Premium Member A Romantic Dinner For Two

My love has been out of town for weeks and weeks,
And I want to make a romantic dinner for two;
Something really special and sexy and delicious,
So, I spent days planning the menu and setting the mood.

~ The Menu ~

Appetizers

Krug Clos du Mesnil, 2000, Champagne
Raw Wellfleet Oysters on the half shell
Arugla Salad with Olive Oil and Vinegar dressing

Main Course

Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou Saint-Julian, Red Wine
Truffles
Fettuccine sprinkled with Basil and Red Peppers
Steamed Asparagus - Eggplant and Chives

Dessert

Cacao Chocolate Ice Cream with Almonds
Cafe

Now, I researched all these foods for one quality,
One thing they all have in common, all are aphrodisiacs;
Primal, sexy food, believed to enhance love making,
It is going to be an evening of passion and romance.

I decorated our outdoor deck with strung lights and lanterns,
Arranged the table for the best view of the lake;
Then, I took a bath with saffron leaves like Cleopatra,
And when my love arrived we kissed, and with soulful looks,

We went outside to dine.

Premium Member Cacao Tree

Blossoms like orchids, waxy white
Waiting for pollen's lore
Producing those bean pods purple
Chocolate treats galore

Green, yellow, red, purple grooved pods
Ebony dark the seeds
Bitter the natural flavor
Desire has acquired a need

Planted 'neath fine cacao tree
In death feast 'pon dark seeds
Bitter the pulp very toxic
Theobromine just feed

Neapolitan Ice Cream

Cacao, strawberry;
Neapolitan ice cream?
Yea, add vanilla.

Premium Member How To Make Your Own Chocolate

All chocolate comes from the cacao trees
They grow best in tropical vicinities.
The tree first grew in Central America
although most of them now grow in Africa.
A portion of them also comes from Asia.
Equatorial climate proves most ideal,
so the tree has plenty of pods to reveal.
The pods on the trees contain many small beans.
These beans have to dry by the usual means.
They have to spend many hours in the sun
before any further processing is done.
Once dry, they are processed with fermentation.
They get chocolate liquor through extraction.

The beans have to be shipped to facilities
where they are scoured for all impurities.
The brown dried beans are then roasted for some time;
long enough to bring out flavor that’s sublime.
Further along in this commonplace process,
butter is extracted by hydraulic press.
They add alkali and emulsifier,
along with sugar and vanilla flavor,
to a thick consistency that would favor
pressing into molds that are briskly shaken.
Air bubbles escape; solid bars are taken
to another room for wrapping and packing.
Finished products are ready for marketing.

Cacao kisses caress the cheek
cocoa nails, polished feet

Chocolate cake, hot and rich
Fudge syrup, sloppy kiss

Truffle lotion oh so edible

Discern and see the choice you make:
Taste sweet tasty such cacao flakes.

Fine food can free the senses dear:
Charm you can see as flavours steer.

Buy a fine feast, chocolate treat:
Indulge your least in highs that greet.

No need for guilt when pleasure primes:
Joy ever tilts fond taste gains chimes.

Cocoa seeds send fine flavours here:
A classic blend can usher cheer.

Chocolate can make wondrous eats:
You know my friend that happy feat.

Feed that sweet tooth with savvy food:
Pleasure can soothe that lovely mood.

Unique rich taste that simply swells:
So do make haste to eat and tell.

Why do I write of chocolate?
Good taste now cites a sensuous date.

To you who feel the pulse of life:
Chocolate will make pleasure thrive!

as chocolate is cacao nibs in my world

Premium Member Poetry and Popcorn

Poetry and popcorn.

I'll take mine warm,
popping over a slow burner,
not with hot air.
Buttered up,
salty and full of fat.

Poetry and chocolate.

I'll take mine sweet,
not sugar-coated.
100% cacao.
No artificial flavors,
no artificial sweeteners, please.

Poetry and a picture show.

I'll take mine free,
with lines that keep moving
for a reason,
for a rhyme.

I'll take mine simple
in black and white.
Torn pages, a ticket stub
in my book
of memorable scraps ...

Burden of a Hasty Marriage

Burden of a Hasty Marriage.
He saw her at the cafe she a cup of cacao and eating a cream cake,
he had a sandwich with cheese and ham. She looked up and smiled,
he knew she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
Shy, as he was, still found the courage to get up and walk over to her
table and ask if he could eat his modest sandwich with her; she said
yes and they sat there in silence, just eating. Dimly he knew he had to
say something, but couldn’t but couldn’t find the words so he ate
the cup and saucer, the table cloth, serviettes and crumbs of her cake,
when he began eating the table she told him to stop. Ice broken he said
he loved her, she said she loved him, not to waste time they got married
in the afternoon. Found a hotel room and stayed in bed for a fortnight.
Made love in every position one could think of; they even forgot to eat.
Entwined they slept until a knock on the door, something about paying
for the room. For him was a welcomed distraction, got up had to go to
his bank he told her, two weeks in bed it stunk like a pig sty. Paid his bill
but didn’t enter their room, he was cured of love based on sex alone

Glorious October Sunday

The Last Sunday of October.

