INSTRUCTIONS ON WHAT TO SUBMIT:

Write a NEW (for this contest only) Elegy poem  . . .  See example on my poetry page called ...

Elegy - Lost Love

A poem of lament and mourning, a sad and thoughtful poem about the death of a person, pet, job, lover, friend, thing, end of a chaper in your life, it is endless the grief we have to endure in life.  Think about your loses.  I have tons, sure you do also.

Regarding this poetic form, there are no rhyme rules for elegies,  or layouts, it is rather the subject matter that defines them. Although, traditionally elegies will contain three separate parts, beginning with the initial lament, where the speaker expresses their grief and sorrow. The second is praise and admiration of the person speaking about their life and achievements, and then ending with the consolation and solace.  But, you  do not have to do this in my contest unless you want to. Just write a poem of lament and grief.

Any title, but no more than five words

Any length of poem

Quotes by Poet or other person,  images, and music, appreciated !
