Riding the Fence
Finding a happy medium
Between the "God" on Sunday you claim
And the world you worshiped today
Living strategically in the grey
All roads lead to heaven anyway
Just don't cross that line and you'll be okay
Sin isn't sin if its downplayed
Right?
But the closer I get to the line
The more I find
My thoughts on morals being twisted and twined
what I once believed wrong is now fine
My religion becoming a secret confined
Since tasting the lusted fruit
My only pursuit
is the forbidden food
That I was suppose to exclude
To never uproot,
yet still I argued
my soul pays for its pollute
A wedding gown soiled in soot
Falling far away from holiness
down the chimney shoot
In our culture we're submerged
Forgetting to purge
Out the sin on which we gorge
No longer finding answers needed in church
Instead "how to's" typed in Google search
Just doing what we do, satisfying hormones urge
No body part left reserved
"Oh country tis' of thee"
Living far from liberty
As far as the eye can see
From the commercialized debris
Of everything worldly
Self destructing party
Get on your knees
Repent back to He
Who died so you can be free
Theres still time to intervene
From the unclean things
That leave you empty
But don't mind me
I express my views too openly
