The Poetry Soup Convention 2011

My name is Gary Fields
And I am at the Poetry Convention
Their are a myriad of Poet's
They are all in contention
There are so many that I may
Want to mention'
So, pay attention
Fore they must do this
In abstention

At my table there are three
Their are four including me

The second choice in my contention
IS Dr. Ram Mehta
He is such an easy catch
He is a voice/a reflection
He shares' so much love and affection
Being one of so few words
His disposition is the best
And his Human Psyche will
Never rest'

Could this be some sort of test
That his deepest guarded secret's
Are guarded close to his chest

Being a doctor and all
It is unlikely that he will ever confess

Third at the table is the X DESTROYER X POET
Due to the lack of word's
She always' have something for ya
And will certainly destroy ya
If not, then simply ignore ya
Fore she deserves' to seat here

And not just on the foyer

It is a main bone of contention
There is no reason why I can't enjoy ya
Or at least releave the tension

With her advanced degree
her suplituding pensoin for Poetry
It seems' that her messages' are
Aimed straight for me
She give's to this her all
She never seem to miss a call

And to past the test
One may think that
She seem's to be a little obsessed
Most of all
She keeps' her secret
Buried so close to her breast
And what wonderful breast they
Might be

Only saving for us
The one's she profess to be the best
But never the less
She rises' among the rest

Fouth at the table is Ms. Sweetheart of Poetry
Wish she will spend more Poetry with me
And plain not just ignore me
Because I'm a fan of her now
She introduced me to this race
She is all ways' on the case

She is fully comfortable in her space
I just hope that she won't have to use
All of her mace,
She composes' herself with grace
Fore this is so much an adventure
And not just some silly old Snail Race
If I haven't said enough by now
Then it is because I am running
Out of space, or being run out of town
But, there is always one next year
Same time, manybe not
The same old place

                        GF

happy birthday april
for an eternity to come
because with your faith in God
an eternity was won

no more worries or fears of death
no more choking or gasping for breath
no need for doctors or even a nurse
there is only one cure for every single curse

no fighting, debating
or picking sides
love is the answer
and love decides

i thank God for this day
the day that you were born
for without this day
my love would be forlorn

one day for certian
when the deadline comes
i'll pass through the curtian
and straight for you i'll run

and as God as my wittness
to the many days i cried
i often wanted to be with you
but thank God i never tried

we could have had our love story
and then let that be that
but the Lord has a better story
and i believe that that's a fact

i still believe in a love
that is so so true
the love that holds us together
me, God and you

death can come
in the blink of an eye

you can't see it comming
when it comes from the sky

health does'nt matter
when it's your time to die

death is lurking
allways near by

a wind, a wave, someones gun
too much of a medicine even the sun

a crash, a bite, a sexual encounter
nothing can stop it not even cowards

jealosy, hatred, and our own stupidity
an accident, a robbery and all of natures furys

so it's best to be ready
when your time comes

we all have to do it
each and every one

Premium Member The 2011 Grin

Grinning facetiously, frozen in
The moment, zealously enjoying frivolity,
With smile, ovaled wide-open mouthed, clean bright
Sparkling pearl white teeth ... all majestically a glow.
Fire powered with healthy purity.

Accompanied by a loud euphonious deep thundering
Voice, intensely roaring aloud ... louder
Almost deafening,
Exhilarate sounds of joy,
Part of the flash, exuberance and health in the moment.

Cheerful tears of uncontrollable glee
Ecstatically flowing, drop by drop,
Slow,
Into an loosely-defined pool of happiness,
To celebrate healthy blessedness.

The joy of the new 2011... with its uncertainty
An opportunity to review, rectify, and grow with hope.
Time to re-stoke the fire of faith
In all that we are
And with all that we have...

Let Us Come Together To Build a Non-Violent World

Premium Member Alabama Twister April 27, 2011

Black clouds bury the blue skies of Bama overhead
as monstrous winds wipe out towns of southern plain.
From historic antebellum it left a path of dead
in the midst of hail and drenching down-pouring rain.

Ten hours of terror that held the sweet south in its grip
not yielding to warnings since wind motion was quick.
Leveled houses and buildings with just one long dip
leaving nothing to relish of mementos or red brick.

