“Who will not open a gift given with love? Life is a gift, own it and treasure it.”
                                                                                         _ By Poet

God has breathed life into me, and I live.
To make this life as fruitful as I can, I shall strive.

Life is a blessing, a treasure to cherish
I should make it a celebration with every moment to relish

Though life is one of ups and downs with sorrows rife,
With perseverance, I shall try to overcome every strife.

Life is a precious gift we can never forsake.
It is a journey uphill, we must all undertake.

Though life is a roller coaster ride with twists and turns
There is so much in life, each one ardently yearns

Even amid struggles, one can enjoy the beauty of living
It lies in the art of forgiving and in the joy of giving

Also in learning new things, in aiming at new heights
In relishing new scenes and in savoring new delights

Every day I take a new step, a new chance,
To improve the quality of my life, its worth enhance.

With a beacon of warmth and a touch of grace,
We can light up lives and bring a smile on many a face.

I wish I could fulfill my purpose, to light up the dark
To make a difference in some lives and to leave a mark.

As long as I live, I should see the power within,
To love, to learn, to grow, to strive and to win.

A Butterfly Inside

I feel a butterfly inside;
its wings are cramped within my breast.
The weight of flesh, o dull cocoon,
prohibits my free flight. At best
I only soar inside; my wings--
gossamer, light, remain untried.
I wait...I wait...until the day
the barred' cage is flung aside
and airy wings lift toward the skies.

I have felt this graceful creature
flutter faintly deep inside;
then, at times, so ardently,
I think no way will it abide!
It will be loosed! Its wish to fly
will push the bars of flesh aside.
Determined is this butterfly
to show its colors multiplied
and wing its way through azure skies.

The time is drawing near, I'm sure;
the throbbing swells within my heart.
The cumbrous cocoon, filled with life,
is bursting now, falling apart.
The butterfly is breaking free;
no more its wings will tightly furl,
but lightly spread upon the breeze
their filmy webs, gilded and pearled...
and, then, my soul will leave this world.

The Depression Destroyer

What causes someone to sink so low
And let an upright spirit to kneel and bow
To the pressures they are unable to undo
Neither can reverse this malady nor subdue?

Let us not someone retreat in the darkest nook
Before we try all the remedies in the book,
Replenish her love and together ardently pray
And shower her with care night and day.

Disheartening it is to see one of our own thus bear
The burden that lays on her heavy and rare;
Hang in there, Linda! Have faith--PERSEVERE,
Forget not who you are--The poet Destroyer!

Wishing you all the best, Linda, and a speedy recovery!

Premium Member Falling Stars

So many falling stars!
A meteor shower bursting
like a miniature firework,
Silvery sparkles diving down the sky,
There behind the northern star
Down to the hazy horizon
Far from the Centaurus constellation.
Sinking in oblivion.

My love urged me to make a wish.
Do falling stars grant any wish?
No reply. My love had wandered off.
Worried I felt the spontaneous gyrations of my heart.

I strayed in the dark park searching,
Hearing coyotes howl, owls hooting,
Mice scuttling in the under wood.
I hunted earnestly hoping to see her there.
But she had disappeared
As I looked up at the last falling star.

Wake up, man, love comes not from stars.
And yet it was such a lovely sight
That I was not ready to deny my dreams
no matter what anyone might think.
So I wished with all my heart.
Just one falling star might come true.
My love was waiting for me ardently.
See, she was behind a tree
Hiding from the falling stars.

Blacked Heart

Blacked Heart

Within the blackness blissed lies the love that has been missed
For within the miasma mist a darkish deprived heart does resist
Of the silenced sounds heard escapes a lonely wounded word
Of the slumbered souls spurred amidst the dormant eyes blurred

Amongst the burials buried blind my lamenting love is left behind
In a clustered cave confined echoes of a manqué mind maligned
For in a cathedral chastised chant my thoughts in a ravaging rant
In a primal punitive pant bled emotions erected in a penile implant

Where my apocalyptic asylum stands ruling tyrant of sin commands
And demons dream of wastelands I parochially pray with idle hands
My heart a deeper dark by the hour is left in a storm a fragile flower
Upon this shattering shower ardently abandoned with a dying dour.

