I was driving with my friend Delia in my brand new Honda Civic
It was noon and we were on our way to see my Auntie,
she’s my mum’s sister, we call her Evil Olive!
Suddenly I swerve to avoid something in the road and skid on some dumb mud -
Was it a cat I saw?
Won’t I panic in a pit now?
Sadly last year there were ten animals I slam in a net.
I was distraught; I don’t want to step on no pets.

Delia saw I was ailed, do you need a drink she asked?
“Rum… rum…” I murmur.
Silly me, I redden, I mustn’t drink and drive
Delia takes over the wheel and pulls up at Walmart’s tram law
We get the trolley passing the fruit and veg, no lemons, no melon.
Oh drat! mom had asked me to take some fruit to Auntie Olive
I’m a vegan, ew eat a ewe - eating meat; the thought is quite disgusting
I wonder when they are killed do geese see God?
I grab something for tea, Ya! Pizza zip pizazz! I pay.

Premium Member YOUR FICKLE CLIMATE

Your aura packs rapt confusion -
it snap drags me with a cyclone’s aloof ~
Your spring perfume cloaks your stroked fall spoof
and your bright appeal conceals delusion -
yet, my eager seeks your smoked flair’s intrusion.

My climbing hope seeks a clue -
it examines gaps in your fickle climate ~
I attempt to riot your depths of private.
Your sky-air raises hints of midnight blue
to dance breezy-twirls on my need's point of view.

Intoxication steeps your vibrations -
flirt notes disguise your spirit’s tone ~
still my swollen need seeks burns in your cool zone.
Your essence boasts self-confident foundations
while my patina pales from riled frustrations.

The new poet craved a just tad of attention,
Not realizing others were at a poet laureates'convention.
Or, let's say, that was simply their disdain and heartless ideation!

I took her sincere hand, and told her that her poem was truly grand.
Her eyes lit up, as though hearing a big band!
I felt so good giving another a smiling hand.

I do know what it's like to be new.
And those first, warm supportive comments come into you.
Hope, optimism then rise and gleam brightly, how true!

" Do unto others, as you  would have them do unto you."

Dedicated to Darlene de Beaulieu...your comments in my early days here and all these two years have blown me away. God bless you! Many read, few comment as you do.
**** You brighten this community of poets. *****
I so admire you! What a fine, example you set for us all.

Aloof

Disdainful moon,
Scrutinized my happiness
And unparalleled delight
Delight that she once felt
Towards her only light
Light that made her beautiful
And displayed her unrivaled might
Might that gradually fading
Because of her shattered pieces heart
Heart that caused her to be secluded,
Torn asunder, and apart
Apart that will no longer be together
And be like exquisite finest art
Art that appreciates beauty
Of the lost and isolated
Disdainful moon

Aloof, Alone

... moody moon's pale scowl,

          aloft alone, aloof owl,

          lone wolf's lonesome howl...

Premium Member Time Flies Aloof

Days pass aloof to all hearts reap,
strays memories we wish to keep.
Ploys of time constantly remold
joys that we wish to ever hold.
While eyes close to deeply reflect,
vile time spies flashbacks to infect.
Should time leave my recall intact -
could be my joy would first react!

Aloof

I come from afar
farther than pebble roads
on which I travel
than chandeliered old hotel
turned into home for the disabled
than rainbow rising reluctantly
after recent rain
than bumpy rides on rubbery buses
for my eyes look at scenes
from a brightly colored time
my mind is sealed in an airtight jar
and my words trickle on the page
when they should pour out like a wound
used to the comfort zone
of their imprisonment

If hatred is at one extreme,
and love is at the other
It's time we joined the very same team
and grow aloof to one another

Aloof

Dressed in shoddy attire as I slow gait,
With unkempt hair and an unshaven face,
Are traits that express my depressed state.

Before my downfall, they did me berate;
And my self-confidence reduced to waste.
So now I dress shoddily and slow gait.

Since I don’t bathe, the odours permeate,
Warning others to hasten their escape,
Is a trait expressing my depressed state.

City dumpsters filled with waste serve my taste
Are on the streets where I beg for spare change,
Dressed in shoddy attire as I slow gait.

“Tragic,” they exclaim, “a living disgrace!”
I remain aloof since I quit the race
And don’t elaborate on my depressed state.

“I’m not lazy,” I explain, “I’m debased,”
And rebuff the world by accepting my fate.
Dressed in shoddy attire while I slow gait
Are traits that express my depressed state.

Aloof

She cringed in pain and fear
As she zigs and zag
across the lonely and troubled paths
she wobbles as she is pelted with rocks
sticks and troubled minds

She Pants thus filled with dread
as she scanned the fiery faces
Of friends now turn foes
Hungry for her pain
Lusting for her blood
Eager for her death

Beclouded with fear
She longed for hope
Clinging to herself
she is lost to fate
even as she holds on to her faith

Unlinked to the tree
he doesn’t know his family–
stands aloof, questions

ancestors don’t change
the mood of the weather:
the leaf needs his name

Aloof Waft Ting Thru Spiritus Mundi

While rummaging, mining,
and distilling me gray matter,
stoking mentality activates
oft time surprising me,
where unexpected novel

cognizance never abates,
I experienced becoming
linkedin with cosmic fates,
sans collective unconscious
soul of the universe,
and chanced to espy,

(albeit only a trimmed speck),
the spirit of William Butler Yeats
considered one of the foremost figures
of 20th-century literature,
where elan suddenly accelerates
though immediately abruptly stops

dead still in figurative tracks
utter disbelief accompanied
by shell shocked shyness accentuates
to remain stock still
suddenly feeling inadequate, inferior
immovable, insignificant...self doubt actuates

internal tussle, while
wise counsel within adjudicates
unable to convincingly
brush off devil's advocates,
which in no way, shape or form
successfully bolsters cockamamie idea,

floats and navigates fan to see, alternates
with bold prospect an emotional
paralysis immediately aggravates
anxiety as cowardice accumulates,
nonetheless pesky needling aggregates
maximizing far fetched optical illusion,

despite what must be hallucination,
this laughable wordsmith appreciates,
though many wildest dreams of mine defy
explanation, a feeble attempt articulates,
how dreamlike hypnotic stance captivates,
thru cosmic haze quantum matter assimilates

aura, charisma, enigma
rippling ethereal tore'n shroud
sensing, nursing, imbibing...
indecisiveness capitulates
wavering seduced mooring
temptation assertively celebrates

nonpareil genius among pantheon,
whose Eire rush grandeur circulates
thru time and space infiltrates
stimulating within mine off kilter crown,
where reverence circulates,

for long deceased Irish poet laureate,
his unseen presence amalgamates
vibrant tendrils of late
August author's grandeur effectively percolates
within and illuminates me with inspiration.