Toys and papers scattered with the dying whirl twist
sending debris to nearby states in massive claws.
Disaster covers barren- lifeless- ground in hail and mist
while residents view destruction that harshly gnaws.

Blind darkness filled the night after the storms once seized
bleak clouds clung, still forbidding stars or moon to shine.
Lives spared but tattered beings were left quite uneased
and not rightly sure where tired bodies could now resign.

Despair fills many counties hit by a ravenous wind
that changed a million lives in a fleeted moment.
Winds of majesty can transform, bringing life to an end
along with frazzled minds and souls in much discontent.

Although lives have been altered and turned inside out
friendship and well wishes are given in great abundance.
It will take patience to rebuild quaint rural towns, no doubt
with God’s and friends help, we still have a fighting chance.

“Sweet Home Alabama, you’re home sweet home to me”!

Ein ausgelöschtes Leben
Die Zeit vorweg genommen
Verschwimmende Gedanken
Wie Bilder, die verblassen

An annihilated life
Anticipated in time
And then almost blurring thoughts
Like some fading images

Una vida aniquilada
Anticipado en tiempo
Borrosos pensamientos
Desvaneciendo imágenes

Eid Greetings 2011

It rained THIS year around Eid.
Rained both, clear... and blood.
And the land was cleansed by the following morning.

(For those unaware, Eid is a religous festival celebrated by Muslims)

After the Flood: 2011

That day, rain brought death.
Raging torrent swept away
Lives, homes, happiness.

TV images,
Bring impotent sympathy
For loss, shock and tears.

On a nearby shore —
Little blue boat, torn in half,
A chair up-ended.

Two porcupine fish —
Victims of freshwater flood
Mourned by a small child.

A request to tell all of your kinfolk, that are inside Heavens Gate

To keep watch on one of my folk, for she has a special date

Their just east of South Dakota, though she's in a different state

For these Doctor's in Minnesota, want a team to secure her fate

Their are many special surgeons, who all do their job first rate

Prayers are needed, even sermons don't want any wishes to be late

Let your words of prayer guide them, for she is my special mate

The plan, in spring to send her home, I guess Grampa, will have to wait

Lion lying in his lair
Big belly bloated

Zebra and Zebu
Warily watching, worried
Ready to run

Fatigued full feline
Snoozes in the savannah

Tornado In Alabama, April 27, 2011

Oh how furious it was, God sent his power from above. He let the Black clouds
and the rain come gushing through our window panes. Oh what scary a sight to see,
I felt like running, I tried to free me. The gushing winds blowing so fast, I never
thought I would last. The winds he sent was meant to be, to warn all of us our
souls need to be free.

He sent his fury fast and long, we were all surprised where it roamed. The tornadoes
went from one county to another, sending its wrath, killing, destroying and giving us
trouble. Cries were heard throughout the night, People screaming and praying with
all their might.

The tornadoes did not stop, they destroyed our lands, and ruined our crops.
The devastation it left on our minds is here to stay and will never go away.
This is a terrible storm we will never forget, because it lasted a long time and all
of us were upset. We hoped and prayed it would pass us by, asking and praying
to God, please dont let us die!

We all tried to seek shelter in our homes, before we knew it, everything was gone.
Some of us found ourselves standing outside with nothing hardly for cover, we were
screaming and crying searching for one another.

Farwell 2011 and Hello 2012

In a wink of an eye 2011 went by
Wasn’t it just yesterday I gave 2010 away?
2012 is now replacing you
There is still is so much I wanted to do
Ooh well I am not in a hurry
Because if I do
Time will be very blurry
A lesson learned well
Carefully taught by 2010
Timing is everything
What, How, Where and When!!!

2011 I thank you
You made me see what is true
I am grateful
Explaining to me how to be faithful
To the teachings of life
So 2011 I say Farwell
To you my dear good friend
With all my heart
I’ll cherish every moment in time we spent

2012 in a week you and me will finally meet
I am pretty sure
Our time together is going to be SWEET
2011 has been talking a lot about you
Dreaming of the things we are going to do
Can’t wait to get to know you
What will you bring me?
Where will you take me?

2012 I am ready for you to show me
Everything you are supposed to be
