Premium Memberspaceboy tries strawberry margarita

miniature spaceboy was not as young as he looked
he found a drink on the table and it looked well cooked
he had a tiny taste out of a straw that was sitting alone
strawberry margarita packed a wallop, he dropped his cellphone

the person who came back to the table sucked it up through the straw.
complained to the bartender who said “lah dee dah”
a miniature spaceboy drops that cellphone in drinks every night.
the customer gave the barkeep a look that said “you aren’t right.”

Premium MemberI Cannot Serve You

He bellied up to the bar
All cuddly-wuddly thought the barkeep
He ignored the pup
The pup began to whine
I cannot serve you! The barkeep said
You are a baby
The puppy showed him ID
It said he was twenty-six years old
Sorry, the barkeep apologized.
Afterall, it was his picture
I’d like a pint the puppy barked.

Grow Together

At our very first encounter I sat with thirst to pour seriously over our future

By the hour every burst of bewilder would grow stronger as our curiosity grew together

We’ve grown together I’m a believer we’ll own forever together

You please me as my reprieve and relieve all that needs to alieve

We’ve continued to achieve as you’re my retreat, my fleet, my heartbeat and I’ll be the barkeep

I adore the contour of our flavor Kenlee and Marshall will savor

What’s in store is a stower of our growth grown together

You’re my savior I abhor any old bore to blunder forevermore foreclosure of that door

Enticement turned excitement and galore as we learned to grow together

I want to grow old together and mold our souls as one solar

Our love runs up to the uppermost poles like northern growth

Your glove stuns to the utmost it’s been long since I’ve l known I want to sew and stitch our souls to grow together

Premium MemberDid Your Daddy Smoke a Stogie

hot cocoa with a marshmallow and a straw stick, please dear.
surprised the bartender, he didn’t get many of this kind in here.
You’re a bovine, right? He asked the calf wearing the jaunty smile.
My mommy and daddy think so; they live on a ranch called six mile.

I think they might have met in this bar, the old timer said.
Did your mama dance her hooves off and wear flashy red?
calf was shocked, he did not know anything about their courting days.
I guess I could ask my daddy, he said. This sounds like a phase.,

Don’t quote me said the barkeep, I get a lot of things wrong.
But did your father smoke a stogie? And can he sing a song?
Not my daddy, the calf said, maybe some other guy.
His mother would have disagreed with a long poignant sigh.

Who Needs It Anyway

Time is crawling by, it creeps
And this starless sky keeps
Me awake staring at blackness deep.
Perhaps I need some tea to steep
Or some shots from a barkeep.
My wife lays peacefully , rests soundly, makes not a peep.
But I’m staring at Luna glowing roundly, as darker thoughts seep.
And I wish I could get them out, they away I could sweep
Instead of feeling them all pile up in a heap.
They’re not even the ones that cause me to weep.
Just the ones that say I’m nothing, worthless, cheap.
I wish there was some benefit I could reap
From seconds secluded silently screaming, “SLEEP”.

Too Many Rivers

Rivers ran around her life,
she never crossed them but one.

That one river was narrow and slow
it allowed her to go to another town
where she met a handsome barkeep,
who's life, like hers,
had been shut-in by rivers.

Turns out there were many bridges and roads
many ways to cross over,
but they dared not.

Over beers they feel in love;
discussed long-term relationships,
however, it could not be...

there were just too many rivers
between her barstool
and the bar.

Premium MemberFish and Chips

When Jesus stopped in for a bite,
The barkeep near fell out with fright:
“I’ve got some goat cheese,
But no fish and chips, please!
Last time, that was it for the night!”

Last Dance

Last dance

They had danced to the dunes of a juke-box
dawn, they were alone except for the barkeep
he was asleep, leaning his head on folded arms
on the mahogany counter.
Soon the sun will shine, followed by the day
and they had to face the dreaded future.
Both were married but not to each other
was love strong enough to survive the day?
They didn’t know the answer.
Just one more dance.
Hell is tomorrow with heartache and loss.
My god, let this moment last forever.

