Best Durable Poems

Maggie

She isn't beautiful as Nefertiti was.

And unlike Helen,

her face will never launch a thousand ships.

My Maggie's beauty is more open, than entrancing

more welcoming, than enthralling,

more giving, than demanding,

more durable, than perfect.

Perfection inspires no passion,

no lust.

Nefertiti over Maggie?

Maggie, with her woman's body?

Maggie, with flesh where woman should have flesh?

Maggie, with fullness where love and longing

would suffer nothing else?

Yet she strews a careless beauty all about her,

the tender beauty in her gaze

that holds and softens and moulds

a better man within me

than the one that she first knew,

and the bold, brave beauty of her crooked smile,

her smile that tells me who she is,

and who she does not care to be.

Her smile may never softly kill a single soul

but it warms me, softly warms me

as I hold her spent and gentle body close to mine

it warms me to dream dreams beyond my worth

and aspire beyond my dreams.

Hurry, hurry we are burning daylight,
      The flowers are wilting;
Mother was planting a cottage garden,
And we needed the right perennials;
Flowers durable, enduring, perpetual,
      Oh sweet dreams of flowers;
This was a journey I shared with mother,
      Daylight pours into this memory;
          That I recall vividly.

Fragrant burning daylight day lilies,
      Flowing emerald leaves;
Intense beautiful orange-yellow colors,
Trumpet shaped delicate soft blooms;
We set them in a sheltered location,
      So attractive in the shade;
They also thrive in fields growing wild,
     After mother died I took some;
          Placing them at her tomb.

Darkness turns to daylight as I recall,
      Mother's cottage garden;
Some tell me that I must let it go,
That all the time I spend grieving;
The less time I spend living my life,
      But how dear to me the memory;
Of me and mother in her garden,
      Planting burning daylight day lilies;
          With petals that sleep.

Look At Me

~Look At Me~
Look at me,I will wait until you can overcome your shyness,
I will wait until you become positive.
Look at me,I will wait until you overcome your touchiness,
I will wait until you become fearless.
Look at me,I will wait until you overcome your stiffness,
I will wait until you become loving.
Look at me,I will wait until you overcome your emptiness,
I will wait until you become blameless.
Look at me,I will wait until you overcome your nervousness,
I will wait until you become indispensable for me.
                               ~I Will Not Wait~
Look at me,I will not wait because I felt you have a captivating
charm hidden under what you show as your authority.
I will not wait,because I am eager to become part of your life,
you gave me the impression that you have a gift of making me
feel imperishable.
I will not wait,because you are generous with your time and friendship,
you are generous with your love so it becomes durable and loyal.
I will not wait,because you gave me the impression that your enormous
sensitivity becomes your enormous strength to achieve your goals,and
help your partner during a lifetime.
I will not wait,because you gave me the impression that you bring
strength and intensity to your surroundings,you encourage your spirit
& soul to remain persistent and ambitious.
I will not wait,because you gave me the impression you are so powerful
and tenacious,nothing will stand in your way until you reach your
goals, as you do not like to be a failure.
I will not wait,because you gave me the impression that you can love me,
I will wait no more to manifest my love towards you beyond belief,
its unavoidable,its powerful,it needs no introduction anymore as my love
is instantaneous,endless,may I become your lover tonight. WOW,Yes.

Premium Member Grass

With the changing seasons,
I’m the deepest green, sometimes dry and brown
I ‘m tall and wave when the wind blows
Or sometimes short when I am freshly mown.

I’m like a green thick lush blanket
Sometimes used in sports fields
For golf, football or cricket, baseball and softball
I am very durable with contact play.

Warmed by nascent sun gentle rays
They walk on my uniform soft blades
With confidence, giving-way under their feet
Sometimes I’m damp and cool.

If, I’m brown and dry stubble
A crunch beneath their feet you will hear.
I reclaim the earth and thrive.
My shoots stand tall to reach the sky.

I so enjoy the brightness of the day
And cool air after fresh rain-shower.
I shelter earth and insects and what matters
And maybe a dandelion or two in the spring.

Premium Member Smarty Pants Poem Number Two

Thought it would be fun to write a cute little Smarty Pants poem.
I was crazy with excitement about it, laughing with happiness gore.
I was so happy about the idea, I figured it had been done before.

So I typed in Smarty Pants poem into my Google search engine, on a loop.
Out of all my ideas, I thought this one made the most sense, not a bloop.
It had a whole bunch of links. The first three brought me to Poetry Soup.

I had to laugh at that. I should not have been surprised one little bit.
Of course at least one of my pals on this site would have already thought of it.
Smarty Pants on the ceiling, smarty pants in my tea throwing a great big fit.

Smarty pants in the kitchen, chasing Sylvester, my orange and yellow cat.
Smarty pants on the baseball diamond, throwing down the big wooden bat.
Smarty pants spinning pottery, on a kiln, sitting on a durable mat.
Of course Poetry Soup already had a Smarty Pants poem, imagine that!

Premium Member Your Special Heart

One ventricle inside your heart have you
while everybody else I know has two!
It causes you to suffer; this I know.
Yet here you are surviving. In fact, you glow!

