Frozen Promises June 23, 2026
______________________________________________________________
Frozen promises, aped icicles hang,
Glistening with deceit
No alteration in sight, the same yore song,
The disillusionment was a bitter defeat.
The sun, once a beacon of warmth and light,
Now hides behind a veil of darkened clouds,
The warmth of hope was replaced by plight.
Leaving us feeling lost in the shroud.
In this realm of torment and fear we tread,
Is a test of strength, where souls are led.
It's a battlefield of our creation.
Where we bear sequels of our damnation.
Yes, it's true; this world is hell.
But within its chaos, there are stories to tell.
We were not born to wither and fade.
But to rise above, unafraid.
What else do you expect? What else do you expect?
In a world filled with unrest?
A call to action, a plea for change,
To break free from this endless range.
Assertively, we are the base of the construction.
Of our living inferno, this destructive abduction.
But it's not too late; we can turn the tide.
With our grit, we can alter the course, with pride.

I'm a strong person, created of rough stone,
Wispy magenta dust was plucked off the ground.
Threatens to wreck my dreams in my moan,
As amethysts gracing my bedside endowed
Wispy magenta dust plucked off the ground,
Discovering insight in the early morning sky.
As amethysts gracing my bedside endowed,
I wish I could spew words into a width of the sly.
Discovering insight in the early morning sky,
I am bound with poetry, so it flows time on me.
I wish I could spew words into a width of sly,
Erasing all my unwillingness and anxiety.
I am bound with poetry, so it flows time on me,
Abandoning me to the mercy of the universe.
Erasing all my unwillingness and anxiety,
Assertively nothing other than a creative force.
Abandoning me to the mercy of the universe,
Threatens to wreck my dreams in my moan.
Assertively nothing other than a creative force,
I'm a strong person, created of rough stone.

Wallflowers were once your favorite bloom,
so you suddenly plucked me from off the wall.
Half dead, but not yet in the tomb,
you treated me like your little doll.
You revived me to speech and gave me a name,
aligned my character to please your own.
I belonged to you, you'd assertively claim.
I was flesh of your flesh and bone of your bone.
Alone at the courthouse, we would wed
in spite of warnings from both sides.
I was somewhat alive, not yet dead,
scuffing through the room with cautious slides.
Your love was sudden, then revealed illusive.
When I revived, you became a zombie.
I guess better neglectful that abusive.
I became a part of you as you became a part of me.

Leader of the home with virtuous height
Bracing up family with grand posture
Governing prudently by great faith’s might
He’s our Daddy in his godly gesture.
Daddy dearest is our human fortress.
He loves us as he trusts the Lord* Who’s great.
Assertively pointing truths he does stress
Guiding with values of excellent rate.
His humor’s sense speaks of prudence-fervour
While wholesome jokes call for analyses
His boyish looks, before, earned Mom’s favour
With wise perspective in facing crises.
A champion in his home-roles’ fulfillment
Dad exemplifies “genuine provider"
Propelled by his faithfulness’ commitment
A paragon of steadfast life-builder.
Showing verily servant-leadership
Our father’s a hero in word and deed
How we thank his marvelous guardianship
We praise God for Dad’s legacy indeed.
*Psalm 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

Angels observe in un-articulated anguish from above,
anxiety afflicted by appalling accelerated ambition of the aggregate
that redefines the archaic, apocalyptical allure
driving humanity to its brink of active self annihilation;
those moments of antiquated adversarial abstractions
when history goes awry in its accursedness
revels the atrocious alienation of poverty ignored,
that hidden appetency wherein
the very acquiescence of its anticipated allure,
blinds us in our astigmatism that can anesthetize living well;
the assuage ascendancy of life's pain and amplified existence
briefly lingers, dies
as we absolve ourselves with abstinence
surpassing the more auspicious moments lost
when we could have been assertively aggrandized,
to become
more augmented humanity.

Some say they from a broken family
I’m not but nowadays its broken anyway
punished when in trouble had to take responsibility
picked apart by my troubles stripped of masculinity
punishment not found when a parent ups and leaves
in all probability it took the confidence from me
labelled a cluts my fails they made me see
at 11 brother went to university
my sister moved out unhappy
so in my family unit I was on my only
funny as now my siblings disowned me
my parents are peoples they don’t want to see
I’m stuck at home reluctantly
one year over 33
let the bird fly free his nest his destiny
let him find his kids his lady
they label me lazy some say crazy
stuck here deservingly deserve living desertedly
as I’m not searching assertively,
I’m not from a broken family
just one that lives far openly

I beg, Lord, for Your wisdom* for effective spirituality
So as to walk with You everyday with perseverance
Fortified to overcome faith-tests by Your assurance
Assertively expressing Your supreme sovereignty.
I pray, Lord, for Your wisdom in my servant-heart attitude
As I worship You with my whole heart
Illumined to cleave to Your grace midst doubt’s dart
Sincerely yielding to You with joyous gratitude.
*Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

DICTATOR – SUCCESSOR - DICTATOR
Absolute power lies in his hands,
How his chest expands!
How long does a Dictator last,
This era should now
Become the past.
His greedy ego,
Should not be fed,
The people all agreed and said,
His hedonistic ways,
Have left him
But a few days.
They all know,
That he must go,
His spies advise
That he lays low.
The masses, the army,
The man in the street,
Ready to march,
Bringing thousands of feet,
So angry, so vengeful,
So ready, so united
Everything’s planned,
It has been decided.
A coup erupts,
The Dictator’s out,
A unanimous decision
Which carried clout,
And in his place
Comes a cunning clone,
Who assertively says
All the land is his own!
The hearts of the masses
Immediately sink,
How stupid
Were they ever to think,
A clone, accomplice
To the Dictators deeds,
But fully aware ,
Of the people’s needs,
Would be re-active,
Sensitive and sane of mind
Not so –
Clone and Dictator were one of a kind.

BIRD ON A TABLE
It was his table
He was there first, before me
He said assertively
Talking, chirping defianty
Wanting crumbs
Unwilling to fly away
But ready to do so
In a flash
Heart racing
Courage and hunger
Friendly but timorous
He held his ground
As my Goliath hand approached
And dropped a crumb
In front of David

Seductively symetrical in form and presence
She calls it Eve, I call it sepia political
Aroused motherhood of nation, a glamorous sense
Of identity, modern and yet mystical
Naked as a morning, smooth as silk dreams
She looks back, not histantly, nor curiously
Profiled the hidden breast, in streams
Of provocativeness, the right hand assertively
Shouldered on the fallen curtain of hair
Lefting hand coming down where the stare
Of vulgar eyes would fall, stripped of history
But not of dignity, the umbilical memory
Cradlles a lascivious eye against the dark skin
Woman bounteous with beginnings, sister, kin.
Edna Manley
Eve (Ceremonial Dance)
Edna Manley (1900 – 1987) studied art at Central St. Martins School of Art in London
alongside fellow sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. Her artistic career began by
sculpting clay models of animals but she made her reputation as a wood carver. During her
life she became known as the Mother of Jamaican Art, and claimed that it was in Jamaica
where she found both her subjects and materials. The sculpture 'Eve' (1929) was presented
to the Graves Art Gallery in Sheffield by the artist herself in 1937. .
