“O commercialized corporate franchise”
Thou that holds illusions in selling lies
Max out your credit cards
Lenders be holder’s lords
Forfeiting all bank notes as owner cries
“O commercialized corporate franchise”
My babies wonder about Christmas guys
My babies’ futures be scared
Must obey corporate lords
“O thou commercialized corporate lies”
Just commercialized greedy Xmas rush
Souls like zombies of the corporate thrust
The X of the Christ
O Love’s sacrifice
“In commercialized corporate we trust”

SERENDIPITY
commercialized like dippity-do
— the extra hold hair gel.
sounds like supercalifragilisticexpialidocious*
so fresh; and clean —
a nonsense word used
when you have nothing else to say.
and let’s not forget serenity now**
yelled uncontrollably
when you need to calm down.
one more, s’il vous plaîs:***
serene, dip, dippity-doo-da-yay!
s-e-r-e-n-d-i-p-i-t-y
yes, i love to play with you
my loquacious love.
defined as: (remember to say it fast and pedantically)
the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable
(take a breath) or agreeable things not sought for****
i close my eyes in a honeysuckle fog.
the scent surprises me, dabs on my pulse points.
!!!!!!!!
i open my lids, and a friend,
i haven’t seen in eons, says hello.
!!!!!!!!!
my husband twirls me about
“serendipity” he says as he whisks me away to Paris.
!!!!!!!!!!
thus, i shall place my favorite word
in your hand like a flutterby,
i mean, of course, a butterfly —
the prism-break of
r-o-y-g-b-p and moonbows.
perhaps... i’ll look into my palm
and see your word placed there.
i draw a breath, my heart races — and yes —
it’s serendipity all over again.

***s’il vous plaîs - (sel-vü-ple) French meaning “if you please”
****from Merriam-Webster
You might wonder about my use of flutterby.
My brother used to give this word as a one
word clue to get me to say butterfly.
Christmas trees made of flimsy plastic
No thanks, Santa, I'm not that drastic
Predecorated trees? No!
Don't want a Christmas "to go"
This tinsel nightmare is fantastic
Salvation Army man rings his bell
Hoping apathy he will dispel
The reason for this season
To forget seems like treason
As we watch store owners pockets swell
The three wise men had it right you see
Worshipped a babe, not a tinsel tree
Omit the nativity
And create a travesty

Happy 5th birthday have you accepted rape into your life,
It's a patriarchal practice built from sadism and male strife,
A hedonistic ritual to keep us all under control,
The birthright of masculinity bestowed upon all men young and old,
They'll decry our institution of commercialized fear funded by the tax payer's dime,
But don't let them hide the irrevocable fact that their gender alone commits crime,
Just listen to their protests of our paranoia and self-destructive delusions,
Wielding weapons of statistics the opposition seeks to incite societal confusion,
Be wary of their minstrels reciting chants for equality,
Brace yourself against the trollish foot soldiers' brutal tactics of social media skullduggery,
Be mindful my child the only knights in your life should be white,
Not those racist, misogynistic, patriarchal, bigoted, transphobic, ableist , MRA troglodytes,
The worst of their scum are the generals leading the charge from the courts and Youtube channels,
Polluting governmental positions on the discriminatory grounds of merited credentials,
Debunking "fact" after "fact" of our beloved ideology,
Do they really think my feelings are superseded by rationality,
It is imperative my children not to be deceived our greatest enemies come from within our own ranks,
So called "women" who strive to be their best denying any notion of a patriarchal state,
Just because they became successful doesn't mean all other womyn can be,
Your hard-earned accomplishments poison our minds with absurd notions of individuality,
They don't realize that womyn are oppressed everywhere,
Deemed worthless by society unless they're in the kitchen with a baby in tow,
Unable to walk outside without a male escort and deprived the right to vote,
Yes that may be in Saudi Arabia but we Western womyn are just as oppressed too,
Through the hashtag "yesallwomen" we can count ourselves among the downtrodden and render all naysayers moot,
Us feminists will not stand for this institutionalized patriarchy,
We demand the dismantling of this hateful misogynistic army,
To pave the way for our lord and savior Hillary Clinton.
'Twas a night before Blue Light Specials, when all through Ebay
Not a bargain was found, not even an iPod
The stockings were empty and coupons in disarray
In hopes that Uncle Sam will bring me a rod
The children were angry: "We want our money!!!"
With visions Three Dimensional dancing in their heads
I, mamma, in my 'kerchief pulling hair looked so funny
Had to get second job selling relaxing, cool beds...
When out in the driveway arguments and loud chatter
I sprang out of my office, see neighbor and Repo Santa
I went out to calm them and asked what was the matter
"Need to get his wheels", said he while drinking a "Fanta"
And away Santa flew, ere he drove out of sight
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!"

