Guilt By Association: a Pantoum

Do not worry, my sweet little one. Didn’t you know
Closing your eyes makes everything OK?
Nothing to fear. Of course we can rely on Joe
Stop packing; there’s no need to prepare for Doomsday

Closing your eyes makes everything OK
This is the United States. We never back down
Stop packing; there’s no need to prepare for Doomsday
The trusted media said we’re on solid ground

This is the United States. We never back down
Ask the people of overrun Afghanistan
The trusted media said we’re on solid ground
It’s all in your head. This house was not built on sand

Ask the people of overrun Afghanistan
Nothing to fear. Of course we can rely on Joe
It’s all in your head this house was not built on sand
Do not worry, my sweet little one. Didn’t you know?

My dearest Heather, your poetry is inspiring. I wish I was thre for your sister, Alitia, but I'm sure she had may people who were sad to see her pass. I don't know how much longer you grandmother will be around. Last I spoke with her, she was incohearant.
