The Quest

I battled against the sharp stinging slaps I received Seems life decided against me or so I believed. Retired from work at first some just tranquil peace increased, Till one by one, all my relatives suddenly ceased. Severe problems abounded, but I never gave up Despite the fact that bitter myrrh filled up my life's cup. Solutions scarce, hard to find, but always strongly strove To care, to love, to find an answer as my heart drove. Still fickle time may not be on my side but my quest Goes on, till a solution found so I shall not rest. I'll be patient, work and wait for Almighty God's aid Till it's done and I'll be laid ’neath an olive tree's shade.

Nice Couplet poem, Victor. We have no control over what may come our way, but it will all end well if we continue to do our best and trust in our Loving and merciful Creator. Blessings upon you, my dear friend. Bill

Dear Victor, its hard to go on when our loved ones are gone, yes we have to do our best until we’re laid to rest, though we should enjoy the time we have, because for everyone someday we are laid ‘neath an olive tree’s shade… Take good care of yourself, Beryl

Sharp stinging slaps…(poignant) Till one by one, all my relatives suddenly ceased…(sad and beautiful both) I'll be patient, work and wait for Almighty God's aid Till it's done and I'll be laid ’neath an olive tree's shade...Our hope is in Christ…we celebrate that hope during this season. Hugs

This is a beautifully sad poem, dear Victor. But I guess that's what life is all about. It has its bitter-sweet moments. We either roll with the tide or we give up, and I know your strength—you are not one to give up. A fave for me...Hugs

What we seek, we hardly get. Life gives us a lot of pain, intermingled by moments of joy. We have to fight bravely, never giving up and calling God to our aid. I can sense your aches and see your courageous fight. Wish you happy and grace filled days ahead.... dear Victor.

Though aging certainly has its challenges, it is preferable to meet them with optimism and faith, as portrayed in your lovely poem. Best wishes.

Emotive and expressive work. Sometimes it is the hardest for the long livers. My husband's parents, only sibling has gone on plus her husband and so many of his cousins on both sides of the family. On my side, my adoptive parents plus their sons plus many of my cousins have passed. Most of my biological kin as well. I have read to compensate for this problem people need to make friends with people who are younger. Thanks for sharing your feelings with us. Sara K
