Abounded Poems

Premium MemberBlessings of God's Grace

God’s grace* melts pain with mercy glow
As compassion vanquishes woe
Instilling hope to conquer strain
With mercy glow, God’s grace melts pain.

God’s grace prevails midst kindness’ scope
To conquer strain instilling hope
Showcasing care, it never fails
Midst kindness’ scope God’s grace prevails.

God’s grace abounds, such we must share
It never fails, showcasing care
That flows with zest as faith resounds
Such we must share God’s grace abounds.

God’s grace highlights love at its best
As faith resounds that flows with zest
While prayer mirth soars for great heights
Love at its best God’s grace highlights.

*Ephesians 1:6–8 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence.

Premium MemberThe Quest

I battled against the sharp stinging slaps I received
Seems life decided against me or so I believed.
Retired from work at first some just tranquil peace increased,
Till one by one, all my relatives suddenly ceased.

Severe problems abounded, but I never gave up
Despite the fact that bitter myrrh filled up my life's cup.
Solutions scarce, hard to find, but always strongly strove
To care, to love, to find an answer as my heart drove.

Still fickle time may not be on my side but my quest
Goes on, till a solution found so I shall not rest.
I'll be patient, work and wait for Almighty God's aid
Till it's done and I'll be laid ’neath an olive tree's shade.

The Words of the Father

I write to you the words sent to me by the Father...
Although I am busy with my family I don't see it as a bother...
Rather as a doorway to show you how I feel...
As well as a way to help you realize God is very real...
And He has His chosen doing His work on Earth...
For evil has abounded since the first birth...
But through language we can share many things...
To inform or advise or give evil it's wings...
No matter the reason I do it of and for Him...
So, I can cleanse my soul and others who are living in the wrath of sin...
Judge the words you read to get the true message from the start...
Which is to love one another and do our part....
So, we can remain as we once were a happy family...
To give closure to ailments and let the past be.

Premium MemberStroud Soldiers

And they came home battered, bruised, some we had to carry, unlike other armies ,we don’t shoot our wounded

We give them fresh water, tend their wounds,, sustenance to mend their soul and nourishment for what ails.

They come back from the front lines at all hours and always with love their bound

Stroud where their love is abounded
To cheers and salutations and our greeters summoned great support

Some of our wounded suffered Covid and death ,the pyres stacked high with wood and carried

Meetings ten ante meridiem and ten post meridiem , everyday of the year
Bloody and ragged, torn and hungry

Stroud where we are proud to serve,
God isn’t afraid to walk freely and His grace loves His steep streets

Mums never hide and Me Dad never shirks a duty nor a pint ,My sister is
quite the sassy one though

Premium MemberShadow

Shadows on walls, enjoyment of shapes
Rabbits, Dogs all made to enthrall
The feeling of late, drowned in sound
Time for a walk, shadow beckons
Lost the energy that once abounded
Standing enjoying birds and scenery
A giggle, from where? no one around
I looked down at the ground
My shadow standing next to me
Off I go, shadow followed
Need a rest, stopped and rested
My shadow moved onward
How can this be, I looked in amazement
my shadow turned, waving gestured
I looked around, no one to be seen
I returned the wave, sheepishly
My shadow strode on, turning occasionally
No one around, I shouted wait for me
My shadow stood still, waiting patiently
I ran to join my shadow, feeling foolish
We became one again, sigh of relief
Are we ready, a silent question?
Off we strode life is waiting.

The Figurative Tree

Frost and horse stopped by the woods
Kilmer wrote of God and trees
Nash would spoof with billboard trash
Yet trees figured first in Genesis.

In the garden of Eden
trees abounded all but two -
One the tree of life and then
the tree of knowledge, good and evil

March 9, 2022

My first attempt at the Lind30SU form
on the use of trees in literature.

with appreciation to Robert Frost, Stopping by the Woods;
Joyce Kilmer, Trees; Ogden Nash, I Think I Shall Never
See a Billboard Lovely as a Tree and Moses, Genesis.

Premium MemberSilence Is My Thing of Real Beauty

To many people, silence is a bore
thinking it to be a real chore
wishing always to be in company
looking for another open door

Being quiet and alone is so hard
always needing company of lots of folks
such people like talking so often
maybe shows inferiority that's so broke

I must confess I love silence
it's such a peaceful feeling
there's a sense of stillness abounds
such abounded peace so appealing

There's something soothing deep inside
listening silently to an absent sound
full of expectation of what's coming next
it's like a special jewel you've found

Silence is my thing of real beauty
so beautiful words cannot explain
what others think ugly I simply love
a silent moment fully satisfies my brain

(This is written about something that most people find ugly but I see it as beautiful and that's silence.)

Premium MemberGloomy Truth

The defamatory claims and the offensiveness,
The capacity to distinguish objects by the swiftness
Direct statements related to the correctness,
Enhancing one's level of moral effectiveness.

