The Selfish Unconcerned for the Good Well-Being Association

The Selfish Unconcerned For the
Good Well-being Association only takes in
those who can
use their left and
right hand with the
same ease.

suppose green

as if it were a thought

remember
green
	as it once was taught

touch something;
				call it green
name something
			manufacturing a meaning.
greening it,

	claiming green
as your own,
			holding it now as
a word of substance
				a word of meaning,
a manufactured reality.

the absolute realness of green and then

			another

and another. and yet

where is that substance
that I have not been taught?

		thought

where is thought -

Haunting Hues

The walls felt like it was caving in,
The coldness of the room gave me shivers,
The dimness of the room that once comforted me
Now leaves me distraught.
Stepping in, I felt a surge of anxiety;
The bad memories that I had once suppressed resurfaced.
And it felt like I was going back
To those days I've tried to forget.

Guilt By Association: a Pantoum

Do not worry, my sweet little one. Didn’t you know
Closing your eyes makes everything OK?
Nothing to fear. Of course we can rely on Joe
Stop packing; there’s no need to prepare for Doomsday

Closing your eyes makes everything OK
This is the United States. We never back down
Stop packing; there’s no need to prepare for Doomsday
The trusted media said we’re on solid ground

This is the United States. We never back down
Ask the people of overrun Afghanistan
The trusted media said we’re on solid ground
It’s all in your head. This house was not built on sand

Ask the people of overrun Afghanistan
Nothing to fear. Of course we can rely on Joe
It’s all in your head this house was not built on sand
Do not worry, my sweet little one. Didn’t you know?

Premium Member Association of Chronic Bellyachers

When traveling a stretch of life's highway
Does it feel like it's uphill both ways?
Does it feel like winter's twelve months long?
Do you work like a dog for small pay?

Well welcome to a newly formed club
The Association of Chronic Bellyachers
We meet every Thursday at the crack of dawn
We're a bunch of cranky “whine” makers

No grins, guffaws, or laughter allowed
Could be thrown out on your rear
We've a couple of burly guards at the door
Wearing scowls from ear to ear

So if there's really nothing that bugs you
You ain't welcome at one of our meetings
Especially if you're really content with your life
You could even end up with a beating

We take this bellyaching seriously you know
It's developed into a new kind of art
The technique we've developed is really simple
Happiness never invades our heart

Now, if the real truth of the matter be known
With tongue planted firmly in my cheek
I'm really this sweet, kind hearted old codger
Never gripes, never lets out a peep!

Haiku's Temple 239

Hi wake up ant
face this pole
your soulmate food.

Poetry Muse Association

A well known comity among poets
It’s home base is within a dictionary
Also used within the minds of poets
Traveling among thought’s of wonder
Shared then placed back into home base
These words of scramble blending together
Golden words placed upon parchment and bound
Which brings this Muse Association together
Unless,
Spell check is down.

Corsican sand
  on the Rio Grande
Simon Bolivar weeps
  the night asleep

Renegade cycles
  hogs gone mild
Gehinnom's Mayor
  Timothy Leary's child

Zebras abound
  in Peppermint Land
Alan Ginsberg howls
  from primal jowls

Leopold Bloom
  did not predict ZOOM
Cosmic collisions silent
  without Daniel Boone

Country music
  Mix in Ragtime
from Alexander's Band
  to Motown Rhyme

Andy Warhol's mind
  spilled out in soup cans
Campbell's pork and beans
  Welsh Rarebit also-ran

When free association
  Met psychic gestalt
The resultant metastasis
  Petered out beneath salt

Stream of Consciousness is out
  New Age Meaninglessness is sin
Wherever Narcissism reigns
  Foot Worship rushes in

The best poems at night
  often come unbidden
J. Cricket fervently wished
  This one hadn't been written

Randomling 28: Guilt By Association

Fresh morning light frames
a cat, surrounded by piles of
dirt and deceased plants,
looking innocent.

Guilty By Association

Am I guilty by association?
Well at least that`s how it looks.
And because shes in my family.
They think we both are crooks.
But I cannot confirm.
And nor can I deny.
Anything she might of done.
I`m not her alibi.
And if that`s how they feel.
Then I can clearly see.
How I might of turned.
Into a liability.

There once was a poet named Jan
Who was looking to find a new man
Joined the Naked Ramblers Association
With little or no hesitation
Now I’m swinging as much as I can

Homeowners Association

He had a statue of the Blessed Mother right there on his front lawn
Oh how God's Light reflected upon Her in the early morning dawn
But then one day he heard some knocking on his front door
It was the homeowners saying, hey, you can't have that anymore

Not that we mean any sort or type or even any kind of disrespect
It's just that not all tend to agree with the views that you reflect
She will have to be taken down and kept well out of public sight
For this is not the type of town that are in the words that you write

And that flag that is there just hanging off of your window
Well I'm sorry to say Sir, but that too will also have to go
It's not that I don't love that old Red, White and Blue
But we as American's must respect everyone else too

Oh and about that Pro-Life bumper-sticker that you just got
Right now, to get rid of that... we can't really do a whole lot
But tomorrow is coming and it is going to be a whole new day
Maybe it might be for the best if you just packed up and went away

A Summons From the Neighborhood Association

A Summons From the Neighborhood Association

By Elton Camp

Into Fred and Penny, the letter brought fear
The Neighborhood Association tells ‘em to appear

“To certain regulations you have agreed
To them, your addition seems to exceed.”

“These rules are for the benefit of all.
For removal and a fine, we may call.”

“With our decrees you must cooperate.
Towers and turrets we surely do hate.”

“So appear before us right away
If in this area you want to stay.”

“Your house we have a legal right to seize
And then do with it exactly as we please.”

“They have no taste at all,” said Fred
“I told you to check first,” Penny said

“Those dopes can’t tell me what to do.
With their silly rules I am through!”

Fred learned the term “binding agreement”
Still, of his defiance, refused to repent

On them, vengeance was soon wrought
And their place became an empty lot