Tuirse

I have been in unequaled turmoil,
Overused in my personal trauma,
Drowning in tear rivers of tragedy,
Soul dipping southward trajectory,
But they do not seep from these eyes,
Nor do they follow the cries,
Just the heavy emptiness that thrives,
Within each breath hope in me dies,
But then there are those who remind me,
Why I have walked the road of words ardently,
Thank you for reigniting my linguistic dream,
I want you to know,
that you are the intrinsic thread that holds my spirit seem.

Premium Member Unending Bliss - Afterglow Wish

Written: March 31st, 2025, for contest, Sponsored by: Kai Michael Neumann

             ************

After basking in yesterday's afterglow,
I divested my vestments
to shift in cognitive mindset.
I stroll toward the horizon.
where the azure sky
embraces the vast sea blue.
Waves dance.
With silvered clouds,
Creating an orchestra
The wind and light are present.
Sallow shadows scintillate.
In Moonlight Melodies...
As dusk settles,
casting a shimmering awe that echoes of
The splendor of the galaxies abounds.
In every breath,
A promise resonates,
to the dawn
that dwells within me.

Gliding on golden wings
a sovereign among the kings
As light swirls beneath the Milky Way,
The cosmos shines brilliantly.
In a pearly gown.
Angels slide,
Unleashing their power
to restore their lost throne.
With flickering wings,
Wield the sword of stone
their footsteps inscribe
a path of golden light,
As they conquer the onyx depths
of an obsidian night.

Loving blasts their souls.
angel wings shake in sadness,
where grief and despair are hefty,
seeking an aerial citrine nirvana
I recall it sharply,
as if it were yesterday,
Tears mar the silky pillows.
as honeysuckle
It oozes from eager lips. —
There is a longing for satisfaction.
Lipstick etches its mark.
He left an imprint on his bare skin.
Even now, those intertwined chains
of Memory ensnares me.,
As well-oiled fingers traverse
the curves of the sensuous body,
ordinary yet glowing in the sunlight,
filled with a relentless passion.

Nervous tension shattered,
striking, akin to a diamond on ebony velvet.
As her body warmed and became silky,
Her lips melted and tasted delicious.
They expressed love ardently.
and hugged fervently.
swept up in passion and longing,
wishing the moment might last forever,
cocooned in each other's arms,
and felt blissfully pleased,
Polishing words into gems,
dusted garnet, with sunset slips
In citrine clouds cast
There was a ray of magenta skies.
I wish for unending delight.
and utter bliss in the afterglow.

Premium Member Dreams of You

I return to sleep – where dreams live on and on
thinking of a love that now is gone -
and how in youth I’d felt blue
until then. . into
my dreams came
YOU -
a bright flame
that ardently grew.
But fires die. Can they renew?
Sometimes! If I wake at early dawn,
I return to sleep – where dreams live on and on.

Prism

Each Friday recedes in burgundy
Bathed ardently in Luna’s kiss

                     But, Sunday will dawn cerulean
With dulcet tones of lovers’ bliss

Bearing flavors wantonly consumed
I greet each hue voraciously

I taste the spectrum more than I see
                    My senses piqued peculiarly

As kaleidoscopic concertos
Obscure my sight in grand array

                   Each blending shade completes the phrasing;
                   Brilliantly, prism love songs play

I Want To Love You

 I want to feel you

like a petal feels the wind

I want to touch you

like dewdrops touch my skin

I want to hold you

like moon shadows hold a star

I want to tickle you

like the flutter of a butterfly

tickles my heart from fields afar

I want to lay my head upon your lap

like a child lays his head upon the lap

of a sterile mother in her fertile dream

I want to miss you

like an immigrant misses his home-land

The land which deceived his opportunities

yet embraced his early footsteps

Poured his first tear in a stream

I want to think of you, ardently

I want to seek for you, secretly

In the same way those paramour's enchanting eyes

seek and wander for his flamboyant mistress

I want to live dying to have you

like a hero dies in battlefield

dying to capture his daughter's smile

knowing that the last glimpse of her

is a worn out sanguined picture

I want to find you

in the same way my faith finds God

Without seeing,without knowing

With all doubts,questions and mysteries

With all that I was, with all that I am

and all I ever will be

I want to love you

Eleventh, March

A sigh escapes still, immune to overt silence, unabashed...justified
Another teardrop enters the infinite pool of resilience, uplifting...reinforcing
   Another hand empathizes--
touching, impulsively putting one's heart unto wounds, alleviating pain
enfolding memories into paper, ostensibly vigilant
         Unborn dreams awaiting fruition.

empty streets, impacted pieces: occupied lives, unwavering spirits

Arighting the entropy--
"Not Impossible!" Heaves Obstacled Nation -- Untiring, Persevering!

