ELEUTHEROMANIA
I suffered and recovered from depression;
but did not know I have an obsession
with freedom until I read Eleutheromania.
I thought I only have bouts of Beatlemania.
This great desire to be free started
when I was a child; but obstructed.
At seven, I did not know where to go,
so I decided to forget and forgo.
At eighteen, I ran away several times
for I did not know where I belong at times.
I always felt lost and just wanted to be free
from living with two contrasting families.
Soon enough life got more complicated.
Married twice and divorces contemplated.
Freeing myself from an insecure jealous guy
and an alcoholic, to both I said good bye.

In the 1960's the winds of change were blowing
As a generation came into its own
A feeling of revolution was growing
The seeds had already been sown
It was a time of hope and tears
Of the good the bad and the ugly
Of spaghetti westerns so aptly named
Make love not war protests proclaimed
But the war raged on just the same
The Barbie doll was introduced
And Beatlemania was set loose
Platform shoes were riding high
Mini skirts showed off thighs
Neil Armstrong walked on the moon
"This Magic Moment" was a hit tune
Everyone was doing the twist
To rhythms they couldn't resist
John Kennedy was the new president,
And planned to change the status quo
But on a fateful day in 1963
An assassin's bullet found its mark
And left a nation in the dark
Dr King and Robert Kennedy met the same fate
They were both killed in 1968
By the end of the decade we were left with a sad song
"Has anybody here seen our good friends Martin, Robert, and John
They stood for freedom and justice
But we just looked around ....and they were gone"

Something about way they wooed me
Attracted me like no others
Something in the way they used me
I won't ever be too old
to forget how those love songs moved me
Somewhere in their songs there grew
a sound, new, unlike the others
Something in their style so rare
It won't ever be too much
to sense how their music touched me
You're asking me will my love grow
This I know...this I know
You stick around now it may show
This I know.....this I know
Something in the way they played
And all I have to do is hear them
Something for the soul they gave me
It won't ever be too strange
to claim how the music changed me

Beatlemania (The Fab Four As Lovers)
Once a choir boy, John turned to romance,
Fell for Yoko almost at first glance.
In full public view
In bed with her too -
Showed the world how to “give peace a chance.”
Quiet George played much more than guitar.
Lost his wife to another rock star.
Layla left him because
Of how hung up he was
On the music he made with his sitar!
Ringo acted in “Caveman” and met
His wife Barb (once a Bond girl) on set.
Though the film of this drummer
Was dumber than dumber,
Wise in love, he’s not left his Barb yet!
A heart breaker, Paul left Wife "One"
For Linda, and made her a vegan!
On their farm smoking pot,
They made money (a LOT)!
He’s a genius whose life sure seems fun!

Fifty years ago today,
The Beatles sang a song
That started Beatlemania
And we all tagged along.
“She Loves You” was recorded
And the lads took to the stage;
In suits and shiny bowl-cut hair,
They soon became the rage.
I watch the film of screaming girls
And know just how they felt,
For when those Beatle “Whooos” were sung,
I thought my heart would melt.
Some music does that – takes us back
And, like a sleight-of-hand,
We’re instantly transported,
With the past at our command.
The years drop off and so does all
That’s happened in-between.
“She Loves You” hits the radio
And I’m again thirteen.

Across the universe
Has there ever been a band,
That so many understand
Life changing music, made and played,
By courtesy, of their hand
Imagination limitless,
Creations lit the spark in us
Visions of a better time, unreal sublime,
Took away, the dark in us
Those were the heady days,
Absorbing us in many ways
Seducing ears, eyes filled with tears,
With how their songs amaze
Now I recall how sad we were,
At the setting of the sun
But all good things, must come to end,
When all is said and sung
I would wrap up all those lines,
That tingle jingle at the nerves
And send them in a rocket ship,
To burst, across the universe
Nothings gonna change their world
Nothings gonna change their words
Nothings gonna change their world
As they fly across the universe

In my dreams I sing this song
That I am walking to your door
That I would be where I belong
Would be in your arms evermore
Reality is when I awake
Dried tears upon my face
Distraught making my body shake
Of you there is no trace
You died suddenly so very young
No time to live, no hopes no fun
We were just starting to play loves song
Your gone just like the setting sun
My life is different now, but still I try
To find you, you still have that hold
When alone I sit reminisce and cry
Walking that long winding road

dreams or illusions of living in peace and harmony
In thinking about life's problems I didn't come undone
images still float in the wind, music of the Harmonie
The magical dream of people on earth living as one
An adolescent desire of a world with a lasting peace
let us justify a bad decision to stop sowing seeds
or are we nomadic people, living like a flock of geese
Life is following the one in front, unsure of where it leads
with ideas, seeds are sown, establishing a path to peace
Can we transcend innovations, to stop following the flocks
to learn people exchanging views possibilities will increase
listening to people and stop throwing metaphoric rocks
"Yesterday, trouble was distant life a game to be played"
Our people may be gone, but our past lets us be unafraid
My angel seems far away, but memories will never fade
all dreamers, vying in the game of life will never be swayed
I still believe and long for yesterday

I took a dive
And saw the fish.
A star fish too…
I made a wish.
An octopus,
A scuttling crab,
The ocean’s floor
Is never drab.
As mermaids sing
And dolphins play,
I wish this was
My holiday.
A treasure chest,
A sunken ship.
Now time to leave -
But what a trip.
I can’t believe
The things I’ve seen;
I wish I owned
This submarine.

