Losing Face

One may see puffins and parrots
any hour of the week
both birds bear a big colourful beak
the former pelagic feed on fish
and live in large colonies on coastal cliffs
tho' monogamous collectively breed as a bunch
but with renown as the Atlantic sea clown
in Iceland several are served as lunch
the latter arboreal primarily frugivorous
toco being by far the largest
are opportunistic and occasionally omnivorous
to a few prudes it may seem unseemly or rude
and yet if they stick around they'll later get down
as their chicks are seen to hatch in the nude
these avians may fly high in the sky
have the same such things as two wings and legs
and of each species the female lays eggs
but that's where similarity does stop
one puffin can do more than toucan do
in more or less of a day
after mating its pecker turns grey
and without waiting its bill it will drop

Premium Member Ship of Dreams

The ship of dreams
Opulent surroundings
Fancy bed linens
Luxurious dinner plates and tablecloths
Gleaming virginal utensils
Dazzling crystal chandeliers
Polished walnut woodwork
Gold gilded fireplaces

Wardrobes ready for furs and dresses
An experienced captain
Eager staff
Bustling activity
Musicians, artists, businessmen aboard
High ranking officials, wealthy industrialists, celebrities
Cruising flawlessly in clear blue sea
A haven and heaven during the day
Easy sleeping and dreaming in the evening

J.P. Morgan was disappointed to have to cancel at the last minute
Four glorious days of sailing
Around Midnight April 15th, 1912 the Titanic struck an iceberg
The chunk of devilry slashed a three-hundred-foot gash in the hull
Haphazard evacuation ensued
First lifeboat could have held sixty-five people
It left with twenty-eight
The dream ship broke in half after filling halfway up with water
In two hours fifteen hundred people died
The majority of them froze to death in the North Atlantic

Waves call out in song,
Sea breeze teases sunlit hair—
Sands of time await.
Flip-flops mark our path to peace,
Horizon holds dreams aloft.

Premium Member My Atlantic Home

Smell of jazmine mixed
with fishy waters.
Smell of something missed
long time ago.
Listening to the seagulls
squawking in the morning
brings me back to my ocean.

Three days out from the inland,
I faced happiness again.
Three days with my windows open
to the Atlantic, It reminds me I'm a fish
caught in a strange net.

Three days walking on the seashore
woke my dark mind up.
       Enchanted with your modesty,
I fell in your arms again.
Illuminated by your gratitude,
I will be dying without you.

       Now, again in the inland,
I will always miss the seagulls
when I get up, the ones that can be nasty,
but the ones that feed my breathing everyday.
Married to the seagulls I am,
with or without them in my Atlantic home.

Ferocious Oflaherty Wild Atlantic Way

Why this is my tale

Of my family tree and roots

The what and where

My Gaelic Celtic

Surname origins came

Straight out of my Liverpool home

Retracing my heritage right back to

The emerald island of Eire

Galway Bay

And the Wild Atlantic Way

Which paved the way

Where the

Ferocious O'Flaherty

Clan initially began and surname came

To Aughnanure Castle

On the shores of the Drimneen river

Where I myself have never previously been

Which I aim to put right and address

Because as they say and it's said

In order to know where you are going

You need at 1st to know

There fom whence you came

If no other reason

Apart from maybe just incase

In death you may well be returned

Indexed alphabetically under ones surname

Mine begining with the letter

" F '"

Moto and Meaning

Fortune Favors the Brave

Bright Rulers

Ferocious in both

Spirit and namesake

Premium Member Atlantic City Sunday

Marble-sided buildings sunk in the sand
Jumped 40 glassy stories on command.
Everyone thinks life is nothing and money’s grand.
Rolling chair hawkers spiel and cutely chide
Sunday suited daddies to pay for their brides.
So, a cavalcade of marmalade mommies ride,
(Fatted infants firmly holstered at each side),
Tossing constant comment diapers drenched with pride
To the beach where broken dreamers slept and died.

My Atlantic Sky

Contently I gaze
upon marshmallowry fluff
formations floating
pass my daydreamy mind-space
of rapturous enchantment...

Premium Member Wild Atlantic Beauty

Remembering Achill island where:
landscape so barren echoes with loneliness.
Remnants of harsh winter slowly receding,
leaving terrain behind burnt from elements.
Will spring bring a green renaissance?

High on cliffs inquisitive Peregrine Falcon,
sharp-eyed and watching ocean frenzy.
Arrogant bird of prey, with attitude,
indifferent to Achill's weather.
Sojourner birds will return with spring.

Glacial island's intriguing domain.
Atlantic storms forever sculpt prospect,
as bitter winter sun skims land playfully.
Creating elusive shapes and shadows,
like a kaleidoscope of mystery.

These impressions stay with me,
when returning to my concrete existence.
Instead of screeching soaring seabirds:
the endless roar of traffic.
Closing my eyes I remember.

Spring Break Iv - Love of the Ocean

A boy on the verge of manhood
Can lift a girl effortless
Her crotch to his chest

In the weightless ocean

The young woman
Eye to eye with the soon-to-be man
Who possesses surprising strength

She is taken he is amazed

They should stay there forever
Up to their shoulders
In the curling surf

Never come out

To where the burden is heavy
And innocence dries up in the air
Like salt and seaweed

Crusting the skin

Stay in love
Would be my advice
Remain whole in the rolling sea

Entwined as one

Gazing
To one another
Heart to heart ear to ear

Teal eels of equals.