Your heart, although not perfect physically
is twice as durable spiritually,
for love to others gracefully do you impart
so well, dear Chantelle, with your special heart

Oh, Trust,

You are the blessed cornerstone of every
Relationship.

You are the durable rock of
Dependence.

You are the unshakable groundwork
Of reliance.

For that reason

Only upon your unyielding foundations we
Should build any edifice:
Of care
Of partnership
Of friendship, and
Of love,

So as

No earthquake of doubt,
No storm of distrust,
No thunderbolt of suspicion-

No matter how powerful they might be-

Would ever succeed in reducing it,
To RUINS!

Premium Member Final Arrangements

Fate someday will determine when our days are concluded,
And those who think otherwise are sadly deluded!
Plans were made to ease my crossing with little compunction,
When I shed these earthly shackles and cease to function!

Since I like things in proper trim, regular and complete,
Plans were made in great detail to impress Old Saint Pete!
I'll enjoy a lovely mountain view from my sepulcher space.
Even a headstone with an epitaph is already set in place!

Arrangements compel me to be laid out in a slumber room,
Amid a forest of flowers that will currently be in bloom.
I wanted to be displayed in my jeans, they don't look so bad.
My spouse said, "No, I'd die of embarrassment if you were so clad!"

The funeral guy showed his caskets, each the top of the line.
I said, "Hold on there! I'd rather repose in a simple box of pine!"
"But sir" said he, "these are made with the most durable metal,
And will see you thro' your eternal bourne in very fine fettle!"

The salesman conducted the transaction with consummate skill,
But I almost died on the spot when he presented the bill!
I'd much rather have spent those bucks on an earth-bound fling!
Folks, if I could, I would just as soon forget the whole blamed thing!

PRAISE BE TO GOD FOR ANSWERING US
IN THE JOY OF HIS HEART

Praise be to God for answering us
in the joy of His heart with His:
Presence for our rejoicing
Promises along our restoration
Providence over our redemption
Protection around our regeneration
Preservation toward our ready revival

Ecclesiastes 6:2 Praise be to the Lord for
granting us power to:
Eat delicious food
Esteem durable faith
Enjoy delightful feasts
Extend directed freedom
Earn desirable fruitfulness
Enrich in dutiful faithfulness
Experience distinct fulfillment

Ecclesiastes 7:13 Praise be to the Saviour for
letting us consider His works so:
Wonderful according to His Word
Welfare-wrought by His wisdom
Weighty along His wealthiness
Winsome in our weakness
Worthy with His ways

Ecclesiastes 8:2 Praise be to the Almighty for

Calling us to trust Him completely
Charging us to cling to Him ceaselessly
Cleansing us for our consecration continually

The Master Carpenters Tree

The impressive mighty trees
Are birthed from such small seed
Drawing resilience from the sun
And earth’s fertile garden bed

Trees wooden trunk has shaped
And sustained for centuries many in varied ways
Some over and upon oceans wide
Where waves stroke shapely hulls
And lull to sleep the hapless venturer
Trusting in woods durable strength and buoyancy

And from such crafted boughs
And whispered sounds
Her meekness and strength is seen and heard
Like the creaks of grandma’s rocking chair
Where the hapless wanderer was first rocked to sleep

Trees have cradled and rocked in their arms
High and low of this world
The greatest of these was in a lowly manger
In an animals crib
But for this one tree its destiny was marked
Chosen before time

For on this tree’s wooden shoulders
It bore God’s greatest gift–
A Holy Child born - Like it-
For one purpose only –
To become accursed - on its wooden cross
To bear the sins of All
The Holy Son then rose - triumphantly from earth’s fertile soil

Into His Father’s arms

My Father and a Ray of Hope

With a huge geometry of bones and ribs
my father stands amidst us,
like an age-old iron pillar,
high durable, tensile and unbrittle
he is, the lonesome cantilever.

Though I know not,
perhaps he could be in immense pain,
or suffering from his terrible wounds;
but neither I feel nor touch
as I fear;
may be I his last crutch
or be the solve of sandal paste
on this body for ever.

Though I know nothing,
perhaps, for the sake of ‘oil and salt’ world;
he’d be even ready
to sleep on the bed of thousand arrows
and at the same time
he hides every sensitive worldly elements
within him, as far as
a star fish does every time
when it comes across a danger.

And always, I cannot move over
to his world of desires,
it’s the same show
the same grief
day after day.

The foot prints of his journey through life
are not lost in the sand storms of poverty
and in my mind as well.
Like the third bank of ever flowing river
Like a lonely Oar of way lost solitary boat
Like a distant star in the dark sky
Like a defiant soldier in battlefield
My father-
with dry tears and black blood
in his toil and lethal hands
continues his combat fight
against treacherous time
and treadle fate.

And with a twingle of hope against hope,
I feel every odds of life
and promise to myself a thousand times
‘I can be a nearby dawn
to remove the everlasting dark night’,
as  my thoughts don’t go
with the distanced sun.