Here comes the sun
In this cold place I know so well
Waves of warmth have finally come.
So I’ll wait with my tale to tell;
Over my world, here comes the sun!
Always after the rain it comes.
Why would I ever need to run?
When I can stand and bid welcome;
Into my arms, here comes the sun!
In the black of night before dawn,
When my dreaming has come undone,
Wanderlust, banished with a yawn;
Into my heart, here comes the sun!
In yesterdays shadows and shade,
Many things wrong I thought were fun.
Lying here in the love we made;
Open my eyes, here comes the sun!
Where did you come from my sweet elf?
How did you know I was the one?
You bring laughter into my life;
When you give love, here comes the sun!

It's been dull and dreary for months on end.
The chill of winter is lingering long,
Invading my bones and disturbing my mind.
How I wish this season would hurry along.
Waking this morning I glanced out my window,
Expecting more snow, more clouds, more gray.
But to my surprise and immense delight,
Golden sunlight is in full display!
Here comes the sun in all of its glory,
To warm up the earth and begin its rebirth.
The ice will soon melt and nature awaken,
With colorful flora sprouting up from the earth.
Here comes the sun, see it rise in the east,
Feel its warmth on your face at midday.
Winter's sojourn is coming to an end.
Hallelujah! Spring is on the way.

Hey dude you think your so bad
you went out and shot your dad
just cause he dressed in plaid
reminded you of that dick channey lad
Hey dude dont feel so scared
for you should of seen my standing hairs
while you were pointing that shotgun everywhere
just glad it wasn't I standing so close there
And to think dude my heart didn't jump
come a little closer for I think I just took a dump
but let me go check behind this nice little stump
cracking a smile all the way from my rump
Hey dude your so gross
but its you who I love the most
as I raise this shotgun and toast
I see you running for the coast
So run dude as fast as you can
from any guy thinking they have a safe plan
let them go and join another rock band
for you can still think your life is so grand
Hey dude you think your so bad
now your the one dressed in all plaid
thirthy years for shooting that dad
now dick chaney's singing sorry and it's so sad

Oh, ain’t he plump,
Yeah, watch him shake his big round rump.
And the nicest way that I can say it is
Ain’t he plump?
Oh, ain’t he stout,
Yeah, see him twist and hear him shout.
And the nicest way that I can say it is
Ain’t he stout?
He’s disco dancing on the dance floor.
Good golly gee, he’s gonna do more!
See him jump
Well, see his pants rip; hear that thump.
And the nicest way that I can say it is
Ain’t he plump?
Oh, ain’t he plump,
Yeah, watch him shake his big round rump.
And the nicest way that I can say it is
Ain’t he plump?
Oh, ain’t he stout,
And now he's let it all hang out.
And the nicest way that I can say it is
Ain’t he stout?
He’s disco dancing on the dance floor.
Good golly gee, he’s gonna do more!
Watch him bump.
Well, don’t ya think he’s quite a chump?
And the nicest way that I can say it is
Ain’t he plump?
OH, ain’t he plump,
Yeah, watch him shake his big round rump.
And the nicest way that I can say it is
Ain’t he plump?
And the nicest way that I can say it is
Ain’t he plump?

It's been a hard day's write .
And I've been workin' at this screen .
It's been a hard day's write.
Ain't nothin' happening.
I'm feelin' mean .
But then , when I get that rush
It happens all of a gush.
You know I feel alright .
You know I work all day
And then dash home to
My PoetrySoup .
And it's worth readin' what they have to say
Those brilliant writers
Yeah ! , what a troupe .
But then , what I like the best
Is writing for a contest.
You know I feel alright .
I haiku
Limerick or strictly in rhyme .
Then I'll do
Free verse and all out of time .... time .. yeah !
It's been a hard day's write.
Brian Strand can do it and Rhoda too .
Mrs. O'Leary - George and Devonshire
Caryl and Catie , to name a few .
But when I read Caroline ,
Dane-Ann and Joyce chill my spine
You know I feel alright .... You know I feel alright .

I dined with a girl,
guess I should say
we both were free.
Her name was miss Ethel,
made me feel special,
t'was love I could see.
(Chorus)
She was my whole world 'til that romantic repast,
I didn't know how long my stomach would last...
She cooked on the grill,
looked like road kill'
in some kinda swill.
She said let us eat,
I asked her "why?"
she said "my treat."
(Chorus)
She said "have some more" and I asked for a bag,
She slopped on some more and I started to gag!
I sat on the couch,
in fetal crouch,
whispering "ouch".
She turned down the lamps,
I held back my cramps,
She wanted to dance...
She asked me to stay; she was making desert,
"It's Gopher gut pie" and..I.. hurled in my shirt !
And.. then I awoke,
It was a dream,
My shirt was clean.
So I stoked the fire,
...isn't it good,
to eat what we should.
to the tune of "Norweigan Wood" by the Beatles....(Key of D preferred please)
