Who Needs It Anyway

Time is crawling by, it creeps And this starless sky keeps Me awake staring at blackness deep. Perhaps I need some tea to steep Or some shots from a barkeep. My wife lays peacefully , rests soundly, makes not a peep. But I’m staring at Luna glowing roundly, as darker thoughts seep. And I wish I could get them out, they away I could sweep Instead of feeling them all pile up in a heap. They’re not even the ones that cause me to weep. Just the ones that say I’m nothing, worthless, cheap. I wish there was some benefit I could reap From seconds secluded silently screaming, “SLEEP”.
