Radiance

In grace divine, she guides with ease,
Her empathetic heart, is a masterpiece.
With beauty, brains, and a gentle spark,
She shines, illuminating every dark.

Journey of life, joys you embrace,
Erasing sorrows with gentle grace.
Achievements come, applauses resound,
Smile bright, let no one impound.

Daughter, sister, wife, and mother dear,
Strength personified, casting away every fear.
Let's honor them in every stride and sway,
For their courage and grace, this Women's Day.

a day in October

A Friday in October

This morning was green and mild, with
no sand, in my eyes, wind from Morocco blew
Once, I was in Casablanca, I bought a pair
of traditional slippers with long toes
it is what one does at the old market
The TV man spoke about the weather
said Africa, which is a continent and many
other things
A farmer in the next village had killed his
wife, for a woman getting married
is a perilous activity, the lottery of life
is littered with unlucky females
In Mosul, Iraqi officers arW paraded on
the TV. Why? I don't know, I think it is about
war, but like splendid in green uniform
we see a tank fire at something over the
horizon, and everyone applauses
My neighbor has a nagging wife who's
need, turns hysterical for the lack of it
when she has one of her turns, the man
saddle up his mule, goes for a ride into
the woods of happy memories

Catching fireflies on stage

I want to write something grand
I want to catch some fireflies
Without applauses or a band
Cage words in a jar for eyes

Consonants make a light show
String them with floating vowels
Words imprison djins, you know
Don't you dare throw in the towel

Every day fireflies search for me
Even in November when it's cold
They like words want me to see
I can't without wine and be bold

Are fireflies for a show and tell?
Woolfs without a howling pack
Damned insects are caught pell mell
Glowing words buzz in my sack

To feel crows captured by Gogh
I want God to say well done
Anything but Him saying, So?
Chasing fireflies should be fun

I coax myself onto the stage
The greats did it, why can't I?
Without claps, they fill the page
They lift a glass for fireflies to lie

Vowels in a jar should be grand
But, I've lost how to be a child
Delighted only by God's band
I suffocate fireflies ever wild

Premium MemberMy Wish Would Come True

When I go out, people smile with their stretched jaws
But the moment I turn, they mock at me for no cause.

On my achievements, my fellow-men shower applauses in tons.
But in my absence, utter sarcastically with their forked tongues.

At times, my neighbors shower unwanted sympathy.
Secretly they reason my actions differently.

They seek my help and send requests with a pleasing heart.
Behind the curtain, they congratulate themselves for being smart.

The vendors fill my basket with one or two spoilt fruit
Cheat and swagger how cleverly they can loot

I believe that they are really praising my nobility.
For not greasing their palms, with me they develop hostility.

They say ‘correct’ when I raise my voice against misappropriations
Off the record, warn me for poking my nose in those conversations.

I pray the Lord...Let’s be blessed
With right impressions, right thoughts and right deeds which mark us the best.

Burn It Down

Arrival of dejection may be the acquirement of upcoming selection...
Applauses of today can be the daunts of tomorrow...
Weaknesses and flaws are all a part of perfect perfection...
If love is so selfless, then why required is the harness...
Tear the letters and burn away the petals...
For their selfish wordsmith have only engraved bitter pits ...

Headed For Leadership

compound word verse

There is a worthy cause you see
could start a trend which needs to be
spearheaded.

Deal with arrogance, grand pooh-bah,
don’t act like some maharaja,
bigheaded.

Be stubborn and members you’ll lose.
Teamwork succeeds under one who’s
clearheaded.

What to do with folks who complain,
a leader in angst must remain
coolheaded.

Share the wealth and share applauses
lest you find your worthy cause is
deadheaded.

contest: Compounding the Verse

I used Rhyme Zone and How Many Syllables?
The latter lists both "coolheaded" and "deadheaded" as 4 syllable words. I count them both as having 3 syllables. Have contacted them about these two mistakes and await a reply.??
Have found all of my compound words online at Farlex Free Dictionary.

Chanducktour

her oboe is so-so
but her chello is grand
she sings the lead
and plays drums in the band
her man friend
is a flutier who flutes is
first-chair
they applaud and listen
appreciation they share
the song lacks incentives
we must improve production
these applauses interrupt
the next song's introduction
maybe if we fuse the
orchestra and band
these audiences will
act more like fans
piano, piano player and song
the arrangements are right
but lyrics are wrong
they sound right but they are song to this tune
they ask the woman to meet
him for their hunny-moon
she is a stranger a
a curse word at best
she asks for most
but settles for less
she is described as a do-that-to-her
course you better not say that to her
she'll curse you
and fight you
and cause
trouble for you
she has a man but he mean less to her
course she wishes to
be with someone else
it might be better if she was by herself
but anyway just sing the song
who care if it's right
or if it's wrong!