Contradictions throughout the course thickness,
We've come to a fork in our trip to homelessness.
All hopes and dreams have faded with happiness.
The truth was concealed behind the darkness.

I'm arriving familiar with the ending of the loneness.
Human integrity is hidden under eternal nothingness.
Where to learn receiving peace via sin forgiveness?
How can we beget abounded generosity and kindness?

Furthermore, strive for the most exact faithfulness.
And find the urge to feed and feel the gracefulness.
We will not be conveyed criterion of moral rightness.
Spirit of unrest rouses me from my wakefulness.

Premium MemberGrandmothers

Grandmother sits in her rocking chair
Views of the World, much clearer from there
Eyes so dim, wiser still in times gone by
Thinking of her marriage challenges
All in the past no sense in worrying
Children left home, marriages of their own
Decisions made, Family visits start
Manners taught have lasted the tests of time
Younger one's at her feet
Grandmother, watching from afar
All around her listen as wise words spoken
Advice cast aside not paying attention
Visits become less frequent, lives of their own
This rocking chair resembles a throne
Days have been plentiful; love abounded each day
Prepared to be on her way, when her name is called
She shall rise on her own, will she be missed?
For a short time, her memory will exist
The rocking chair empty with a life of its own
If you watch carefully, it moves for sure.

Premium MemberStriving For Happiness

We felt the joy of the soft mellow breeze, sighing down the hill,
As we lay sprawled beneath a cedar that grew beside a rill.
Shrubs abounded, meadows covered with splashes of daffodil.
One day we'll be wed there where divine nature displayed goodwill.
Bells tolled from our chapel anticipating us with a thrill.

Premium MemberA Day With a Photo Camera

So glad you decided to come with me.
I brought my camera and we'll wonder
At the vistas that we would love to see.
A lovely, cloudless day with no thunder.
I knew exactly where the best shots be.

Plodding through virescent hills and hollows,
Below so many trees that form a groove
Careful where to tread, there were some fallows
Splendid shots I took so I'm sure I'll prove
For from an oak, flew so many swallows.

My camera worked: an eagle soared high,
Surveying the artistic span below,
A rill twisting its way, blue as the sky
Flowers abounded, sweet fragrance they blew,
Tired we needed rest, food to fortify.

An inn nearby provided us with food,
Scrambled eggs, hot sausages, tea, and toast.
It had been a wonderful interlude
But my love was the happiest the most.
We went back home, in good humorous mood.

Premium MemberExperience 101

It was my first summer job
I didn’t feel quite ready
but I tossed all hesitation aside
it was time to stretch my wings

I felt lucky and tried to measure up
as summer camp counselor
on this beautiful woodsy island
where nature abounded

I was a full week into it
things were running smooth
I was starting to fit in as best I could
until it happened late one night

In the deepest darkness I met my nemesis
a teenie weenie itsy bitsy mouse
I let out a scream to wake the dead
that echoed clear across the lake

Coincidentally soon afterwards it was decided
they didn’t need quite as many counselors
I’ll always remember them polite as could be
as I was being thanked for my services

Fort Largs Stepping Out On Hallowed Ground

Will you step on the hallowed ground
With our brothers and sisters that were found
When we marched together as one
And our lives had just begun

Do you remember the morning parades
And the leave night escapades
The golden days when youth abounded
The feeling of a new life as you were astounded

But the years have been unkind
And the hallowed ground has weeds entwined
For us who were the lucky few
Close you eyes your memories won’t fade for you.

Premium MemberNever Lose Hope

There on the craggy mountain
Rocks abounded full of moss
Dew made the way slippery
Climbing was difficult even without a cross.

Up high was a lovely arch
With words that urged for hope.
It was my destination
But the climbing was hard, steep was the slope.

I had made up my mind to try,
There was no other way to go
Yet the paths interlaced full of dew.
I fell a thousand times, but I had to know.

The going was tough,
I could not bear the thought.
That I was going to fail.
I had walked and climbed and all for naught.

I turned back and went down.
The going was easy now.
Life became better and full of fun.
I should have learned better and who cares anyhow.

Suddenly I came to a large ferocious river.
A river of no return. I trembled in fear
For then I realized I was a fool.
Yet all around were demons pushing me from the rear.

A soft voice called my name
”You're still in time, turn back.”
So I returned to my arduous climb
It was harder now but knew that was my real track.

Another Karen - a Reverse Poem

My black son
He did not belong
Unwelcome
Unannounced and subsequently
Uninvited
To attend his predominately white Honors math class online
Confirmations abounded
With increasing befuddlement
By the substitute teacher
“Are You Sure?”
By a white classmate
Affirmed
Welcomed
Invited
Permitted to remain
After all
He did belong
My black son