Vilamoura marina on a glorious October day, tourists gone home
leaving the promenade for us elderly to walk sedately along it.
I saw an ancient lady walking forcefully, using a Zimmer frame,
It looked like she was trying to set a new personal record, and
we gave her space. We saw a once famous footballer, sad really
you see them running around a big green field and the next day
they are dated and forty. In case you ask, it wasn’t Beckham.
Many yachts tied up and their owners are allowed to drive their
cars on the promenade, my old socialist heart was ready to revolt.
Cafes were open and served food for us old at reduced price; still
too expensive, it was as idle waiters were eyeing us malevolently.
The Zimmer lady returned I think she had beaten her old record.
 Then it was late afternoon and the sea breeze cooled our ardour;
time to go home and drink our cacao.

Bahay Kubo Iii

BAHAY KUBO III

A makeshift house
Walking distance by the sea
No matter how poor and humble
It is a house and a home
Made of light materials
Bamboos, cogons, and madre cacaos
Relatives and friends helped me
Built this through thick and thin inspired
Sometimes, laughing at its posture
But we are definite
We live on it sharing and enjoying company, despite
We shall put decors little by little
Wood carvings and our poems and pics in frame
We are sure we’ll make a shift life from abroad to rural lives
Bringing out our love in fresh air days
Enjoying the dragon fruit blooms
And under moonlight nites!

Terms:
Bahay Kubo -- a small hut
Cogons--a wild plant that can be gathered when mature and can be used as a
roof. It is not so popular anymore as roofs have been replaced with more durable
materials in the market.
Madre cacao-- A tree in the Philippines which has several general purposes. Its big
branches can be used as posts for small houses.
Dragon fruit--cactus-like tree, blooms only at night! It has anti-oxidant properties
which help prevent cancer-causing free radicals. (from Wikipedia)

My Broma

I fell in love at first sight with THEO
Unable to understand my desire
Together only once in a while
Too young to know about loves fire

So different than any other
The food of the gods I couldn't tame
I soon began to call her BROMA
Which I discovered was her middle name

My love an eternal obsession
Too strong now to ever confine
Even though CACAO is beautiful
I'd sure change that last name to mine!

Premium Member why?

(a story in Senryus)

I can’t figure out
why everything doesn’t
happen like I want.

I brush my teeth and
floss regularly, I wash
my roommates dishes,

I am generous,
I don’t run in the hallways,
I do my homework.

I support pizza
places, Amazon - I spur
the economy

semi-sleepless night
no worries, but tossing with
no sleep - what’s with that?

My health app says I
slept three hours, four minutes.
I’m low on toothpaste.

five-thirty AM
Lisa and I ran four miles
on the gym treadmills

Banana/ peanut
butter/ cacao/ oat milk/ chia
seed breakfast smoothie.

I've been in love with
styling dresses, layered
over flared jean pants.

My first look was a
tulle dress over sequined jeans
and tan kitten heels.

The winter hook-up
scene is in full swing - not for
me, I’m like second base.

I just lay around,
in sad, unfettered, boredom
- a crying shoulder

for others, I’m not
a skanky whore, like [censored]
- try penicillin - ß??ç?

Since, as you can see,
I am, for all intents and
purposes - perfect.

I can’t figure out
why everything doesn’t
happen like I want.
.
.
Webster: Unfettered: not controlled or restricted

ß??ç? is NOT a word, it’s a set of Greek symbols - if you read something in them, well, that’s just coincidental, isn’t it?

Premium Member Milking It

While others give grief,
a chocolate milk cow
often stutters, and how!
In her udder relief,
she utters “ca-cow”
while producing cacao,
tells the nutters,
Ciao, ciao.
Not one to chew fat,
a crow in the know
tells her, no, it’s cocoa
but she says he’s loco,
and a raven, at that.

Premium Member Prisoner's Guilt

Enticement so divine it's secret I hide
Amid linens, other darken spaces
Welcoming hot passionate embraces
Only once, then never again; I always lie.

My heart refuses to waive control My pride
I try to keep looking upward, but to hell
I know so well I'll ride and the last farewell
Because of the deep secret I hide inside.

I blame myself not having the self-control
I'm told writing things down can change my life cries
Write detailed of compulsive, uncontrolled lies
I'll begin to adjust; I'm saying goodbye.

My heart yearns to write a poem I've always
Wanted to write with fulfillment and laughter
Wishing not to cry, desire of passion after
Compulsive addiction of running away-s.

I love you, a prisoner harming myself
I will make my tears dry never letting
Chocolate cacao touch my blush wetting
Lips and trust in my inner faith and self.
