciously, to reality; forced to walk
amid an effusion of sweat, pain, and pride.
And now that those two worlds
have finally met,
I'm gradually circling back
to the more ephemeral world of yesteryear.

Before, I yearned for love -
longed for the sweet embrace
of one desired and devoted;
one to walk with, truly akin by the heart.

Now, 'tis much the same -
'twas put on pause for a time,
and I can't speak with certainty
on whether I was closer then, or now.
But after that hiatus from the heart,
I've quickly made my way 'round,
to dreams of a woman who laughs and dances in the rain.

You watch yourself move on,
change a little.
You look in the rear-view mirror
as you drive these dark, foggy roads -
you watch growth and tremors
in your reflection in the pond,
and see the past in the future.

The circle of life isn't simply
a song, an idea -
'tis a sight that unfolds before every eye,
if one cares enough to watch.

Waterfall

Like a cloudburst,
a flux of cascading water,
a critical current,
a deluge,
like an effusion of bodily fluid,
but somewhat through the whooshing sound,
sends soothing, blissful thought's to ones brain,
the pounding of the deep blue water,
one feels less anxious here on after.

Feng Shui-Ed

At an airport garden in Hong Kong
I sit and refresh my traveling spirit
amidst an effusion of lucky bamboo
Crepe white and fuchsia orchids
coyly fan their geisha faces

The Morning Sun, at first a pale opal ember
climbing over slumbering, stone-washed
mountains

Roars into brilliance
like a golden Peacock Dragon
strutting through China blue skies

I smile inwardly....
let the moment sweep me off my feet
Breathe in......
colors, sights, sounds
gifts....fullness

Premium Member I Dwell In Halo Clouds

I choose to dwell in frothy clouds…
with a mindset unfixed
Random instincts spaced out
In the cumulus mix
An expansive effusion
Far out and beyond my temporal shackles
Free are my thoughts without prompt
Closed minds shallow and
desolate debacles
dissipate in this airy romp

On wispy clouds I dwell in…
high above I’ve risen
Here no need to reason
nor the blends of interpretation
Far away, so far from you, ascended
From the fiery pit below
which awaits my return
Where blazing saddles shame my name
where gross gossip lives and
bloody rumors stain,
Ablaze are the blame games

I dwell in cirrus pillows…
The scoped hemispheric
veils, bands and billows
Musings— using me

I chose to dwell in halo clouds
My mind with no refrains
Nothing to lose nothing to gain
A spirit free from hate
Soley my mind
Opens heaven’s gate
