Hollywood Car
David J Walker
I am thinking of moving
To Hollywood
And living in my car
And leave it double-parked
Until I become a star
Though, at my age maybe
Not very practical and at
This stage of life
Not really adaptable to
The discomforts of a
Wanna be star
Living in a car
So
I’m thinking of moving to
Hollywood but
Taking my truck
Thinking my F-150
Would bring me
Better luck
Then a parked car
Piling up parking tickets
Wanting to be a star
Got some amazing news, the best news of all
Burn 150 cals per hour smashing your head against a wall
But not recommended
If survival is intended
Could attract relatives for a final farewell
so
so
delightful
sitting here
listening
just
my
thoughts
one
after
another
a

of
perfect

Oh! Canada, you have traversed,
A hundred and fifty years!!,
Giving life and hope,
To a land that was once,
Left out as an ice desert,
You brought the whole world together,
To enjoy the benefits of democratic living,
Away from cultural conflicts,
And political turmoils,
Accruing the skills of,
All lands and people,
With mutual love and understanding,
Finding the joy of peaceful co-existence,
A veritable heaven on earth!!!.
Some time later I returned to Lake Norman,
not as an underdressed yet fearless sailor-man,
but as myself, passing through Davidson
late on a June Sunday afternoon
on my way to visit Duke University.
How lazy and peaceful it was that day!
How calmly the students meandered about
the innocent, quiet campus!
How cheerful the squirrels! How happy the clouds!
How glorious the sunset!
How small the world became at that moment
compared to the vastness of stormy days long since past!
a road turns into a cloud
as the lonely figure rides
towards the gates of hell
mirrored face shield
hides the devilish smile
from onlookers curious
what's the hurry
does he know the risk
and does he even care
No
because life looks so different
and feels so good at 150 mph
there's not enough time to think
decisions are for fools
the road is straight
the course set
a dead end means
FREEDOM...............
