One bit of trivia...The childrens' song 'Ring Around the Rosie' came from the middle ages and the plague...The first signs of it were a red ring surrounding a spot that resembled a rose...A pocket full of Posies were the flowers thrown on the graves...The meaning of 'Inside, outside, we all fall down!' are rather obvious...

Interesting facts here Debbie, I must say however I had occasion to visit the dentist a few years after a filling had been done.. When he had taken off the old filling he was quite perplexed.. And told me that in his 30 years of dentistry. He had never before seen an adult tooth create dentine which is what makes a tooth i so my tooth was trying to repair itself...but then thats just me i suppose Debbie "aren't I awkard..!! L O L take care Joe..

Also, the shortest mail sent (ok, this really sucks because I can't remember the facts! as in the people who sent name, etc etc..or was it telegram?/) ok this is before email-- as in waaaay before-- was between these 2 men: one guy sent "?" and the recipient understood him and replied "!". OK where is that book? I want that book now....

on second thought, I don't think I can. I am too wordy-- unless of course, the exclamation point & question mark was made entirely of words...hmm it still won't be enough? I better stop.

Sorry Ruben I think I was being confusing-- I was referring to the book I mentioned in my commented below-- I suddenly miss that book on amazing facts... hehe imagine that, a book that just says "?" and "!" --bestseller! I can write that book....
Date: 4/4/2013 11:38:00 PM
Very interesting blog, Debbie-- certainly enjoyed these facts and also the comments below... I didn't know that the rights to Happy Birthday had already been bought! I only knew a handful of them, & reading this made me remember this big book when I was a kid, can't remember the title-- something like "Giant Book of Amazing Facts" but yes, my memory sucks. But some additional facts that I can add (which you might know already) -- is that the word "set" has the most dictionary definitions-- over 460... & something I came across while I was 'working', stuck in my mind for days-- there are approximately 200 million insects for each person in the world and something I never knew... male ducks' (drakes) penises actually wither away & fall off when it's not needed anymore!! it grows back during mating season--imagine that!!o_O

Hi Ruben and Harry! Ah, honk, honk indeed! & yup, be thankful you are not ducks...Another interesting fact about ducks-- hmm their members for honky ponkying can be pretty big/long, especially compared to their size, about 9 inches-- record holder is the ahem, the Argentine lake duck.. 16 I think even 17 inches...

glass technically does not break down, it gets broken and lasts alot more than 1,000,000 years, usually as sand. At the time of the dinosaurs, our days were only 18 hours long. The earth is slowing.

Debbie there is a bridge in London known as the 'wobbly bridge' because when it opened about 8years ago all of the first people to cross it walked in step and the bridge swayed so badly they had to close it and put strengtheners on it....David

Some very interesting facts. I may have heard of the military salute before, as it sounds familiar. By the way, Debbie, did you know the list of facts is repeated two more times on your blog? Hugs, Kim