Stock Market

I make profit
I cause loss

I shoot up
I slide down

I change
I remain the same

I get applauses
I get screamed at

I am owned
I am released

Invest in me
I am a stock market

Together Forever

"I do." Two words
Which have sealed our lives
And bound them together
Forever
Goodbye Beautiful License
- License to cheat,
Fool around and get
Fooled around. No more
Late hours at the club. No more
Partying till the sky drops. No more
The life of a party animal. No more
Flings with flirty friends
With a forced smile on my face
I walk down the aisle
With my partner.
Partner! That word scares me!
Shared house, shared room,
Shared bed, shared food,
Shared children perhaps,
Hopefully, shared finances.
That part sounds good
But what a price to pay: freedom!
Exiting the church building
Into the open air
I ignore the cheers and applauses
And glance at the decked hearse
That will convey me to a life of
Confinement.
Have I made a mistake?

Son of the Sun

Applauses were even, numbers and faces were odd.
Clay was molded and fate washed her palm
Sentences were bold as my story was told.
One of a rusty heart of iron stitches
One of haggard feet of million hitches.
The flames danced bright and night was light
Chalices were of pumpkin and flutes of cane
Rites were roots, skins were dried and drums were drums
Arms were flags gliding on in the ululations
Chitenges were of savanna and tongues were of the zambezi.
Hisses were blisses and kisses were riches
Smiles were fireflies and pals were butterflies
Years had piled, miles were fat, feet was bare and dust lost lust
In kisses were riches and in stitchings were teachings
My fist rattled a straw in the condensed country breeze.
First of the sun and last of the sand
Of elephant heart and eucalyptus will
The tomb was torn, bones made skeleton and from earth crawled legacy.
This cage is sheath, these ribs cradle an epitome of the African Child.

Somewhere In the World

Hide away, my child
Hidden dangers lurk beneath
Innocence prevail

Hatred manifests
Alarmingly disguises
As contorted love

Lost society
Pressured into submission
Subterfuge action

Gains foothold, at last
With enlightened applauses
New generation

Into the soul's well
Restitution shines beacon
Forgiveness takes time

The Arts

the arts-ian munywe
i am longing for the day,
the arts will pay.
it is long overdue,
appreciation is due.
i visualize sculptors,
being accorded an audience.
i envision musicians,
being lent many ears.
i see the poets and writers,
receiving thunderous ovations.
i feel rapturuous applauses,
being extended to dancers.
i imagine all the awe,
that painters will experience.
actors too will reap,
more than they had sown.
i am longing for the day,
the arts will pay.

Premium MemberJanis Martin

Virginia produced a rockabilly pioneer named Janis.
This talented artist was called the “Female Elvis”.
In her youth, she displayed fine musical prowess.
What a flamboyant act she displayed on stage
when rockabilly music was the fifties’ rage!
With her initial hit record “Will You Willyum”,
Janis achieved popularity, and then some.
She drew a plethora of applauses and cheers
whenever personal appearances were made over the years.
The spirit of Janis is now performing in heaven
after she passed away in 2007.

I thank wikipedia.org online encyclopedia for information I obtained to write this poem.

Rowdy Racecar

ZOOOOOOOMING speedily…
Tires squeaking from exhaust… high in volume
Racecar spews out smoke…
Blinding the eyes of a thousand fans

Blooming havoc…
Explosions avalanche downwards
Racecar drives fast and furiously
Awesome feelings launch through me
Projecting panic and twisted bliss

Catching the audience’s full attention…
Tension between challengers increase
Who could stand in their way… not even the coaches
Racecar screeches on the racing street…
Ain’t this competition neat? Come! Take a seat!
This event is brilliant – it’s such a treat!

Producing thrill or disappointment…
Car organs, fragments, shards, remains, limbs, veins
Spurts out in flames… flying at every possible direction
Countless racecars… barely functions – this scene is extremely horrendous!

Yet, the victories are gracious!
Vibrant applauses and thanksgiving triggers enlightening cheer
Have no fear!!!
The moment is ever so precious!

Racecar…you make so much racket and suspense!
Rowdiness is in your nature…who will pay the expense??