santa is mad and no wonder why
can’t even wave as he dashes by
first hurry to Walmart
then on to Cuisinart
getting gifts on the shelf, by July
sooner and sooner display the ware
to heck with the reason to be there
just help me fill my stein
fatten my bottom line
ease my pain, raise my gain is my fare
pretty soon we will be years ahead
we’ll get gifts back after we are dead
with no way to exchange
we’ll have to pre arrange
for Santa to return them instead

Carolyn's commercialized Holiday contest
Starting earlier every year,
Christmas costs more and more with less cheer.
This year Santa fell flat.
His diet took the fat,
Elves said,” this will not be good” they fear.
Watching commercials, they got idea.
Close diners, except pizzeria.
Each ad on T.V. now,
Pictures of pizzas wow!
Santa gains, without diarrhea.
Ads worked, he got a jolly belly.
Elves solemnly sat in a deli.
Commercialized just right,
His red suit fit so tight,
They needed petroleum jelly.
Finding a happy medium
Between the "God" on Sunday you claim
And the world you worshiped today
Living strategically in the grey
All roads lead to heaven anyway
Just don't cross that line and you'll be okay
Sin isn't sin if its downplayed
Right?
But the closer I get to the line
The more I find
My thoughts on morals being twisted and twined
what I once believed wrong is now fine
My religion becoming a secret confined
Since tasting the lusted fruit
My only pursuit
is the forbidden food
That I was suppose to exclude
To never uproot,
yet still I argued
my soul pays for its pollute
A wedding gown soiled in soot
Falling far away from holiness
down the chimney shoot
In our culture we're submerged
Forgetting to purge
Out the sin on which we gorge
No longer finding answers needed in church
Instead "how to's" typed in Google search
Just doing what we do, satisfying hormones urge
No body part left reserved
"Oh country tis' of thee"
Living far from liberty
As far as the eye can see
From the commercialized debris
Of everything worldly
Self destructing party
Get on your knees
Repent back to He
Who died so you can be free
Theres still time to intervene
From the unclean things
That leave you empty
But don't mind me
I express my views too openly
Blue men talking, standing askance.
Boasting through insecurity's dance.
Hands on their hips, changing lead.
Reacting on cue, shifting need.
Negotiating through,
judgment with a glance.
Women walking, asking what's new.
Gossip, the only bile they spew.
Hand flicks hair, waiting their turn.
No care found,
in conversational queue.
Vapid exultations,
few words ringing true.
At least children are honest,
in the games they play.
Deceit is expected,
engaged in guiled fray.
They follow nature,
yet to learn nuture.
Only feeding the belly,
indigenous feral creature.
As we grow, our self devolves.
Our heads get big.
Evolutions remain small.
Mind misses action,
never to resolve.
Blind to self, most seen, stumble.
Lost, are still children,
solving life gym's jungle.
Debased animals, looking to feed.
Self serving desires. Slovenly need.
Racing with rodents,
towards commercialized greed.
All the while, rages a storm.
Emotional tempest, everyone's norm.
Forsaken desires, thoughts, feelings.
Chasing fiction in idealized form.
What a world it could be
if we ignore the vulture.
No pressure from society,
living outside pop culture.
Without realizing such simple truth,
doom your life to perennial youth .
Blossom in being, a springtime flower.
Or, remain the same.
A beast, uncouth.
Hide your wobble,
you never found your center.
Or spin again,
open doors, and bravely enter.
It will amaze you.
Realization we are all the same.
Unique shards broken
Together, life's window pane.
Apart, yet still one, whole.
Jagged piece, portal to your soul.
So savor your flavor.
Show the piece that you hold.
Let these words be the wizard,
to a fearful lion, grown bold.
Life is a dictator's game.
Too short to do what you're told.
So stand on your path.
Heart's compass held high.
Swim against the stream,
Let loose your 'rebel cry'.