A lone emboldened seed is planted, objectifying hope,
  ushering life amidst rubble,
engaging tenacity inherently within overburdened, yet undauntable voices
Ardently surging, emerging from insidious waves of chaos,
     ultimately touching azure

Time effortlessly moves, insensitive to ordeals
  nonetheless, undoubtedly healing...

As wings echo distantly, irradiated winds oscillate
                     blush unfurling light...

Arise, Sun! Embrace the illuminated blossom. Orbit Love's universe.

11th March 2011

**It has been two years since Japan encountered
such a devastating triple tragedy
of the earthquake in Tohoku, tsunami and
the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster...

They are still slowly picking up the pieces,
so much needs to be done,
so many are still displaced, uncertain of their futures, of their lives...
hopefully they are not forgotten.

It may take long, long years,
but I honestly believe Japan can rise over this, I honestly hope so.

****Thank you David for this enjoyable challenge.
It has pushed me to approach this topic in a way that
I would have never thought of on my own....

Whatever It Takes

When two choose each the other
Having decided this, their fate
A bond, a pledge, a vow replaces
That which, unchosen, cannot wait
Even when it requires a warrior resolute,
Vitality deathless, and sacrifice continuous,
Eternal must the pledge be, or
Risk betrayal's scourge sinuous.

It is at the pit, against the fiery horde
That Absalom dulls the finest sword

This is what it takes to stand at my side
Antagony to injustice is my cause
Knell my soul to abandon, divide
Eidetically my failure would resound, preside
Sorcerous dreams expounding my flaws.

Indebted to peace, yet still facing war
Soliloquy sweet, punished yet more.

When the lashes pernicious slander my spirit
Have you the stamina to fight weaponless, naked?
Ardently ask the goddess Irit
That throughout the nightmare, you survive unwakéd?

Impassioned, immortal, immoderate, rhetorical

Would you, could you, if so, should you?
Illusion or real, my fight is defense
Leave destruction behind
Lose selfish pretense

Give willingly blood to the unjust blow
Impatiently wait the night for the dawn
Vicious dark creatures attack love's glow
Effervescent, they dissolve at the light, and pass on.

Because violence feeds violence, and hate cannot withstand love's rapture.

A Redundancy of Negativity

I've grown quite weary of negative poems full of sarcasms
It's true we're separated on many issues by deep chasms
We see things differently; shades of gray, black and white
but please stop demeaning others when critically some write
about government and vaccines as if you're having spasms?

Stop accusing people of wanting to live in an ivory tower
What are you hungry for? Do you seek recognition or power?
Freedom still exists in America, but if you don't agree
say goodbye to her shores and come face to face with reality.
Negativity breeds doom and gloom from voices that are sour.

Write of the beauty of Nature, or the good things people do
There's no need to harp on and on. It's redundant to boo hoo.
If writing about politics and religion ruffles feathers of peers,
focus on something else. All you have to do is change gears.
Writing positive poetry is a goal I ardently hope we will pursue.

miraculous ruby sunrise at dawn,
gossamer twilight mauve sunset -
scintillating stars at midnight sky ..
moments of divine awe,
playful creepers on the fence,
vermillion rose-bush in the garden ...
dew drops on lotus leaves ...
an almost-forgotten poignant song from the past ..
reverberates.

precious faces treasured and engraved in bosom for time eternal -
emerge noiseless when I close my eyelids,
my father’s handsome lined face with pouring love ~
waving me back at our last meet ...
my mother’s kind eyes, calm and serene ~
praying ardently for everyone she knew and she did not !

sweetest friends from childhood ~
playing hide-and-seek, floating paper boats on a rainy day...
angelic  children I taught ~ eyes glittered...
faces lightened up when I am with them ~
found love incomparable...

a magical love spreads its radiant hue,
lingers in the innermost corner of my heart,
symbolizing the endlessness of feelings,

A childhood which was the source of all love ...
evokes, in all my senses ...
unfathomable emotions...
