Premium Member Another Novel Dawn In America

A brand new candidate got elected
The present incumbent got ejected
Lambasted and rejected
‘Tis another novel dawn in America
‘Tis another extraordinary day at the plaza
Of love, unity, justice, far from any drama.

The streets are full of happy citizens
The children are playing safely in the streets
Bring the flags; bring the food and the sheets
To have festive barbeques under the tents
‘Tis the time to be elated
A new President got anointed.

There is a patriotic rainbow in the sky
America's nightmare is indisputably over
Our hope is well, reborn, alive and high
‘Tis another dawn of togetherness and power
Power to the People who've been yearning for better days
Long live America! It's time to wane the blaze and the haze.

Premium Member Creepy Crawlers

Summertime involves barbeques and picnics,
baseball games, swimming, and dogs fetching sticks.
Pitching tents and sharing the ground with slugs,
centipedes, and other assorted bugs.

As twilight wanes, female mosquitoes thirst
for blood: vying for who will bite you first.
And at sunset, as evening breezes warm,
clouds of annoying gnats begin to swarm.

Ebony fields showcase flashing fireflies,
blinking in and out like sparks on the rise.
As creepy crawlers stir in the moonlight,
crickets break the silence imposed by Night.

The morning mist dribbles droplets of dew
on blades of grass that green grasshoppers chew.
And as butterflies sip nectar, first light,
dragonflies flex cellophane wings for flight.

Summertime's menagerie of insects
includes artists, farmers, and architects.
Alive, yet as beautiful as a gem:
we get to share this blue marble with them.

Premium Member Fireworks and Barbeques

July fourth means fireworks and barbeques,
a fun time to shake off those winter blues.

It's a beautiful southern summer's night
and though clouds threaten rain, there’s few in sight.

A scarlet sun bleeds to death in the west
and I await the darkness like the rest.

Kids are rushing to get in the last swim
before the sun sets and it gets too dim.

I'm anxious for the night's festivities
there will be all kinds of activities.

To me the best part of summer’s the heat,
I call it my bittersweet Texas treat.

I soon start seeing folks jump up and down
and I hear fits of laughter all around.

It seems like everyone’s going crazy
and then everything starts to get hazy.

I look to the skies and it's snowing out
something a child might fantasize about.

Stars are replaced by alabaster flakes
dusting the tops of my barbequed steaks.

Premium Member Children's Laughter

Summer means
swimsuits and
cut-off jeans.

And picnics on the grass,
smells of backyard barbeques,
swimming pools clear as glass,
beach parties without end,
family vacations;
and tenting with a friend.

Summer is a lazy time of year,
when we connect with Mother Nature.
Depression gets supplanted by cheer
amidst the butterflies and the bees.
And wildflowers of all colors waft
perfumed scents upon the slightest breeze.
Summer stores an abundance of hope
within the sounds of children's laughter;
building sandcastles, and skipping rope.

Premium Member Gazebos

Millions used to roam across Africa’s plains,
But, sadly, not one Gazebo still remains,
Yes, unfortunately, they are now extinct,
Their fate and Man’s greed, clearly linked.

Treasured for their waterproofed hides,
Used as Marquees by jetsetters and blushing brides,
Eyelets used to mask inappropriate holes,
Their thin straight legs used as supporting poles.

The world’s appetite for awnings was immense,
Pressure on their survival became too in-tents,
Most were poached - but some were boiled,
Corruption rife and palms were oiled.

Did I detect tears in Attenborough’s eyes,
As his films captured the Gazebos sad demise?
Let the whole world learn from this,
Not allow species to head into an abyss,
Never let us again, our powers abuse,
Just so we can enjoy shaded barbeques!

Premium Member What Do You Do

Cocktail party, only we renamed them barbeques.
I still do not want to be here, dragged by a so-called friend.
It is free food, he had a point there.
He drops me immediately, heads toward the dazzling ones.
I am worse than common.

I sit in a corner, listening to music I despise, hoping no one talks to me.
I am on my third plate of food when someone plunks down.
What do you do?
I do lots of things.
For a living?
I am a writer.
Her face turns weird. She begins to laugh. Excuses herself. Wanders off.
No doubt looking for a lawyer or a doctor.
This is not a soiree’ for the unemployed.