POETS ARE POOR
Omawumi birthed venom yesterday
She won't marry me again because
I am a poet, she said poets are poor
Is my pen not worthy to buy her make up?
If poetry gives no money I will still be one.
When the arrow of folly is carved
Wisdom back off to the gallaxy of stars
Poetry can't be broken easily like sticks
Poets live beyond the rivers of warlords
Poverty is not in the secret of lexicon of poets.
Mother sent me out of the house
Because I told her I want to be a poet,
She cursed my generation to come
Then wrote a note to my future never
to favour me in my desperate journey.
When the eyes of stupidity is begotten,
When the mouth stand taller than the nose,
When the scent of a madman becomes pleasant,
Check the nose that picks the aroma well
Poets are the million airplanes in the sky.
"Poets are poor" my teacher screamed at me
"Can't you be a doctor or lawyer than a poet?
You will sing without song in your mouth soon,
There won't be bread on your table to eat
And you will measure yam before you eat it"
Let the perceptive of a saint be kept,
Musical artistes are not idols to worship
I can also be praised in my own corner
Please your eyes with your sinful thought
Poets are the lust in the eyes of the saints.
"How many houses do Wole Soyinka have?
How much does Chinua Achebe have?
You will just die and perish without worth,
Nothing but a bitter tears and sorrowful blood"
My sister barked at me this morning!
It is not my tale to tell of a house and money!
Not my business to know those in their covens
All fingers are not the same as all men are not
My tomorrow have been written favourably,
I only water it through the idea of the gods.
"Go get a life, poets are sick with words!
Poets are poor! Poetry is no treasure to keep
Go and join Ekene in his business at Onitsha
That would keep bread on your table not poetry"
Father buttered my ears last breeding night.
What is my business with business
Poetry will keep food on my table soon
Poor poets are not my cup of tea to drink
Everyone have a different mindset and vision
Soon, poetry will be commercialized and we earn
Much more than Dangote and Mike Adenuga.

Voice Of Vincent 2016
Peonies and dark chocolate, the price of a modern girl’s heart.
Charming lies and hypnotizing eyes, spark before their lips part.
Commercialized and over advertised, “every kiss begins with K”.
Dinner and a movie, stupid Valentine’s cliche.
Longing to be delicate Juliet, with innocence cheeks still rosy and red,
Because Hollywood wants us to die for love, to leave a guilty veil hanging overhead.
Burning desire to visit the Moulin Rouge, to his Christian your own Satine.
When will this generation realize that love is just a dream?
Prince Charming just a character, whoever he may be,
Literature has given us false hope by fictionalizing Hannibal and Clarice.
If love can be bought, then love is not love.
If not materialized through dishonest objects, then what is it made of?
Perhaps I am wrong, and hopeless romantics are right,
And they’ll be forever together with that guy from that night.
No, I can’t prove that love is a myth.
But why wait a lifetime for temporary bliss?
So much can be proven, so much is real,
So much more than actors pretending to feel.
Friendship waves through an open glass frame.
Honesty skips gleefully with no one to blame.
Humor and humanity play games in a park,
And courage decides to go swimming with sharks.
And yet we choose love, over and above all.
We can’t prove it exists, and yet into it we fall.
Blame Hollywood falsehoods and commercialized thought,
Because, perhaps, is it possible, that true love has been lost?
All you see are gifts and lights in the mall
Loads of Christmas trees standing tall
No wise men in sight
Vendors in a retail fight
The gist is lost in their race to enthrall

HUMOR CONTEST

With my legs strong, two feet apart
Poser, poser, a quick photo opportunity
From front page through to pages four and ten
With my tail wrapped around my feet
And my coat hanging from my head
With my unbearable youth and
The thick black out denier, coating my ego
With a fine line between prostitute
And masked wonder commercialized
Villainous intent hanging off the ampersand
The you plus one, the afterthought with
Lichtenstein eyes and hair, perfectly plucked
Into leather and the public eye, imagination
Crested with your insignia, the sponsor's emblem
Emblazened as I run around in circles
Always the sequel to your trigger happy frontier
as Colorado & Washington
have thrown the dice,
the first big step in the direction
of legalizing pot
has made people against the
measure begin to stir in their
ridiculously naïve funk,
whilst proponents who do not
live in either of the two states
are no doubt, discuss with their
significant others is
a lot of rain & a lot of
snow,
is worth the move.
while there is question as to whether
the feds will step in & crush the
measures, or how commercialized
the actions could become if they are
allowed to experiment in these
uncharted waters,
“domestically grown
marijuana is thought to be the second
most profitable cash crop in the United
States.”
whilst the dead horse does not have to
be beaten, that is,
we do not need to go back in time &
look at how economically
successful Prohibition was
in comparison to the wealth of profit &
jobs which the industry has continued to
pump into our economy since its
repeal.
idiots (growing closer to death now) will stand
up & yell
“it’s a gateway drug,” as if everyone who smokes a
joint follows by tying off,
but the ways in which legalization
could help the economy of this country is
undeniable.
Santa got fired for drinking some booze
On his ten minute break he took a snooze
He curled on couch for a nap.
But time went by in a snap
Awoke to the booze soaking his caboose
