Ace In Atlantic City

buckle up
a hundred dollars
at the poker table
gives you
less time then you think
only an ace
could kill the mood
they had the ace
Ace…you are done
Atlantic City won

I scanned the comments. There are a lot of gamblers who need or love the excitement it provides. I have the opposite issue....I would like to stay calm a bit more. I find that I often tremble after a discussion that I feel emotional about and which involves some rejection because I sometimes know in my heart I am not wrong. See what your poem got me started with. My goodness. This is fun. I am still working, but will try to come back at some point soon.

I have rarely gambled in my whole life. Not even buying a lottery ticket. And as you wrote the house won. Hugs.

My husband played one poker game with his siblings. I am not a gambler either. God bless!

The Ace got aced by the house. Oh, well. There's always Russian Roulette, pirhana fishing, or parachute jumping... Smiles, Gershon

They let you win a little, so you won't notice how much you lost when it is all said and done.

The odds are in their favor. You think of themes that others don't notice--sign of a true poet.