Two minutes later someone else plunks down.
She does not stay long either. I am not interesting, not dazzling, not anything.
Just a writer, who writes. Nothing more.
If I did not have a compulsion to do it, I might do something else.
But for right now, this is me, and I am it.
I take out my notebook and begin making fun of them on paper.

Premium Member Sue Meister of the Neighborhood

She is the sue-meister of the neighborhood.
She has sued almost all of us.
We do not invite her to our neighborhood barbeques any more
Possibly for this reason
Or it could be because she is caustic and mean
It is a toss-up really.

Better Days Part Two

"Better days" Part Two

Down and broke. Had no mattress on the floor, sleeping on the tiles, got frosted and caught a flue.

Had nothing to eat, no Hope just chaotic predicaments, confrontations and a season of hard luck. Tears on granny' s face and no fees for the kids.

But one day!
It all changed, it was the rebirth of Jonah to David the Victor, the Survivor!
Those days gone, now a memento l cannot quite recall, it does not matter for today is a new day.
A new dawn, luck on my side, cloud nine my couch. No more hunger pain!
Pockets deep like the  Pacific ocean.

'Every dog, has it's day.' That's what they say and it is indeed true.
Blessings on blessings, doors opening quick, swift decisions. Buffets, Barbeques and lots of treasure like a Lepacon' s layer.

Betters days!

Premium Member Pomp and Pageantry

I remember the grand parades
  Memorial and Independence Day
All their pomp and pageantry
Many faded jeans ago, so far away

Our boys in uniform we'd be saluting
For the good ole USA we'd be rooting
Now it's political rancor at barbeques
~ From either end we're tooting

Premium Member G'Day Australia

Good morning Australia!
How are you...? Gday!!!
It's our favourite day of the year
And a national public holiday!

The weather is fantastic
And the days fully packed
Lots of great things to do
And the eskies fully stacked

Important things to remember..
The old slip, slop and slap.
Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen..
And slap on a hat!

The barbeques are all fired up..
The crowds are building up fast.
The footy is being kicked around..
And the kids are having a blast!

Turn your radios up real loud..
Sing along in your best voice.
It's the Australian National Anthem..
Come on now.... Let's rejoice!

The night sky is starting to darken..
And the momentum starting to build.
For the best sky-show fireworks..
Everyone watching will be thrilled!

So when the night is over..
Be trueblue and do the right thing.
Please keep Australia beautiful..
And put your rubbish in the bin!

Your Love For Me

Your love for me has died
I am shattered In pieces
a broken doll
Pieces of my body scattered all over the floor
I can't stop crying
I am a broken record player
My screaming thoughts have awoken the neighbors
your love for me has died
My dear all that lingers
are our cries and laughter's
that we shared
A scrapbook half filled with memories
spent at family parties, barbeques
and special anniversaries
it's sad to say your love for me
has died.
I've come to accept this hardship
This isn't the end of my book but
the beginning of a new chapter
your love for me may have
died but the love I have
for myself hasn't

Dog Equals Woof

An erotic lettuce leaf. Strip. Then consume. Consumption of consummation is quite colourful in a layered green hue. But how often barbarians liberate barbeques with a token. How quite unfortunate for a flame to flambé. But nevertheless horseradish soup is extremely lovely at this time of year. Especially when tied to a tree. Tether well the cantering ones. In canopies. In classes. Fresh glasses are only an option in queue b and queue a often receives free unsolicited junk mail at ten a m. Do not judge a deviant monster of a mobile mob. For adjusted adjudication is best left to apples. In skirts. With very pink lips that bubble. Sitting on a time bomb is not wise. Over a decade. Over a drawing. And how quite entertaining it is to run around and around and around carrying a silver shopping bag with a golden handle. Great. Fantastic isn't it. Staffing steering steeples showing showery showerheads. And an exciting journey for a tiny little dog at the five million acre fun fair. Hahaha and how cutely arranged are the small onions leaping down the highway. Wow. Xxxxx curvaceous carrot creates calligraphy. Xxxxx demoralised Z no p y q today just Z