Crossing Lanes

Happy Hour is one drink short
of a buzz,

I try to determine the moment
it all went sour.
I’m looking into the empty glass
wondering where the ‘happy’ went,
did it dissipate on a curling lip
or a sigh?

I find the remote in the back of my mind
where remoteness lives and has its bunker.

It’s been a tough past year, and we’ve barely sipped
this new one, bad joo-joo everywhere.
what with all this apocalyptic crap going on.

Occasionally a camera will capture a look
in a strangers eyes, and I see my thoughts there.
We are all lonely inside our eyes I guess.

The barkeep picks up his tip and nods to my fading presence.
The taxi home gets lost between Reykjavik and Lahore,
we all arrive just in time to watch the day show up
on the 6 o’clock news.
Body counts and empty faces talking through mealy lips -
time for another drink.

Premium MemberNew Beginnings

Notoriously eager to learn something unique, clever, exciting or new
Enthusiasm parades out of her in every direction, heading toward jazzy
We do not attempt to hold her back, for she cannot be tethered

Being perpetually refreshed and rejuvenated, she delights us
Everyone who knows her either loves her or despises her
Gemini of course, the mercurial sign, always striving toward technology
Interested in astrology, astronomy, biophysics, chemistry, zoology, physiology
Need I mention the variety of jobs she has held? Barkeep, dog trainer, lawyer
Never been a carnival barker, but I would not take it out of the running yet
Interested in people, plants, dogs, cats, lions, foods, jewelry, space aliens
No, I am not making her up. She exists and not only in an imaginary way.
Greatness parades out of her from time to time, and often.
She never limits herself to any old records. Never going around and around.

Premium MemberHow Furious Are the Curious

How furious are the curious?
Or is it the other way around?
If you’re catty, are you necessarily batty?
I ponder these things with my regular doomsday frown.

How much drink will take me to the everlasting brink?
I know it may seem odd perhaps, but I just have to ask.
You see these questions come up in my mind oh so pink.
When barkeep puts too much ale in my holiday flask.

The Fire Within

The Fire Within

Barkeep....another
Without ice
A double whiskey
It goes down nice
Feel the fire
That gentle heat
Barkeep...another
And keep it neat

A shot of whiskey
It's warm
not hot
You feel the fire
The bunring linger
Feel the fire
From one shot

You start out drinking
To kill the pain
You order one more up
Barkeep...again
The burning feeling
Inside your chest
You're still coherent
You're at you best

Time...it passes
Years go by
The fire's burning
You're gonna die
That burning feeling
Can't put it out
You move from whiskey
On back to stout

You can not stop it
The fire rules
Your eye's are red now
Red, runny pools
What once was pleasant
Now burns with pain
You can not stop it
Barkeep...again

You keep consuming
It's who you are
Half a bottle gone
You've gone too far
You can not taste it
You can not win
You can not put out
The Fire Within.

Bar Life

Alone again in this God forsaken bar,
Will I remember where I left my car?
Squinting to see people in the dim light.
Looking for love in someone tonight.

Hoping to look good in someone's eyes,
Accepting half truths and lies,
Come, let me buy you a drink,
I don’t care what people will think.

It's not that late, the night is still young.
Alcohol always loosens the tongue,
What is hidden behind that face,
Keep one eye on the exit of this place.

Reaching out, touching, trying to survive,
Come and love me, I am still alive.
I don't want to go home alone.
Maybe you will come to my home,

Loneliness makes risks easy to take,
Please God, watch over me for my sake.
Searching for someone for my bed,
My mother's warnings echo in my head.

Who the hell turned on these bright lights?
It's not time to call it a night.
Another night of putting my heart on the line,
Good night barkeep, I'll see you next time.

he played his fiddle and had no nibbles

he sat impatiently casting his pole
it was so bad he couldn't catch a cold
bait, reel and miss
there were no fish
